password server problems and permission inheritance
Hello,
I am attempting to replace an NT server with Samba (2.0.4) under
Linux (2.2.9) here at Plattsburgh State, and have 2 questions about a
couple of snags I've run into:
1) Is there any way to specify a password server that has a space in its
name? I keep getting errors in the log saying "Cannot find server
WINDOWS" and "Cannot find server SERVER" (our NT server has

Using rsync to backup remote server as root
Hi there,
I use this rsync command to backup "/" of a remote server:
rsync -Hav --delete --exclude-from=backup.excludes --delete-excluded -e "ssh -p
45658" root at samwise:/ /mnt/backup/samwise/backup
Where:
samwise: is the name of the server (yes yes, I know, naming computer after
Hobbits may be considered bad form)
45685 is the port samwise is listening on for ssh.

IAX Peer/auth issues WAS: Netlogic inbound DID issue
Has something changed in the recent modifications to Asterisk that would
break dialing of the IAX peer? We're getting these authority failures
everywhere.
Everything is configured just the way it was half a year ago, this is
the message we're getting on the most recent vers of asterisk. Wiki says
nothing, nor does the ast-dev list..

Samba4 questions?
I have been doing some work with the new Samba4 version and have some
questions. Is this the right list to ask on, or is there a development list
that would be better?
(I am currently following the Samba4 HOWTO Wiki at:
http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/HOWTO, and building from the "git"
repository. The system seems to be working well, but I have some questions

GLMMGibbs crashes on seeds data
Hi all
I know GLMMGibbs is still in beta but has anyone experienced (and
solved ;-) this problem?
I decided to look at the seeds example but I get a core dump on two
intel linux boxes and also a sun workstation. All are running R1.3.0
but different hardware/OS's so I think I've done something wrong

Migrate Users from existing Samba4 Domain?
I've been using one Samba4 server based on a Fedora14 distro, but because
of my continuing issues with Bind 9.7 and dynamic DNS updates, I'm trying
to move to a Fedora 16 base, which includes Bind 9.8 by default (not to
mention a bucketload of other updates).
My question: What is the best way to pull the current domain data from the
first server to the second one? In particular, I'm

Cannot install 'libdcrypt_openssl.la' to a directory not ending in /usr/lib/dovecot
Hi,
I asked how to build x64 rpm, so discussion about EOL operating systems
is totally off topic. :(
?
FYI, I'm still managing 4 production RedHat 6.2 (Zoot relased year 2000)
based MTA servers and they
are using latest self compiled and updated kernel, latest dovecot,
postfix, openssl, openssh, bind etc,
so they are in top shape and working well.
So official EOL is just for dummies. :)

sem: incorrect parameter estimates
Hello.
I am getting results from sem that are not correct (that's assuming
that the results from my AMOS 4.0 software are correct). sem does not
vary some of the parameters substantially from their starting values,
and the final estimates of those parameters as well as the model
chisquare value are incorrect. I've attached some code that
replicates the problem. The parameters in

FreeNAS/Samba Group Permissions with LDAP
I'm not sure if this is an LDAP issue, a Samba issue, a BSD issue or a
FreeNAS issue...
I'm working at migrating a large block of file shares from an aging
CentOS/Samba 3.0.9 server to a FreeNAS (8.0.2) server. (The FreeNAS box is
running FreeBSD 8.2-RELEASE-p3 and Samba 3.5.11.) I will eventually be
migrating the entire domain and user base off of that server, but for the
time being, I

CentOS 5 is end of life since April 2017. Don't use it! There is no good
reason to build anything for it.

[Bug 285] 3.3p1 on Linux 2.2.x doesn't accept connections
http://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=285
------- Additional Comments From dtucker at zip.com.au 2002-06-23 20:31 -------
Disabling PrivSep (add "UsePrivilegeSeparation no" to sshd_config) should get it
working on 2.2 kernels.
3.3p1 defaults PrivSep to on. Previous releases (that supported it) defaulted to
off.
