Wastebasket/Recycle bin?
Am I missing something here?
Unless I am wrong, the "Recycle Bin" works only on
LOCAL drives.
I have not seen any options for network drives on any
of my 95, 98 or NT clients, or NT servers. Somebody
correct me if I am wrong, and tell me how to enable it.
Like Jonathan Kelly, I mirror network drives at night to
a backup server which writes them to tape during the
day. The backup

Browsing only works when in Samba workgroup
Hi,
We have a central Samba server which works fine. It also supplies WINS
services which work fine. It also builds a browse list which seems to
work fine.
However, when I open 'Entire Network' on my W95 desktop machine on
another subnet, I only see the workgroups / hosts on my subnet. The 95
machine is pointing to the Samba server as a WINS server.
If I change the workgroup of

RSync on NT
Hello,
I've been struggling to get RSync to work between two NT workstations (I'll
call them A and B). I've got Cygwin installed on both and RSync running as
a service on machine A. I want to replicate some files on machine A to
machine B. I issue the RSync command on machine B and here is what I
get....
(Issued on machine B):

logistic regression
I have a system with a binary response variable that was hypothesized to
follow a simple logistic function. The relationship between the continuous
independent variable and the logit is clearly not monotonic. I have two
questions. 1) Can anyone recommend a reference that describes my modeling
options in this case, and 2) what facilities does R have to deal with this
situation?
Thanks,
Kevin

Solaris hardware crypto engines
Hello,
I tried to find out how about to use the hardware crypto engines under
Solaris (Sun Fire T2000). It seems, that its not just a compilation issue:

compressed root pool at installation time with flash archive predeployment script
I was trying to think of a way to set compression=on at the beginning of a
jumpstart. The only idea I''ve come up with is to do so with a flash
archive predeployment script. Has anyone else tried this approach?
Thanks,
Chad

error in logs, but system appears to work
I'm bringing up a system with dovecot that has been running for years with uw-imap. In making the
switch, I put a tail on the log file, made the switch, and sent a test mail and received it. I was
able to receive mail with no apparent difficulties, but the log file was disconcerting. A number of
users connected during the few minutes I had it running, and for each of them there was an

error - dovecot - child (login) killed with signal 16
We've been happily running Dovecot in Solaris 10 for about 8 months now.
Yesterday, Solaris 10's SMF put it in maintenance mode (shut it down) seemingly out of the blue. The
only thing going on was that I had updated the ssl certificate. We had previously been using a self
signed cert. Now we have a cert from InCommon. We had a problem with a few users who are still on

imap core dumping on signal 10
We are just trying to bring up a new server and chose to use Dovecot
rather than the uw-imap from our previous servers. At this point I am
just testing with some throw away accounts using squirrelmail. I can
load my inbox, but then the imap connection is lost. I presume you need
some real information to get your teeth into, so this is going to get a
little long. I'll give you three things

Why 2 login failures before success?
Running Samba v2.0.4b on a RedHat v6.0 system, I find that when I log onto
the server running Samba my authentication fails twice before succeeding.
I get these messages in the Samba log file:

smb_password_check failed. Invalid password given for user 'steve'

Samba not using my RAM for shared memory?
The Samba v2.0.4b doc says:
share modes (S)
These open modes are not directly supported by
UNIX, so they are simulated using shared memory, or
lock files if your UNIX doesn't support shared mem-
ory (almost all do).
Yet I have these files on my (RedHat v6.0 / kernel v2.2.10) system:

Win98: net use works, Map Network Drive doesn't; no browsing, either
Hi all!
I'm using Samba v2.0.4b with Mac OS X. My Win98 machines are giving me
behavior that I'm having difficulty diagnosing:
* The server doesn't show up under Network Neighborhood.
* Map Network Drive doesn't work with the "netbios name" I specified. I
may be confused, but it doesn't work with the "workgroup name", either:

smbtar/smbclient recovery problem
I am having trouble using tar (or gtar) to recover files built using smbtar
and smbclient (v2.0.4b). The files are loaded on an exabtye tape - the
script runs on a Sun/Solaris-7 box and the files being tar'd are on an NT
box (v4sp5). There are no error messages when the tape is built, but when
I try to read it tar will just stop about 1/3 of the way in (total size is
about 850MB). After
