Compiling on AIX3.2.5
I have tried to compile 2.0.4b and 2.0.5a on AIX3.2.5 and it
gives a problem when I test it with "smbclient -L bigserver",
that was discussed in the archives. I thought it was fixed.
It gives:-

Couldn't set effective uid to 207. Currently set to (real=0,eff=0).

MS Word from samba share
A few days ago I send a message titled "A samba question or a mutt question".
I got a few repies but they suggested wide work-arounds to the problem. I
have done some more work and it is clear it is not anything to do with
the mail side of what I was trying. The question or problem I have is
essentially this:-
How do you double click on a MS Word icon to bring the document into

problems with JGR and standard R GUI closing during calculations
Hi R help,
I am having problems running calculations in both the standard R GUI (ver 2.11.0) and the Java GUI for R (1.7-2) in Windows XP Service Pack 3 (2.2 GHz processor with 2 GB of RAM). When I try to import my data and run calculations on it, the GUI closes within a minute, sometimes almost instantaneously after I try to import data to then run the rest of my script. Has anyone had this

Collapsing Categorical Variables
Hi,
Suppose I have a categorical variable called STREET, and I have 30
levels for it (i.e. 30 different streets). I want to find all those
streets with only 15 observations or below then collapse them into a
level called OTHER. Is there a quick way, other than using a for()
loop, to do it? Currently what I'm doing is something like:
### Collapse STREET (those < 15)
st <- c()

[attachment_fu] Allways triggering after_attachment_saved callback
Hi,
I use attachment_fu in one of my apps and recently I''ve realized that
udpates are taking too much time. After some debugging I''ve found that
attachment_fu is calling after_attachment_saved callback no mather if
attachemnt has changed or not.
For example this code:
after_attachment_saved do |photo|
logger.info "after_attachment_saved"
end

Snom Record / Voice Recorder Button
Hi List,
Has anyone got the record button to work on the Snom's? Im looking to have
it send a email with a attachemnt of what the user records I hope. It looks
like you just point the button to exten@proxy and just have that extension
record it. Any clue on how to do this, just use Record() or
Voicemail(s1234). Any suggesstions, any luck with this?
Thanks!

More on parallelism
Many of you probably remember the flurry of posts that I created a few
weeks ago about writing a parallel vorbis encoder. Here's what I have
been doing since...
Someone (I can't remember who offhand -- might have been Greg) mentioned
using threads instead of MPI for parallelism on the argument that more
people have SMPs than who have (and know how to use) an MPI
implementation.

Hi,
i am trying to compile llvm in a 64 Bit PowerPC machine with Yellowdog Linux 6.1 operating system. I could compile llvm but when I was trying to compile the llvm-gcc4.2 front end the compilation aborted with following error message:

why variations in accuracy between R to ARCGIS for the same point reprojection?
Hi everyone,
I wonder if anyone knows the reason why the outputs of the same
reprojection in r and arcgis are different?. The magnitude of the
change can be up to 40 km in the poles.
Basically, I have a database of points equally separated by one degree
over the globe.
In ARCGIS, I am projecting the data in GCS-WGS-1984 and then
reprojected it to Berhmann to ensure equal area

[LLVMdev] RFC: Patch for Exceptions
Hi all,
This is a (very) rough patch to fix building LLVM with exceptions on
PPC Darwin. Basically, it puts the burden of adding the "--enable-eh"
on the specific target, which is where I think it should go.
If this is okay, then I can clean the patch up and submit it.
