(Un)Locking shared DOS application
Hi, for some time now I'm trying to create the best environment/solve a sharing conflict around a DOS application (Clippered dBase I suscpect) that one of our clients is using and distributing over about 20 Sun 450's on a shared service 'servershare'. On every Sun there are multiple Windows 95 clients connected to diverse shares amongst which this 'servershare'. On this

ldap_bind: Can't contact LDAP server (Solaris 2.6)
Hi, I'm having a problem with one of the servers, an Sun E450 Solaris 2.6 box, that after some time it will no longer be able to send out LDAP requests to the LDAP server. The response to every ldap query is: ldap_bind: Can't contact LDAP server Checking the netstat output I see a lot (over 300) of TIME_WAIT state request to the ldap server: r0104su03.34321 mailhost.389

smbtar problem
I was using smbtar to test backing up an NT server, everything works fine except that for quite a lot of the files it has an error downloading them(probably 2/3 of them actually). All it says is : Error reading file \dir\dir\file. Got 0 bytes Didn't get entire file. size=533, nread=0 I could see this happening if the file were opened exclusively such as the paging file, but to my knowledge

LDAP functionable? ldap.c does not compile on Solaris 2.6 /SWAT bug?
Hi, Is there anybody who succesfully compiled 2.0.4b INCLUDING LDAP support "--with-ldap"? And on Solaris 2.6 (2.x)? I first had configure run with also the NISPLUS option, but didn't want that after all. I had a lot of problems trying to get Samba accepting connections anyway. That compiled oke: there's a little bug? in the SAMBA source somewhere however, because I always get

Printing to samba server doesn't work
Well, not like it should. I can capture a printer with the "net use lpt1:" command, but I would really like to be able to print to any one of the three printers in my printcap. NT gives me the error: "The parameter is incorrect". I attached the error message screen below, in .png format. This worked for the last printer I had. All I changed was the printer and the

smb_krb5_open_keytab failed (Key table name malformed)
Hi. I joined a fileserver system with Samba version 4.5.12-Debian (fileserv) in an Active Directory domain managed by a Samba 4.6.7-Ubuntu installed on another system using "realm discover" and sssd. The Samba fileserver is correctly joined into the domain and I can correctly browse AD users: root at fileserv:/# getent passwd my.user

What would the ideal server setup be?
I have one dedicated server for all my various projects (both PHP as well as Rails) and will be getting a second server to run only the Rails apps on. What is the ideal server setup in terms of RAM vs. Processor Speed (more RAM or more processor speed?) and should I use Apace, lighttpd, mongrel, or what? I''ve got the money to afford something pretty solid...just don''t know

how to calculate the ideal value for client.event-threads, server.event-threads and performance.io-thread-count?
Defaults should be fine in your size. In big clusters I usually set event-threads to 4. [LLVMdev] Ideal way to build llvm and friends?
Hi all, I'm a maintainer for the llvm ecosystem for nixpkgs[1]. Currently only clang and llvm are up-to-date, but I'd like to move to building all of the packages listed on the release page for the latest version (and in particular, have libc++ and compiler RT integrated in with llvm/clang). Right now we're using the CMake build, with llvm and clang being built as separate

Ideal RAID-1 Stripe Size for IMAP Server ?
Hi there. I'm currently configuring a brand new email server(IMAP) which will run CentOS 6.3 x64. So lots of files on the data volume. I'm confused about stripe size for my data volume. I'm using 2x500GB for OS in RAID1 and 2x2TB SAS for DATA in RAID1 which is hosted on a HP Smart Array P420 Controller with 1GB in Cache/Battery Backed Up. Both these array's are on the P420

Ideal number of clusters using the Fanny algorithm
Hello, Could someone please let me know the procedure for determining the 'best' solution with regards to the number of clusters using the Fanny algorithm for computing fuzzy clusters? The function requires a specification of the number of clusters a priori, but I am interested in determining what number of clusters would result in the ideal fit with the data. Any help/advice/pointers to

how to calculate the ideal value for client.event-threads, server.event-threads and performance.io-thread-count?
Dear All, I just implemented a (6x(4+2)) DISTRIBUTED DISPERSED gluster (v.3.10) volume based on the following hardware: - 3 gluster servers (each server with 2 CPU 10 cores, 64GB RAM, 12 hard disk SAS 12Gb/s, 10GbE storage network) Is there a way to detect the ideal value for client.event-threads, server.event-threads and performance.io-thread-count? Thank you in advance, Mauro Tridici
