Second try: Samba, PDC and LDAP
This isn't strictly a Samba question but I'll ask it anyway. If someone can point me in a better direction I would appreciate it. We are going to install a new remote access device for students to dial into our network. We are trying to decide what type of authentication to use and how it will impact Samba and out current NT stuff we have going. I know little to nothing about NT. We

Multiple class C addresses
I have gotten Samba to work but them came up with a problem. It is working on a mchine with the class C address 198.xxx.xxx.xxx. Any PC's with that on that IP address can see the server just fine. However, we also have another class C 207.xxx.xxx.xxx and folks on that one cannot see the server. We have seen this problem before and NetBeui solved that one. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

SUMMARY: Bad Password
I got the answer. I set up swat and found that security was set to user. When I set it to share things work like they did in 1.9.18p10. The manpages say that security = share is the default but I don't think so. Original question: This is the first problem I have had with samba, that I can't find the answer to, since I first started to work with samba. I am running DecUNIX 4.0d and I

Samba 2.0 and passwords
Hello all, I have asked this before but I have not found a solution. I have one Dec Alpha running Tru-64-UNIX, formerly DecUNIX, v4.0d. I am running 2.0.2 and have run 2.0.0 with no problems. SWAT works fine on it also. I have 2 other systems, one running v4.0d and the other running v4.0b. On those systems I can connect to guest volumes just fine but anything that requires a password fails

SUMMARY: Samba 2.0 and passwords
I would like to see those of us who send an inquiry to this list also send a summary of what fixed the problem so that someone in the future could find the answer. I searched archives for an answer and only found questions. Since a lot of folks reply ot individuals then even the replies don't end up in the archives and so it would be nice if summaries were sent to the list. Anyway, enough

OpenSSH 2.3.0p1 on Compaq Alpha
Hello, I have installed OpenSSH 2.3.0p1 on a DEC AlphaServer 4000 under Tru64 UNIX 4.0F and on a DEC AlphaStation 200 under Tru64 UNIX 5.1. I tested Protocol 2 and 1 with RAS authentication resp. DSA authentication an both work well. There is one bug: I cannot view the man pages for OpenSSH under Compaq Tru64 UNIX. Are they in a special format which is not understood by the Tru64 UNIX man

patch almost works on 5.1A openssh 3.4p1 - get in, but get kicked out (fwd)
Hi- I applied the privsep patch to Tru64 5.1A openssh 3.4p1 and it *almost* works. I get in from the client side and xauth is run, but in the meantime the server side disconnects. Running sshd in debug mode level 3 gives the following output: . . . debug1: session_input_channel_req: session 0 req shell debug1: fd 5 setting TCP_NODELAY debug1: channel 0: rfd 13

2.0.7 : 2 problems with install on Compaq Tru64
Hi, I just installed 2.0.7 on Compaq Tru64 4.0F with options with-quotas and with-utmp. I encountered the following two problems when building smbd : 1- In smbd/quotas.c, one comment is introduced by //. This is not supported by native cc I was using. This is on line : if (save_errno == EDQUOT) /* disk quota exceeded */ 2- As AIX, Tru64 has utmpx.h but 'x functions' are not

Building R-1.4 on Tru64
Hello everyone, I've just attempted to build R-1.4 on Compaq Tru64 (I'll enclose the text from bug.report() from R-1.3.1 at the end.) The relevant part of the log is below. Any ideas? gcc -shared -o methods.so do_substitute_direct.o methods_list_dispatch.o method_meta_data.o slot.o -L/usr/local/lib /usr/ucb/ld: Warning: Unresolved: TYPEOF Rf_error Rf_protect Rf_substitute

Problem with mput * on Tru64 ?
Samba 2.0.7 running on Compaq Tru64 UNIX V5.0A with latest tru64 patches. "mget *" works OK, "mput *" or something like "mput *.bat" fails with the error message "find: bad option -maxdepth". Several questions - Anyone else come across this one? Would dropping back to 2.0.6 fix the problem? Could it be an issue with 2.0.7 on Tru64 V5? Regards, Brian

Samba 3.6.0 compile errors in utils/net_idmap_check.c
Gday samba fans. I am doing something no longer fashionable, I am compiling Samba 3.6.0 on Tru64 Version 5.1A using the Compaq C compiler: Compaq C V6.4-014 on Compaq Tru64 UNIX V5.1A (Rev. 1885) Compiler Driver V6.4-215 (sys) cc Driver I also tried gcc but I got a lot farther with DEC-C... All the way to utils/net_idmap_check.c where it says: Compiling utils/net_idmap_check.c

SIA support patches for Tru64 UNIX
I think I'm ready with the SIA (Security Integration Architecture) patches for Tru64 UNIX. All of the code was written by Tom Woodburn, an engineer at Compaq. I've only performed integration and testing of the patches with more help from Tom. Tom's original patches were included in the "other" ssh. We'd both like to see SIA support get into OpenSSH. SIA provides PAM-like

rsyncd.conf;
I have some rsync defined as a server on one of my production systems and use to to sync out various configuration files for services running on the box (dhcpd, dns named.conf files & the like). Both ends are Compaq Alpha/Tru64 5.1 systems running rsync 2.5.5. I'm having a fit trying to include certain files in specific subdirectories under the main path; one such example is below:

The following popt files need patches in order to compile using Compaq C on OpenVMS. These patches should also be needed on a Tru64 or LINUX on ALPHA using Compaq C. question re: samba on Digital UNIX 4.0d
Hi everyone, I'm going to try to install samba on a Compaq (Digital) alphaserver 400 running Digital UNIX 4.0d (formerly OSF/1). I've never used samba before. I have been reading the documentation and wonder if anyone can help answer a question or two... The bundled book "Using Samba" (as well as at least one FAQ I believe), suggests I may need to run the configure script using
