Missing NT_Security docs.
As I'm sure many of you have noticed, the new NT_Security document was present in the 2.0.4 tarball as a yodl file, but not as text or html documents. I've re-released the tarball on samba.org (and it will propagate to all the mirrors shortly) as samba-2.0.4a.tar.gz containing the new NT_Security.html and NT_Security.txt documents. I also took the opportunity to fix the typo in the

Saving MS Word Documents to a Samba Share from NT
I have installed Samba 2.0.4a on SGIs running IRIX 6.5. My PC is running NT Workstation SP 3. I have a problem saving documents from MS Word 97 SP 1. If I create a new document and attempt to save it to a Samba share I get the following error message: Word cannot complete the save due to a file permission error. (G:\XX\TEST.DOC). A listing of the directory from Unix shows the following:

Transfering large files
Hello! I've been seeing some weird problems with transfering large files from a Samba (2.0.4a[1]) server to Windows clients. Sometimes (but not always) the Windows client will stop copying the file after a few megs and claim that the share is no longer available (it is, of course). This used to happen *a lot* with the default read/write buffer of 8k. The buffer is now 250 K, which has almost

Hi, I finally have the opportunity to give NFS-Ganesha a try, so I followed that : https://download.gluster.org/pub/gluster/nfs-ganesha/2.4.5/Debian/ But when I try to install it, I get this : The following packages have unmet dependencies: nfs-ganesha : Depends: libntirpc1 (>= 1.4.3) but it is not going to be installed nfs-ganesha-fsal : Depends: libdbus-1-3 (>= 1.9.14) but

Novell support
Howdy everyone, I'm new to this list and new to Samba (although others at my company have experience with it). Anyway, I'm sure this has come up many times in the past but I have several Netware servers that people at remote sites need access to. The clients are Windows 95/98/NT, they all connect to their own NT domain (one domain per site), and they do NOT want to install the Novell

Not getting new mail notification
Hey all, I'm having no luck getting new mail notification except in two mail folders (using maildir w/procmail delivery). I'm using three different clients (sylpheed-claws 1.9.14, Thunderbird 1.5.0.5 and a newer version of Horde). None of them are getting new mail in any except these two folders (inbox and 1 other). If I browse to the folders, still nothing. If I browse to the

NFS-Ganesha packages for debian aren't installing
Although looking at it I see .service files for systemd but nothing for SysV. Is there no support for SysV ? Guess I'll have to write that myself On Wed, Jun 07, 2017 at 11:36:05AM +0100, lemonnierk at ulrar.net wrote: > Wait, ignore that. > I added the stretch repo .. Performance difference between 32-bit build and 64-bit build on Solaris 8
Hi everyone - I'm seeing a 32-bit build perform significantly faster (up to 3x) than a 64 bit build on Solaris 8. I'm running R version 2.1.0. Here are some of my system details, and some resulting timings: >uname -a SunOS lonetree 5.8 Generic_117350-16 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V440 lonetree /home/sgilpin >gcc -v Reading specs from

Permissions for certain files get zeroed out?
Hello, this is my first posting to the Samba mailing list! At our company, we are running Samba version 2.0.4a on an SGI Origin 2000. Our client PCs are running Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000. We are seeing a problem in which a user can create a document and save it in one of our Samba shared directories, however if he/she tries to make any changes and save them, the file's Unix permissions

HPUX shared memory creates error
Hello all, The problem ----------- I've been trying to install the latest samba distrib (2.0.5a) on a hpux 10.20 machine, but the connection times out, apparently because of shared memory access.
