Advanced user rights on a samba PDC
Hello,
Sorry for the crosspost on both lists.
I've just finished to install a Linux RedHat 2.4.2 / Samba 2.2.1a server,
which acts as a PDC server for about 30 windows 9X/NT/2000 clients.
It works ok, but 2 problems remain, which I suspect to be bounded :
1) I can't start the user manager for domains on a Win NT4 workstation SP5
box, i have the following error message (translated form

Using nonlinear regression
Hi, I have been trying to figure out how to use the nonlinear regression to
fit the cumulative lognormal distribution to a number of data points I have
but I am a new R user and I cant quite decipher the notes on nonlinear
regression. Any help in this regard will be greatly appreciated, my email

samba and usernames
Hello all,
I'm putting into production a samba server on rh6.1 with samba-2.0.5a-12
(installed via rpm).
The goal is to have windows 9x and nt 4.0 (sp5 and sp6) access
individual user directories on that server. The unix password file
matches username values as stored on our NT domain.
some of the globals:
security = server
password server = OURPDCNetBIOSNAME

Probable Numeric Bugs in svd function (PR#8781)
Hello,=0D
=0D
I just noticed that the "svd" function does not work properly for some=0D
sparse matrices.=0D
When I replace the 0 by very small noises (let's say 10^-16), it then=0D
works.=0D
The test I've performed is to compared the singular values to the eigen=0D
values (as I work with squarred matrices).=0D

Here is the code (I may be wrong!):=0D

Cross-validating two matrices
Hello,
I am trying to help a colleague with an R problem (see below) to whit
I can only generate a very inelegant solution. Any advice would be
welcome.
Thanks,
Brian
If you have two matrices, say a species by trait matrix (Matrix 1
below) and a plot by species matrix (Matrix 2 below), is there a
straightforward way to prune one matrix so that the species list
matches those in a

Samba and NT4-sp5 problems ??
We were using Samba 2.0.2 and Windows NT4-sp3 quite happily.. however
someone wants to use sp5 (get me a large caliber rifle, PLEASE!!), and
during some testing we noticed what 'looks like' file corruption problems.
Files do not seem to get written to the samba shares properly/completely...
I say looks like, because copying the files manually seems to be fine, but
when done within an app,

How to "Pack" a matrix
Hello,
Suppose I have a matrix a where
a= sp1 sp2 sp3 sp4 sp5 sp6
site1 1 0 1 1 0 1
site2 1 0 1 1 0 1
site3 1 1 1 1 1 1
site4 0 1 1 1 0 1
site5 0 0 1 0 0 1
site6 0 0 1 0 1 0
And I want to pack that matrix so that the upper left corner contains
most of the ones and the bottom right corner contains most of the zeros
so that matrix b is
b= sp3 sp6 sp4 sp1 sp2 sp5
site1 1 1 1 1 0 0

semaphores and Solaris 7 8/99
I just installed the 8/99 release of Solaris 7 on three Sun Ultra 10's and
it seems to have broken Samba. I am running Samba 2.0.5a and it works fine
on an Ultra 10 running the 5/99 release of Solaris 7. All of the Ultra 10's
are using the 64 bit kernel. This is the errors that I am getting.

calling objects in a foreloop
I want to organize outputs from several regressions into a handy table. When I
try the following, each of my "fit_s" is replaces instead of read. Is there a
way to read from the regression summaries that does not require writing
separate lines of code for each?

Need Advice: 2.0.4 or CVS samba
Hello,
I'm currently running a CVS version of SAMBA w/ PDC support from before
the 2.0.x series release. It has worked well for my needs. Now I'm
wanting to update my NT machines to SP5 which I assume doesn't work with
my version of SAMBA (SP4 doesn't). I couldn't find the answer in the mail
list archives.
So.......
I know 2.0.4 doesn't have "official"

PATCH for cpu.c
1) Some time ago all project files for MSVC 6 were removed; it makes sense to remove the code that is necessary only for MSVC 6 and older compilers.

PATCH for cpu.c
Explanation of changes in this patch:
1)
'CALLBACK' was changed to 'WINAPI' because the signature of
an unhandled exception filter is
LONG (WINAPI *unhandled_func)(struct _EXCEPTION_POINTERS);
2)
The code
if(info->ia32.fxsr || info->ia32.sse || info->ia32.sse2) {
[...]
}
was replaced by
if(info->ia32.sse) {
[...]
}

Users connecting from Terminal server to Unix server running samb a
I am using Service Pack 5 on Windows NT Terminal Server 4.0. I understand
that there may be an issue with SP5, but I am unable to upgrade immediately.
Is there a registry entry on the NT server I can use? I cannot find
anything on your web site but will continue looking.
