SWAT status report wrong
I just installed 2.0.4b on both of my Sun E4000's. The one is running
fine. The other seems to be running fine too except SWAT reports that
*mbd are _not_ running when they are. Moreover, the status page lists
all the active connections while listing the daemons as not running.
Stopping|starting|restarting does what is supposed to do but the status
of the daemons is still listed as not

SWAT (eroneously) reports smbd/nmbd not working
hi all,
I just installed samba 2.2.0 on a Digital SMP server and I can tell that
administering it via SWAT is the bigest step since man walking on the moon.
but...
SWAT eroneously reports smbd/nmbd not working while they are working.
And even more, the smbd/nmbd [start]/[restart] buttons have dissapeared.
Why is that ?

Machine Upgraded & smbd/nmbd won't start
Hi all. Running 2.0.4b on a (now) solaris 2.6 box. Since the upgrade the
smbd & nmbd daemons won't start. I tried starting smbd by hand, running
it through truss. Here's the last few lines:

fstat(3, 0xEFFFF858) = 0
write(3, " [", 1) = 1

patch suggested for Solaris 7 cures samba2.0.5a/Sol2.6 hiccup
I installed and configured samba 2.0.5a on a rather unstable Sun box on
Thursday/Friday last week to link two NT cd writer machines to a filesystem
on the E4000. After a bit of wierdness regarding the usernames the NT
machines where offering to Samba, and some creative use of a username.map
file I got what they wanted set up. The users were happy and 5 minutes of
job satisfaction were achieved.

help! smbd spawning Zombies when started with swat.
I am having a problem with my Samba machine, here are the details.
The machine in question is running FreeBSD 4.5-RELEASE on a Dual PIII/XEON
550.
I downloaded the source for Samba-2.2.3a and compiled without a hitch.
I also setup SWAT to run through an stunnel(ssl) pipe.
SWAT configuration of Samba worked great, but if I start the daemons(smbd &
nmbd) from SWAT, smbd seems to keep creating

odd swat issues, odd printer issue, odd crashes..
Before I start, can you CC me if you respond as im not subscribed. thanks!
(this is samba 3.0.4 on suse enterprise linux, kernel 2.6.5)
first, the swat issue.
I had a machine that had 2 network interface cards in it.
I have since removed one card, mainly because it caused weird performace
issues unrelated to samba.
the interface addresses were 192.168.0.200 and 192.168.0.201

swat on red hat 7.2
Hi,
I'm having a minor issue with swat on red hat 7.2. It won't let me make
any changes to the samba server (adding shares, printers, and global
definitions). The buttons to access these simply don't exist. I can view
status, but I can't make any changes (not even restart the daemons).
This works fine on my Debian system. The only real difference that I can
think of is inetd

swat properly.
Can someone help me ?

Creating SMB shares with SWAT
Hello,
When I create a share with SWAT, it generally takes 5-10 minutes before I
can browse to the share from an SMB client. If I kill the smbd and nmbd
daemons and restart them manually, this of course, makes the shares show up
immediately. Obviously, this delay is waiting for Samba to reload the
smb.conf and create the shares. It doesn't seem that using the "restart"
button next

SWAT modification....?
Hi,
I would like to suggest a modification to the SWAT web gui. I have
been successfully using Samba for a few years now at my institution and
it is a great product. We use it here to handle all of our file serving
for around 11,000 users. We have 3 Sun E450's serving up to a 1000
clients
each at any one time with no problems. That's the background, here is my
request. In the SWAT gui

Swat for Samba
Dear ladies and gents
I have installed the Samba Package 2.2.5.0 on a running AIX machine.
I have unpacked the .EXE file and configured the software, too.
The application samba with its daemons is working !
At least there is one bug or I don't know how to run . . . however
There was the configuration tool "swat" installed in directory
/usr/local/sbin
but it isn't running.

SWAT and "security=server"
Not sure if this is the right list, but I've just tried SWAT for the
first time. I am running the rev shipped with the 2.0.5a src. If I
select "security=server", there is no place to edit the "password
server=" param, or at least not that I can find.
Am I correct that there is no place to edit this info and I must do it
manually?
Thanks!

SWAT: please help
Hello all:
Here's the problem [on a RH7 running kernel 2.2.17-14 with
Samba 2.0.7-21ssl and xinetd-2.1.8.9pre14]:
http://localhost:901 does bring up the SWAT login dialog
box.. but upon entering root as the user, followed by my
root passwd in the next entry... it tells me "Authentication
failed. Retry?" I can tell you that I did enter the correct
root passwd, because I am root
