2.0.5a on AIX 4.3.2, smbclient failures.
Dear All, We have successfully run 1.9.18p2 on our AIX 3.2.5 servers since 1.9.18p2 was released, with heavy access for printing and file sharing from users and NT servers. We are currently in the process of upgrading to AIX 4.3.2 (now completed) and have been trying to implement 2.0.5a. I have used the AIX binary install which all worked. We are using WINS/DNS/DHCP running on the NT servers

Help me too! Password Authentication Failure
I have a similar problem to Giulio Orsero. I have failure messages in the log files, but I actually have samba mapping failures. A PC will map every day for two weeks properly and then not connect. Fifteen minutes later, it will connect. Any suggestions? Alvin ---------- Giulio Orsero <giulioo@tiscalinet.it> 7) I have 2.0.6-PDC and a 2.0.6-domain-member of the 1st pdc.

2.0.4b: logrotate problems
On 18 Jul 99, giulioo@tiscalinet.it (Giulio Orsero) had questions about 2.0.4b: logrotate problems: [snip] > As I said, my problem was not that logrotate didn't rotate; but > thet after logrotate rotated a log smbd kept logging to the > rotated file instead of to the newly created, empty, log.smb. SSL CA cert error from smbclient (solved)
Looks like this question was indeed solved prior (finally found the searchable archive). Solution is to add ssl CA certDir=/usr/share/ssl/certs to the smb.conf file (or appearently any other directory for that matter). Jamin W. 2.0.6: HUP/charset/profiles/smbmount/logging
This is the list of problems I had with samba-2.0.6 so far. Can anyone tell me if he can reproduce them and if he considers them as problems? 2.0.6 on linux 2.2.13 or 2.0.33 1) sighup/log reopening doesn't always work: connections that are already active keep logging to the old logs; logrotate rotates/zip the logs and samba stops logging completely till restart. 2) Localized chars. nbtstat doesn't show MAC address for samba servers
On Win9x I issue the command: nbtstat -a <netbios name> If <netbios name> is a Win9x machine I got the MAC address of that machine on the last line of the command output. If it's a samba server the MAC address is not returned: MAC Address = 00-00-00-00-00-00 Is there anyone who gest the MAC address back from a samba server? -- giulioo@tiscalinet.it

oplock_break: MS kb articles
I found these articles that talk about the oplock_break problem (specifically they are related to problems with word97): http://support.microsoft.com/support/ntserver/serviceware/nts40/e9msge2bc.asp http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q163/5/25.asp Basically they say: either apply sp3 on the winnt client or disable oplock on nt server But they don't say anything about win9x,
