Using printers with SAMBA
Hello, I have a Linux box with 2 printers attached and 1 scanner. One printer connects with LPT1, the other with USB and the scanner is USB also. I want to share all these within my local network. For that, I installed Samba. When I start the Linux box, the parallel printer starts to print rubbish. I supposed that was a problem with the printer itself, but I switched on alone without the printer

Printing with samba + lpr
Hi. After hours and hours of problems I finally got my HP LaserJet IIIp to print via my samba server. The only problem that remains is that lpr (or lpq perhaps?) doesn't clean up in /tmp after printing. I've tried to find the problem by debugging smbd with strace (with -f) to find out what really happens. This is the only "error" i found when searching after

i can't print directly to my samba printer server...
Hi there Brian! I've seen your email on one of the samba mailing list. This has been my problem for a long time. I just want to share this problem directly to you and i hope you can lend me your help. I'm trying to setup windows printer sharing using SAMBA installed on my Linux box (Redhat 7.3 as printer server) and windows 2000 pro as my client. My win2k clients are connected to a

2.2.7 and printer status
Hallo Samba-Team, thank you for 2.2.7. The only problem I found is an old one: status of printers served from samba on Windows 2000 I'll try to explain this so clear as possible: If I have a Windows user "Administrator", which is in Windows administrative group "Administratoren" and this user is on Samba-side *mapped* to "root" --> printer status is *ok*.

Parallel printer error
Hello folks: The introduction: Great product this Samba! The problem: I am trying to migrate an HP LaserJet 4 printer in our office off a VMS system and hang it directly off the back of a UNIX machine. I have created the new entry in the printcap (see below) file on that machine and can print from UNIX - no problem. I created the share in Samba with what I think works pretty well (see below).

A problem sharing printer with win
Hello: Somebody can solve me this problem?: 1- I have been installed the RedHat 6.0. I have an HP 670C printer configured like an HP 560C and works well in Linux. The problem appears when I want to share to print in other computer since Win95. I have installed Samba 2.0.3, and I see the printer since the computer Win95. Problems with Intel Netport Printserver and Samba
Running RH6.0 I am able to print just fine from linux, the problem now is getting smb printing working. I am using an Intel Netport Express PRO/100 printserver. Previous to my upgrade from RH5.2 when I had the printer directly connected to the samba server, I was able to print just fine from the windows client machines (not using the raw method) My /etc/printcap is as follows ##PRINTTOOL3##

printers: access denied -- but why?
I am running 2.2.3a-12.3 on Debian stable with Win2k machine and an XP machine on a small home network. I have only just started using printer support and seemed to have it fine with a postscript and a "raw" connection for the HP LJ5MP printer (with internal PS) working fine from W2k and WXP. Then I took the server down as I'll need another parallel port in it. Rebooted after

Printing from Windows 2000
Hello all...I was having incredible difficulty in setting up my HP Color LaserJet 4500 to be shared on a Caldera 2.3 Linux server with access to it from Windows 2000 machines. I've been working about a week now (sadly enough) and I think I've made some progress mainly from information in newsgroups and online documentation. Here's what I have so far: I can print from the linux

Installing printer drivers
Hi, I'm trying to copy printer driver files to the server in a way that workstations can install from the server just by right-clicking on the printer icon and choosing "Install". I created the [printers] share and created the W32X86, etc directories. In XP I right-clicked on the printer icon and installed the drivers. It looked like it worked. Looking at it from the linux side,

Windows client refuses multiple print copies when printing to samba printer
Hello I have got the following problem: My Samba printer doesn't allow multiple copies, when trying to print from a client machine. (Unix printing works fine with multple copies). When I enter more than one copy into the "number of copies" field on a WinXP client machine, I get the error message "This printer cannot print the specified amount of copies. The amount of copies is

Printing troubles.
Hi, I've recently set up LPRng on my system in preparation for moving my organisation to a Samba/Linux based printing solution. I have a test printer properly set up, and issuing lpr commands from the command line works fine. I also have Samba set up with domain security and all the file sharing is also working OK. Whenever I try to print a test page to my Samba shared printer, I get the

HP Deskjet 1000c
Howdy all - I have Samba 2.0.3 running like a champ on a dual PPro 200, 128 MB RAM, running Slackware 3.6, kernel 2.2.5. Running like a champ as far as file sharing is concerned, that is. I have an HP Deskjet 1000c hanging off the parallel port. I set up a raw printer in /etc/printcap, the line looks like this: dj1000|DeskJet 1000c:sh:lp=/dev/lp0:sd=/var/spool/lpd/dj1000 the printing section

Printing to samba server doesn't work
Well, not like it should. I can capture a printer with the "net use lpt1:" command, but I would really like to be able to print to any one of the three printers in my printcap. NT gives me the error: "The parameter is incorrect". I attached the error message screen below, in .png format. This worked for the last printer I had. All I changed was the printer and the

Can't print to NT printer
I need some help with getting this NT printer setup with Samba server. I think I have modified all the required files and don't know what else is missing. An outside observation should find the missing link. Here is my /etc/printcap: lp:\ :cm=NT printer :\ :sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp:\ :af=/var/spool/lpd/acct:\ :mx#0:\ :if=/usr/local/samba/bin/smbprint:\
