smb transfer
Hello samba gurus, I'm just curious if there is a way to have samba be able to restart a transfer of a file from the point that it left off? I'm guessing that it was never intended for that use, but I thought I would ask anyway. I have a Cisco router with about 95 modems in it and roughly 850 remote NT machines connected via a WAN (dial-on-demand with Cisco routers). My company was

LP print service stalls
Hi All, When our server receives simultaneous print jobs from 2 or more clients, the print service stalls and I have to manually restart it (lpsched). I am running Samba 2.0.4b under Solaris 2.5.1 on a SPARC 20 and I'm using system V printing. The printers are connected to the ethernet using HP Jetdirect cards and administered by jetadmin on the Sun box. Any ideas on how I could troubleshoot

DG/UX R4.20MU03
Has anyone had any experience with ssh and DG/UX? I tried the ./configure and it could not determine the hosttype. After that problem was worked-arounded I get a LOT of warnings about declaring functions multiple times and then the compile fails with: packet.c: In function `packet_set_interactive': packet.c:803: `IPTOS_LOWDELAY' undeclared (first use this function) packet.c:803: (Each

Print jobs merging?
I have a problem going on here, that I hope someone out there may be able to help solve. We run SAMBA 1.16p11 under Solaris 2.5 to serve about 60 Win95 clients. Thirty of these clients are printing to three HP laserjet printers, each printer with a JetDirect card which uses lpsched on the Solaris server as their print spooler. These spools have been defined as BSD-type devices under sysv's

smbpasswd fails on Samba 2.0.3, HPUX 10.20
I have been unable to make smbpasswd work on my new Samba version 2.0.3 (HPUX 10.20). The smb.conf was modified from a working version on Linux (version 1.9.18p8). The relevant (I hope) output from smbpasswd, smb.log and testparms follow below. Are the log messages about "Couldn't set effective gid to -24 currently set to (real=0,eff=0)" and "Can't become connected

JetDirect
Hi, WOW, this was posted over a year ago! A response now. The problem still exists. As reconfirmed in a post i read not to long ago (within the last 2 weeks?). HP jetdirect cards can only do one thing at a time. (HP has been writing Jetdirect firmware for 5 years, PLEASE HP you _MUST_ have the ability to fix it?! Or don't you??) This can be confirmed if you have an NT only shop. In the

Suppressing headers, printing via NT
I've just set up lpd to print to a postscript printer attached to an NT server, using the Redhat 5.2 version of the smbprint command. Eventually I'd like this machine to be the department's standard lpr->SMB gateway. It works perfectly, except that since smbclient always logs onto the NT server with the same ID, no matter who prints the job, the same NT-generated banner page gets

SysV interface script
A long time ago, on a mailing list far away, I promised to send the SysV interface script that I use with success; the supplied one is a bit, err, basic... Well, one thing led to another, and I quite forgot, so without further ado, here it is (usual disclaimers): #!/bin/sh # # This interface script drives a PC-attached printer via the SAMBA utility. # # This script is a gross simplification of

sshd 7.8p1 close connection from VMware Fusion NAT Port Forwarding
After upgrading my VMware Fusion (10.1.3) Arch Guest to the latest with OpenSSH upgraded from 7.7p1 to 7.8p1, found that ssh from macOS Sierra (10.12.6) host to Arch guest via local NAT port forwarding failed, but via Arch LAN IP worked, downgraded OpenSSH from 7.8p1 to 7.7p1 fixed the problem. Any idea about this bug? VMware Fusion NAT Port Forwarding setup: VMware Fusion ? NAT Port Forwarding

smbprint & .config
I seem to have some issues coming to terms with the new smbprint configuration. Not that it is all that new, but I have worked on a ton of AIX Samba systems that are runing 1.9.x and the smbprint worked great in all aspects. The box's couldn't be upgraded (or so said the company that did application builds related to Samba). The printers were and are hosted from windows95 workstations

printer giving Access Denied
I have 2 printer queues setup on my samba 3.0.6 NT4-style PDC. About a month ago, one of them stopped working due to an issue with CUPS. After restarting CUPS, printing to that share was giving Access Denied. From a windows box, I was able to add drivers and set default print settings as a domain administrator but I still couldn't print. I created a new printer share pointing at the same

BUG + FIX in smbprint
Dear Samba Team, the smbprint script as provided with Suse7.2 for Samba Version 2.2.0 did not work. The problem was that the file to be printed was not transfered via stdin after the print - command. I changed the smbprint script to pass the commands via the -c option. My changes and comments are marked with MR27092001MR in the smbprint attached. I did not find this in the lists, so I hope this

Sharing a windows printer problem
Hello. I have been trying to print to a windows printer share with no success. So far I have found out that the smbprint does not execute. I verified this by looking at the logfile=/tmp/smb-print.log (from smbprint script) after printing from windows - this logfile was not created. Also, i verified the path of smbclient and it points to the proper directory. I am using Debian , and samba

Need to add NIC drivers to PXELinux
Does anyone have a link to good instruction on have to add drivers to PXELinux? I imagine I need to cram them into its initrd.img file. I am using PXELinux to help me deploy Linux systems from WDS and we just received in a bunch of Dell R720xd systems that are going to require new NIC drivers and possibly Mass Storage drivers. Thanks Jon Weatherhead - 51596
