Shares are comming and going
Hia, I have a problem using the %G parameter. At the end if my smb.conf file I have something like: include = \etc\smb.conf.%G At this way I hoped that according the the group, I can load a configuration file accoring the the users group. Instead that a 'smb.conf.it' group is loaded, a samba tries to load 'smb.conf.nogroup' (guest account is uid=nobody gid=nogroup) WHat I

Regarding Samba issue
I am experiencing a problem with all time stamps having the same date and time stamp. I found this bug report http://us1.samba.org/listproc/samba/June1998/0239.html and see there is a fix. The question I have is has this issue been resolved in later versions of Samba code. It would be easier to upgrade than deal with a code change and re compilation. SMBFS stack overflow?
Sorry about the previous message... Note that the maintainer listed in MAINTAINERS is no longer active, so perhaps it should be updated? I've found a problem with SMBFS and *really* long pathnames. It causes the kernel to OOPS, and sometimes corrupts the kernel stack. I've even had it corrupt the SLAB allocator so bad that no binary could be run :) REPORTING-BUGS format answers, let

SWAT issue
I have had a RH5.2 server running Samba up for a long time. I upgraded to Mandrake 6.0. It broke Samba, so I reinstalled using the RPM on the CD. Samba works just fine, but SWAT will not! If I try to start it manually (/usr/sbin/swat) it just hangs. In /etc/services I have a line like this: swat 901/tcp In /etc/inetd.conf I have: swat stream tcp nowait.400 root

Hi, currently I am running Solaris 8 and I am trying to install Samba so that I can run smbsh to access a Windows server. I do the following: ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/samba --with-smbwrapper make make install All the documentation I have seen says what I am doing is correct. After you compile and install it (./configure --enable-smbwrapper ; make ; make install does it) you simply run it - it'll give you a login/pw and your usual shell prompt. You then can

FW: samba woes
All, I have been working on a component that is included with samba called SMBSH. The binary allows you to automount your NT shares by accessing your profile . I have been working on this for the last few days and have been unsuccesful at getting it work. Now I am not much of a programmer, but I did my best to try and troubleshoot this. However it just does not want to work in Linux. I

Samba for VMS
I just installed Samba for VMS (1.9.17p4) on a DecServer 1000A running VMS 7.1 The University Network is primarily NT Server 4.0 SP5. My experience is with Netware and NT, not with VMS, but I have the luck of supporting the system..... My main question is about Encrypted Passwords.....Does this release of Samba support them, or do I have to modify the clients who want access to our Alpha to

freebsd and smbmount
Hi, I don't know how many people on this list use samba with freebsd , but I have a question. I have samba set up and can connect to my other win conputers using smbclient but I am told that freebsd does not have smbmount. i need to mount my win hard drives in order to back them up. Is this possible some way with samba under freebsd. Thanks Rick -- Rick Knebel rknebel@uplink.net
