good editor for R sources ?
Dear all, (Sorry if the question has already been answered.) Could someone please suggest a good text editor for writing R sources ? (I know emacs exists ... but I find it a bit heavy). I use crimson (http://www.crimsoneditor.com) which is small and simple, but the R syntax seems not to be supported. Thanks for any advice

R version 2.01.1, Crimson Editor and the "one" from nowhere
Dear List.... sorry to bother you R-gurus with such an "unstatistical" question... but I face a problem using Crimson Editor with R 2.01.1 that I never had using R 2.00.1. I already posted on the Crimson Editor forum but it seems to be VERY few R-users there.... I successfully used R v2.00.1until now (under Windows XP professionnal, version 2002, Service Pack 2, P4 processor CPU 1.8

Applications that need admin privileges
Hi guys, I have a working samba and openldap pdc which is actively being tested. I have a group of users that have specifics tools to use such as oracle client tools (sqlplus etc). I tried to logon as a test user and run the sqlplus but nothing happened, I tried adding this user to the local poweruser group but it produced the same result. Can this be achieved? It works fine if this user is a

functions not found after installing DBI/RDBI packages
Hi, I would like to be able to use R with a connection to a PostgreSQL database. I am using R 2.0.1 on windows XP. I have tried installing both the DBI and rDBI packages (which is better?) but in either case I run into the same problem - when i try to use either the dbDriver or dbConnect functions i'm told the function couldn't be found. Seems like the packages aren't installing

crimson editor
Hello, Sorry about the last email, I just found the shortcutkey for sending, by mistake :-( OK. I am a windows user and I wanted to instal emacs. However, went to speak with the information staf on the institut and they told me that that is a bit problematic sometimes, and that there is a free soft that could do a very similar job which is crimson... This is like a note pad, but highlights the

Security Hell
I have been trying to setup two samba servers on Fedora Core 2 for the past 30 hours and am about to jump out a window. I'm simply trying to create a few shares that multiple WinXP clients can have readonly access to and a select few have write privilages. Also, a few shares that are are private for a select few users with write privilages. In all cases, anybody should be able to browse the

dimnames in array
Hello, I'm working with an array; I'm trying to make it so that an array of dim(42,2,2) has names whose length corresponds to that of the array, and am hoping someone with experience with this can see what I'm not doing correctly: data11 = array(0,c(41,2,2)) y = lsoda(x0,times,fhn$fn.ode,pars)#This is make.fhn() from colloc infer package# y = y[,2:3]

Better be quick! I am adding FMA4 and XOP now, and if you contribute code before I do, you can spare yourself some XOP merging. - Jan ----- Original Message ----- > From: David A. [LLVMdev] Removing old JIT CodeEmitters for ARM and PPC
The current 3.2 code branch has events being broadcast from the MCJIT engine when a new object is emitted, but the profiling listeners do not do anything with the events (and I don't expect they will before the 3.2 release becomes official). I have implemented some code in trunk since the 3.2 branch to traverse the emitted object and pick out named functions in the IntelJITEventsListener. An

Power analysis for MANOVA?
Hello, I have searched and failed for a program or script or method to conduct a power analysis for a MANOVA. My interest is a fairly simple case of 5 dependent variables and a single two-level categorical predictor (though the categories aren't balanced). If anybody happens to know of a script that will do this in R, I'd love to know of it! Otherwise, I'll see about writing one

Alternatives to merge for large data sets?
Hello, I am trying to merge two very large data sets, via pubbounds.prof <- merge(x=pubbounds,y=prof,by.x="user",by.y="userid",all=TRUE,sort=FALSE) which gives me an error of Error: cannot allocate vector of size 2962 Kb I am reasonably sure that this is correct syntax. The trouble is that pubbounds and prof are large; they are data frames which take up 70M and 11M

Tukey Kramer with ANOVA (glm)
Hello, I am performing a BACI analysis with ANOVA using the following glm: fit1<-glm(log(Cucs_m+1)~(BA*Otter)+BA+Otter+ID+Primary, data=b1) The summary(aov(fit1)) shows significance in the interaction; however, now I would like to determine what combinations of BA and Otter are significantly different (each factor has two levels). ID and PRIMARY substrates are categorical and included in
