This is great news since I too have this problem. One question please. Could this be causing a problem where a win98 machine cannot write new files to the samba share (but can read and edit a file just fine)? Other win95 machines can write just fine to this share. Rehat 6.0 w/ stock samba (sorry don't know it and don't have access right now) thanks charles >Someone else has

New RedHat 6.0 rpm's available for Samba 2.0.4b.
Hi all, I have made a RedHat 6.0 i386 binary rpm of 2.0.4b with the glibc2.1 configuration fix available at : ftp:<samba.org mirror>/pub/samba/Binary_Packages/redhat/RPMS/6.0/samba-2.0.4b-19990527.i386.rpm This rpm is to be preferred over the one on the RedHat 6.0 cd as it contains an autoconf configuration test to work around the glibc2.1 bug w.r.t. 64 bit locking (the one that

Access 97 on Wine 20041019
Hi all, I'm having trouble getting Access 97 working with Wine 20041019. Word and Excel work just fine, as far as I've used them, but Access simply refuses to start. I've installed off an original installer CD through the WineTools ( 2.11jo) utility. I customised the install, removing everything except for the basic application files for Word, Excel and Access. I've also

Ldap.h missing in samba-3.0.0
I have downloaded samba-3.0.0.tar.bz2 (and samba-latest.tar.gz) and attempted to run "./configure --with-ldapsam --with-winbind --with-pam_smbpass --with-smbmount --with-ads --with-ldap" Only to find that ./configure complains of a missing ldap.h file. Does anyone else have this issue? I'm trying to do a simple setup to having a Linux box communicate to my Windows 2000 Server PDC,

[homes] share(s)
I got back from school the other day and set up samba to avoid hearing questions from my father about "why can't I see your computer from my network neighborhood" etc etc and he wants to mount my mp3 files.. I also set up the standard homes share, but besides being able to connect to _his_ home directory, he is able to _any_ home directory! This is definitely not the behavior I am

RH6.0/Samba Oplock Problems (and fix)
To any one who is using Red Hat Linux 6.0 (or, presumably, any glibc2.1 system) I recently installed a new RH 6.0 system on Intel. After installing my samba and my network application I noticed that I was experiencing oplock problems that were not present with the same version of Samba on my RH 5.2 systems and caused my application to not function. Since the problem seems to be with oplocks I

Need a bit of 'archeocomputing' help on CentOS 7.
I have an application with is binary-only, does its job well, and is only available for either libc5 (!) or early early glibc2.0 (!!). It has been running on a Red Hat Linux 5.2 (NOT RHEL; RHL) server for a really long time, and it honestly does its job and it's not easily replaced by an open-source solution at the moment. So, I need to do one of the following things: 1.) Run Red Hat

file locking with win apps
Hello there, I have a serious file locking problem with samba on a RH6 based Linux machine. >From the exported share a database files are being requested. Problem is, only one client can access these - and even only one client can initialize the database query engine, which is btrieve 6.15 workstation engine. The same problem affects .doc files. If one client has an open document, the file is

Ok, I've tried all the "common" fixes, such as turning oplocks off on the share. Twice a day the database has to be repaired. running samba-3.0.7-2.FC2 Here's the pertinent section: comment = Aeries path = /home/aeries valid users = @aeries read only = No create mask = 0770 directory mask = 0770 inherit permissions = Yes

Locking Problems with Samba 2.2.7
I have a new Dell server running Red Hat 8.0 Linux. I just downloaded and installed Samba 2.2.7 from the Red Hat Web site. I am having trouble with Microsoft Access 2000 data base locking. The program runs in a runtime version (.mde)on each client. Only the database(.mdb), the permissions file(.mdw) and the lock file (.ldb) are resident on the server running Samba. Each computer can individually

Re: problem with libraries in MS Access XP
Hi I just ran into this problem as well. The MS Access Runtime tells me: "This file is located outside your intranetor on an untrusted site. <application name> will not open the file due to potential security problems. To open the file, copy it to your machine or an accessible network location." The file is in the regular wine location. The Runtime is started as follows: env

Hi guys I setup my samba4 server with provision. (pdc1) Then I setup a DC using net vampire after rolling back to commit 62e0a74 to bypass mdw updates that broke net vampire. (pdc2) I had to manually add to the zone in pdc1 the follwoing records to get replication to work: I made all the modifications in named.txt to bind pdc2 IN A 192.168.48.236 <PDC2-GUID>._msdsc IN CNAME pdc2

So finally I got the net vampire to work. I had to roll back to commit 62e0a74 bypassing all the updates done by mdw at samba.org for now. Now the replication PDC1 is the first domain controller created by provision PDC2 is the second is the second domain controller created by net vampire on PDC1 I added user using "net newuser testuser1" in few seconds it appeared on PDC2 using the

laod multichannel-audio-files with readWave (tuneR)
Hi, I have a huge collection of 6-channel .wav files containing audio and sensor recordings, which I need to analyse, across all 6 channels. I'm thinking about what will be easier to do. 1. Just split the channels in an external audio-editor and than read each mono channel seperatly with readWave (from tuneR), or 2. inherite the readWave class and extend it to multichannel reading? What
