NT logon problem
Hi!
I have Samba 2.0.0 running on a SPARC Solaris 2.6 box with a minimal smb.conf. I
have enabled WINS support and this works as well. Everything works fine except
for one NT box. Test 8 in Diagnosis.txt fails with:
System error 5 has occurred.
Access denied.
The NT box is setup as a server, though only used as an ftp-server. Samba
recognizes the NT server. Being a Unix guy myself, I

SAMBA partial digest 2125
Hi!
I have just installed Samba 2.0.0 on a Sun server running Solaris 2.6.
Everything works fine on the server, but not when I try to connect from a PC
running Win98. I foloowed the steps in "Diagnosis.txt" and everything is fine
until I try Test 8, namely to run the command "net view \\servername" on the PC
client. I then get a wrong password error ("Error 86").

SMBMount and backup application
I would like some advice. I am considering the best way to restructure my
backup scheme on my NT network. I would like to see if it would be
possible/feasible to use cron, smbmount, some SCSI tape drives, and some type
of archive tool to backup my NT shares to a RedHat box using Samba. What do
all of you do out there? I would envision a situation where each night a
script is run by cron that

Neither scp nor sftp works (2.5.1p1 and Solaris 2.6) :(
Hi,
sorry about bothering you like this but despite several tries my recent
posts to ssh at clinet.fi never appear on that list, and I don't know where
else to turn.
I was unable to get sftp/scp to work when using OpenSSH 2.3.0p1. No one
could solve this problem and evenutally I was told to try "a recent
snapshot". Now I've installed 2.5.1p1, but still no cigarr :(.

Win clients on other subnets
Hello!
I have Samba 2.0.0 installed on an UltraSPARC server (Solaris 2.6, NIS). I only
use Samba for file and printer sharing (I have about 15 Win-clients). My
smb.conf is minimal. Everything works fine.
Now I want 5 more Win98-clients to use the Samba shares. However, these are on a
different subnet. When I try 'net view \\myserver' on one of these boxes I get:

Re: Red Alert / Red Alert II / Tiberium Sun: Overriding wsock32.
Using posix file capabilties you can give wine only root permissions for creating raw sockets. A lot of distributions are doing something similar these days for ping which also required complete root permissions before.

WinSock & Wsock32
I am struggling with the simplest thing, I think! I am starting with a fresh config file from the 20020605 wine distro and trying to get the ARS Remedy User win32 based software running. Part way through the install it tell me I need to install "Winsock 2". By this I am assuming it is looking for the 32-bit winsock Dll's, wsock32.dll * ws2_32.dll. I have tried many variations of

Re: Red Alert / Red Alert II / Tiberium Sun: Overriding wsock32.
When I worked on Wine's ipx code for Red Alert and friends posix file capabilities weren't around yet. I haven't used them yet. You can find info about it on http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/library/l-posixcap.html
I think that you need to set the property on wineserver.

language issue
Hi,
can someone advice me? I use wine to run some programs from Xilinx to
create source files for FPGA-construction. When I call the programs through

The warning is no problem as such but I get maybe 50 - 100 identical
warnings which mean that the relevant warnings and error messages 'gets

Red Alert / Red Alert II / Tiberium Sun: Overriding wsock32.dll to avoid IPX
Background:
Red Alert / Red Alert II / C&C / Tiberium Sun uses IPX for LAN play.
According to AppDB, this works, at least for Red Alert II (Orginal RA
is not on the first page of Google results...), but it requires Wine
to be run as root.
Since I do not have IPX installed and I'm not normally in a mood to
recompile my kernel, and the Windows users that I want to play against

Asterisk memory problems
Hi guys, we have the following problem
After putting our Asterisk/PHP application on production, there is one big
problem, ie memory leak after a period of usage (about 20MB after 2 minutes)
There are also two more info that may help:
1) Asterisk consumes 495mb of memory on this production server, while only
42kB on local/development machine
2) agi_ccmain (and other agi scripts) consumes 146mb

Interpretation of hypothesis tests for mixed models
My question concerns the logic behind hypothesis tests for fixed-effect
terms in models fitted with lme. Suppose the levels of Subj indicate a
grouping structure (k subjects) and Trt is a two-level factor (two
treatments) for which there are several (n) responses y from each
treatment and subject combination. If one suspects a subject by
treatment interaction, either of the following models seem

Newbie samba3/smbldap-tools questions...
Hi all,
I have set up a test configuration with Samba 3.0.2a and ldapsam/nss on
FreeBSD 5.2.1, one PDC and two BDC's on different subnets. Most is now
humming along quite well and I need to get a grip on the administrative
side of it.
- Is it possible to use the NT4 usrmgr.exe to administer accounts? Have
people used to nothing but Windows who needs to add/delete users. I have

Prompted for passwd on NT after succesful logon?
Hi,
this has probably been answered before but I couldn't find it in the archives,
so...
Sun SPARC Solaris 2.6 and Samba 2.0.0, plain passwords (no smbpasswd, only Unix
usernames and no NT domain). Everything works fine, but those using NT are
prompted for username and password when they first access a share, even though
they have already logged in to the NT-box using the same username
