cross-subnet browsing
I have 2 subnets. Subnet 1 has an NT WINS server. Subnet 2 has a Samba server acting as domain master browser and local master browser for a workgroup. If I view the network neighborhood from a Win 95 PC on Subnet 1 (call it PC_A), I can see all the hosts in the workgroup on both subnets. If I view the network neighborhood from a Win 95 PC on Subnet 2 (call it PC_B), I cannot see PC_A. I

Memory leak in 2.0.7?
I have been experiencing a problem here after having upgraded last week to 2.0.7 (from 2.0.4b) on Solaris 2.6. The smbd processes are growing in size until they are taking over the system. I just had to stop and start samba on a system that had smbd processes of 26 M, 24 M of which was resident in memory for most of the processes. After stopping and starting again, the processes are back down in

samba 2.2.7a and multiple logins...
Hello I use a new samba server with LDAP support as PDC for some Windows2000 and WindowsXP machines. All is working nice. The useer can login with a user/password in the domain, we have remote profiles, the user can access the samba shares and print etc. But after some time (< 1 day) we get a smbstatus output like the attached file. Users are connected multiple times with the same share

Windows 10 spawning thousands of child processes on Samba 4.3.11 server
I am thankful for all support received so far and I feel I'm getting closer to a solution. To get back to basics and a more transparent setup I have made a clean Ubuntu 16.04 installation and followed this guide https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_Samba_as_a_Standalone_Server Windows clients users are logged in with username Admin (local account, administrator). The samba share is

OS X Clients Unable To Create Subdirectories?
I asked about this a few days ago, but none of the suggestions have made any difference... asking again in the hopes I'll find more things to try.... Linux: Ubuntu 9.10 Samba version: 3.4.0 OS X 10.6.2 I'm running samba on a local linux server, with a bunch of shares. Over the last several years, this has worked perfectly in our heterogenous network of OS X and Windows. All my windows

OS X Clients Can't Create Sub-Directories
I'm running samba on a local linux server, with a bunch of shares. Over the last several years, this has worked perfectly in our heterogenous network of OS X and Windows. All my windows clients still work perfectly - my users can mount the samba shares and create, rename, move etc files and folders. However, recently (starting yesterday) my OS X clients are unable to rename any sub

Found MS-Word 97 & Samba bug : diagnostic found!
Hi all, I have a bug with Version 2.2.3a-12 for Debian GNU/Linux (custom 2.4.20 kernel with aacraid support (DELL PowerEdge 1650 with RAID mirror, etc)): Some users have, SOMETIMES, a READ ONLY set on files, where no one except them use this files. I'm in oplocks=false because of MS-Excel 97 issues, and, no need of fast performances at the moment (<10 users). I put a /home/public

"Cannot delete non-empty directory"/"Operation not permitted" with file-creation on target-server
Hello Everybody, I was searching for an answer myself for quite some time without success, so I hope somebody can clarify...I use rsync to sync webcontent from one server to another. Apache-details: * Apache runs as nobody:nogroup. * Source-Server-Rights htdocs: The rsync-user gains access via o+rx * Destination-Server-Rights htdocs: The rsync-user is in the group 'nogroup', gains

DFS enumeration on a Samba hosted DFS tree.
I've translated a Windows based DFS tree to a Samba based (3.0.23c) one and it seems to work quite well from Windows Explorer and cmd.exe. First off, I have a relatively big tree. grep dfscmd /root/dfs.cmd | wc -l 1614 One issue I've noticed that tree enumeration and manipulation from a Windows machine to a Samba based DFS root just doesn't work at all. For instance dfscmd.exe

reloading configuration in icecast chroot jail on a redhat system
Hi, Over the weekend I decided to create an icecast relay for Nicecast. I wanted this to run in a chroot jail on a redhat server. There did not seem to be much on the web about setting this up; I'm including some details here. This is my first encounter with icecast; I'm hoping to elicit comments and criticism (e.g., if my post is too long). First, there did not seem to be a startup

Samba 2.0.6, MKS' touch.exe, and file/dir time stamps
Hello all, we are experiencing problems with samba 2.0.6 and the MKS touch command. during our builds, we touch files and directories so that our make dependencies work correctly. Unfortunately, it seems that MKS' touch.exe doesn't actually change the time stamp of a file or directory. The command returns without an error, but the timestamp does not change. The same problem exists
