DVD Shrink - no DVD devices found
I am new to Wine and really struggling. I'm trying to get DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter running on my Kubuntu 5.04. My system is current. I have a 2.8Mhz machine with 1Gb memory and lots of space on my 160Gb hard drive. I have a Plextor DVD+-RW and an HP CD-RW. They are /dev/hdc and /dev/hdd respectively. Here is my /fstab file: # /etc/fstab: static file system information. # # <file

persistent generic device for tape changer
I've taken you as far as I can go. ?Now you will have to experiment a bit for your use case. ?I should point out that at least in my system, the link with the serial number in it shows up even with the line commented in the rules file. As always, YMMV. On Thu, 2019-02-07 at 22:29 +0100, Helmut Drodofsky wrote: > Hello Ron, > > sounds good. I have 2 tape changer. I persume, udev

Hello Ron, sounds good. I have 2 tape changer. I persume, udev creates the same link for both. Can I modify SYMLINK+="changer-$env{ID_SERIAL}" The serial should be unique. Problems running apps from Samba 2.0.0 share on NT 4.0
Ever since I upgraded from Samba 1.9.18 to 2.0.0, I've been having problems with applications started from a Samba share dying silently, or with an Illegal Instruction message, on NT 4.0 Workstation. Since the only configuration change has been the Samba upgrade, that would seem to be the orgin of the problem. Below is my smb.conf file, in case I have something configured (or not configured)

persistent generic device for tape changer
Hello, mtx and therefor amanda use generic device /dev/sg<x> for tape changer. These devices change on reboot. How to make them persistent? /dev/sch0 and /dev/sch1 seem to be persistent. /dev/tape/by-id/ shows links from WWID to generic device An UDEV rule could help? I have not found any example. -- Viele Gr??e Helmut Drodofsky Internet XS Service GmbH He?br?hlstra?e 15 70565

Questions on smbclient messaging
I'm running Samba v2.0.5a on a RedHat v6.0 system. This server provides SMB shares to Win98, OS/2 and Linux clients. Everything is running fine with the Win98 and OS/2 clients, but I have a few questions regarding Samba and Linux clients. 1. Is there a way for Linux systems to receive SMB messages? Something analogous to Windows' "WinPopup" or OS/2's "Network

Re: Multiple client access same file
Ohh, hmm. I'll try it at work if I get some time and see what happens. I have a Samba benchmark I can run against one of our unused servers, and I'll try to have 16 "users" access the same iso copied and mounted twice, just as you're doing. I might not get time to do this next week, so in the mean time, a good troubleshooting technique is to strip any as many smb.conf

I just installed Wine into Ubuntu 10.4, from Ubuntu's Software Center (the installation instructions at WineHQ didn't work). I've tried installing a couple of Windows programs from CD (a set of clip art images from Nova Development Corp, and Willmaker Plus from Intuit). Every executable I've tried generates the following standard error message: Archive:

Wine fails to install Adobe PS
I have tried a few rtimes now to install Abobe PS7 (not a crack) on the latest Linux Mint and now on Ubuntu 8.10 64bit. I am having the same problem in both. Is it because my new comp is a 64bit? An error occurred while loading the archive. [/media/cdrom0/Autoplay.exe] End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part
