smbpasswd port 139
I have a network where the domain controllers do not connect on port 139 Is there a way to have smbpasswd change the password without this? I am able to change the password using an ldap method in php ldap_connect ldap_bind ldap_modify_batch full source code here http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=313554 however this does not allow the password to be set if it has expired.

how do I not use smbpasswd?
All, I am in a mixed NT/UNIX/Novell environment and got the buy-off to go full SAMBA for our corporate fileserver (400 clients, 95 and NT). I got a few Sun UE450s and A5100 arrays and am going to cluster them with Veritas. I have samba working with home directories for all clients, but had to dump the passwords from the PDC into the smbpasswd file in order to do it. Sometimes it takes an

2.2.5 LDAP/smbpasswd -L problem help.
Guru's, I humbly ask you for help. I ran into a problem in which I cannot find the reason/fix. System: redhat 7.3 samba 2.2.5 --withldapsam nss_ldap configured to route the Unix UID/GID from same LDAP server. It is running well and am able to authenticate off the LDAP servers. One problem I am having right now is that I would like non-root administrators to be able to use smbpasswd -L option

options() question for displaying numbers in the GUI
Dear R Users, I would like the R GUI to display numbers with comma separators, i.e. 1,000,000.00 instead of 1000000 Is there a flag in option() for this behaviour. A google/RSiteSearch has not revealed anything but perhaps I have missed it. pdbedit: importing smbpasswd to tdbsam
Hi there, I'm trying to import a smbpasswd-file into a Samba 3.0 installation on Debian Sarge using tdbsam as sole passdb backend. Copying pdbedit's documentation I used pdbedit -i smbpasswd:/root/smbpasswd.old The error message returned was tdb_update_sam: Failing to store a SAM_ACCOUNT for [foo] without a primary group RID where foo is the username to be imported. This message was

tdbedit imports from smbpasswd ok but sets domain value as old domain
I tried to send this before but it might need re-sending... Hi, Just found this out - is it a bug which I should register or is this by design? We had been running a Samba 2.2 server for a few years with a domain called PSCT - everybody very happy (well done guys!). Installed a new server with Samba 3 based on Debian Etch. The new server was set as the domain PSCT2 to keep things clear.

Synchronize changing of the WinXP user password to the smbpasswd (without PDC)
Is there a way to synchronize changing a user's WindowsXP password with the smbpasswd? I configured a basic Samba server (3.0.10) with password encryption enabled. When I created the smbpasswd file, I used the same username:passwords as the WindowsXP user accounts. After the initial connection, users can login and map the network shares seamlessly. Users are required to change they

telnet to serial connection?
hello folks! here's my situation: i've got two WTI RPB+ remote power switches (essentially a 5-port power strip which you can control via serial interface to make each of the ports switch on and off independently). they work fine; i plug a DB-9 cable into the back of my machine, fire up minicom, and i have full control. however, my eventual plan is to use these as fencing

Error while set mailQuota=0 with mbox and LDAP backend
Hi, all. I have OpenLDAP(+qmail.schema), Dovecot, Postfix installed on RHEL 5.1 (x86_64), and they works fine with mbox format. The problem is if i set 'mailQuota=0' in LDAP, postfix can't send mail to recipient user. But it works fine with 'mailQuota != 0', such as '10240'(10M). What's wrong with my mail server setting? How can i solved this issue? Thanks very

Announce: KDE User Manager does smbpasswd.
Hi, I'd like to announce a beta patch to the KDE user manager (kuser) that integrates the management of the smbpasswd encrypted password file with the existing password file. The eventual target audience is administrators installing Samba based PDC's, or other applications where an encrypted smbpasswd file needs to be managed using graphical tools not too dissimilar

Joining an NT domain using the smbpasswd command
I'm evaluating Linux (Redhat Linux 8.0), with a view to migrating from Windows but have been having a frustrating few days trying to configure Samba 2.2.5 via the terminal from within the Gnome GUI. I can get Samba to work when it comes to Windows clients using the Linux box as a file server but am having no joy when I attempt to use the smbpasswd command to join an NT domain. I keep

ldap smbpasswd UH???
I can't really guess the point of your intelligent answer from this. If I have to assume you're surprised, I guess I am too. The cn exists in ldap, with all the attributes that I imported from other databases, the message given by smbpasswd suggests that it either tried to create an entry or update it with sambaaccount attributes ( which it didn't ), neither of which are the expected

R2winBUGS & WinBUGS gui
I am trying to figure out if it is possible to run winBUGS from within R, using R2winBUGS, without having winBUGS spawn any windows (basically - 'true' batch - no GUI actions at all). The reason being I have a machine which I (and several others) ssh/telnet into, and would like to run winBUGS without having to mount a virtual desktop of any kind. I've looked through the r2winBUGS

combining local users or smbpasswd users and NTDOMAIN usersin LDAP
Lets see. So are you going to be getting rid of the NT Domain? If not, why not just setup LDAP authentication on the linux box through PAM with the help of a few other modules. It creates a local account based on the authentication success. Works great for me. This also promotes centralized user administration. Is that what you are going after? If not, I apologize for giving you the wrong
