jetdirect printer configuration
I am trying to set up a jetdirect plotter in our network (samba server running un suse linux 6.2). When I start printing from on of the windows boxes everything seems fine but the printing files only show up in the spooling directories on the samba server. The plotter (HP Designjet 650 C) never receives anything. Here are the relevant parts of my smb.conf and my printcap file: PRINTCAP:

HP Jetdirect, Intel Netport, Samba, And Windows XP
Hello, I have a bunch of Windows XP Pro machines, Samba 2.2.4, and several plotters on Jetdirect cards, and several printers on Netport 10/100 Muli-port network print servers. I have successfully configured Samba 2.2.4 to allow Windows XP to join the domain controlled by Samba and automaticaly create its own computer account on Samba. I would now like to setup Samba to share all the printers

Designjet 1050C, JetDirect question
Any problems serving up this plotter with Samba 2.2.4? I am using RH 7.3, the plotter has a jetdirect card. I am not using samba print drivers, just passing it through raw to 192.168.21.50:raw1. Planning to let windows 98 clients use their own drivers. I couldn't get a job to print (from linux or windows). I ran out of time for today, picking up again on Monday. Any gotcha's I need to

JetDirect
Hi, WOW, this was posted over a year ago! A response now. The problem still exists. As reconfirmed in a post i read not to long ago (within the last 2 weeks?). HP jetdirect cards can only do one thing at a time. (HP has been writing Jetdirect firmware for 5 years, PLEASE HP you _MUST_ have the ability to fix it?! Or don't you??) This can be confirmed if you have an NT only shop. In the

Slow printing to HP jetdirect from cups
I've googled for this and poked around linuxprinting.org, but couldn't find anything helpful. I have a CentOS 5 server with an HP LaserJet 4 attached via JetDirect with the hplip driver. The problem is that when I have multiple print jobs in the queue, there is a delay of about 15 seconds between each job. This gets very annoying when there are 10-15 one-page jobs in the queue.

NDPS or JetDirect Printing RH 7.1 Wine 082002
Anyone manage to print to an NDPS printer. The Server is NW5 and there is no Bindery context or ques. When trying to print a test page I just get and error saying there was an error. I could print as a JetDirect que, but I can't seem to get it to work. I put in the IP address and can ping it, I just can't print to it. It asks for a Que name but I am not sure what to put in for a

Tested with Firefox 3 Beta 5 and Opera 9.5 Beta 2 Can anyone confirm this? -- Heiko Adams <heiko.adams at gmail.com> -------------- next

How to set up spooling for a HP JetDirect interface?
I've set up Samba and LPRng for HP printers with JetDirect cards. It works for one user at a time. But if the printer is off-line or busy, the samba client does not get an error message, but the job gets lost. :( I would like the print jobs to be spooled on Linux even when there is an active print job or when the printer is off-line. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with lpd. The

Anyone successfully using a HP 8000 DN (with JetDirect module and IP) with samba?
Anyone successfully using a HP 8000 DN or HP 5 Lsi (with JetDirect module and assigned IP) with samba? Subject says it all. If you're successfully doing this, what configs made it work? FAQs tell how to set up with a print server, but what if the printer itself is the server? Trust me, the HP doesn't know jack about port 139. Using samba 2.0.4 on Solaris 7 and NT 4.0 SP5 with

IP printing to Jetdirect boxes
All, Hey hey, am new so if this is way basic, flame on. ;-) I have a Dell Poweredge 2300 running RedHat 6.0 and whatever versions of samba and such that are part of that distribution. Samb 'works' from the standpoint of file sharing and printing in a sense. The issue is that the printer is an HP Laserjet 4 connected via an external HP Jetdirect box running IP. The only connection to

bwplot: how to display response variables separately in same panel?
Hi - I have two response variables 'y1' and 'y2' and a factor 'x'. I would like to create paired box-whiskers plots for y1~x and y2~x and labeled for the same x. the b-w plots would be side-by-side in the same panel - almost like a barchart with two parallel columns for the same x. the code 'bwplot(y1+y2~x, outer=T)' gives me two side-by-side panels. this is ok,

avoiding expression evaluation when calling a function
Another question on functions - I have something that looks like plotter<-function(i){ temp.i<-rwb[rwb$vector1 <=(i*.10),] with(temp.i, plot(vector2, vector3, main=(i*.10),)) mod<-lm(vector3~vector3-1,data=temp.i) r2<-summary(mod)$adj.r.squared rsqrd[i]<-r2 legend("bottomright", legend=signif(r2), col="black") abline(mod) rsqrd<<-rsqrd } I'd

Hey Folks... I get the feeling that this has probably been covered before, but I could not find the answer in the "back issues" of the mailing list so here goes. I am running a linux machine with samba loaded. One of the other folks that I work with is running NT Workstation 4.0, Service Pack 3. I want him to be able to use a plotter on my linux box. Printers inaccesible
Hello; I have a strange situation. About a year ago we upgraded to samba-3.0.10 from samba-2.28a and joined the samba server to an AD domain as a member server. The migration went smooth. Everything fell in place just right -- until a few weeks ago that is. A few weeks ago we aquired a new plotter, and while setting it up to be used, we encountered the first problem. We were not able

Printing permissions problem
OK, I just took my first non-root user live on my Samba 3.0.7 system. Printing is via cups, with drivers stored in the print$ share. This user is a local power user. She can add printers, or root can add them. Root can also print from them. If this user tries to print anything (a test page even) she gets a non-verbose error that looks like a permissions error. She can view the queues
