Network is STILL busy...
Here is some log output that occurs on the production during the process of
issuing a net use command from the win95 box to the samba server. The
connection reset by peer message appears immediately after the error 54
network is busy message appears on the windows 95 machine. (This is debug

Network is busy
Ok, I've gone through the list archives, and there's a bunch of questions,
but no answers. I'm referring to the Error: Network is busy when logging in
from both Win95 (a and b versions) and Win98. It seems to never give this
message unless the Windoze machine has been rebooted forcefully - it seems
as if the samba server hasn't realized that the client has left, and is
locking

SUMMARY: Samba 2.0 and passwords
I would like to see those of us who send an inquiry to this list also send
a summary of what fixed the problem so that someone in the future could
find the answer. I searched archives for an answer and only found
questions. Since a lot of folks reply ot individuals then even the replies
don't end up in the archives and so it would be nice if summaries were sent
to the list. Anyway, enough

oplock_break failed
Hi,
I am running Samba 2.0.3 on Linux Kernel 2.2.5 (SuSE 6.1) in a test
environment with a Win NT server (PDC), the Linux box taking over step by
step the file- and printserver tasks, and Win 95 clients. Samba is setup
with security=domain at this stage.
It just happened again what I have seen only a few times before. When I use
Outlook 98 on the Win95 machine and want to access the

SAMBA PROBLEMS ON A DATA GENERAL
Ok, I'm not too sure if this is the right list or not. I have had no
problems compiling Samba on any of our machines, except our 2 DGUX (Data
General Unix) systems. Once I start the make file, is when I get a bunch
of "Error code 2 (ignored)". I think its the compiler, but not sure.
I'm running MU05 on the DG, hopefully one of you has had this same
problem before. DG's sight

Bad smbclient put performance and smbfs write performance
Hi,
I've had extremely bad smbclient put performance when connecting from my Linux
box to a Windows 95 box. I only get about 10KBytes/s! All other forms of data
transfer work fine, and I get from 600-700KBytes/s. This is on a local 10BT
LAN. I've seen a few other reports of this, but no solutions as of yet.
smbclient does puts just fine to another Linux/Samba Server. I'm using

security = server & encrypted passwords
Folks,
I've missed the latest encrypted passwords thread, so forgive me if
this is old hat for some of you.
I'm running 2.0.3 with auth being handled by an NT PDC. It seems that
some Win95 clients (namely those with later releases of the OS) have
problems authenticating. I've got encrypt passwords = yes but it
still seems only the old Win95 clients (clear text passwords) can
auth

network busy
The clients can't connect , they get the message , "servernot responding,
network is busy" .
Although Samba (v 2.0.0) seems to run properly on the server (AIX 4.3.3) .
Thank you for any help

AsOf join in R
Hi,
I tried to google for any solution for asof join operator in R. But I
couldn't find one. The asof join operator AsOf(A,B) merges 2 time
series by looking for latest available value of B prior to each time
point in A. For example,
A <- xts(c(10,15,20,25),
order.by=as.POSIXct(c("2011-09-01","2011-09-09","2011-09-10","2011-09-15"))
B <-

Win98 and Samba
Has any tried to connect to a samba server while using Win98 beta 2 as a client?
I keep getting incorrect username/password errors in the samba log file and am unable to either map a drive or connect to a shared resource.
With debug level set to 4 on the samba serve the main error seems to be error in packet at line 129 for cmd=117 (or something like that).
If anyone else finds a fix for this,

Connection Problems
I am having problems with Samba. Things have been working I think but
they aren't now. We have 2 class C addresses, one doesn't seem to be
having as many problems as the other. When folks on the 207 side try
to connect to Samba shares they can usually but right now are failing
and getting a network busy error.
The file called log. which appears to be a system log file for samba

Can't connect to samba from foreign network --- 'Gethostbyaddr failed' error in log.smb
I have a samba server at ip address

I can connect to it from clients on subnets aaa.bbb.eee. and

I can't connect to it from clients on ggg.hhh.
smb.conf has
hosts deny = all
hosts allow = localhost, aaa.bbb., ggg.hhh.
The client can successfully 'ping mysambaserver' (resolves to
aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd). Doing 'net view \\mysambaserver' fails with

cannot access the homes directory
I installed samba 2.0.3 on linux 2.2.5. I set up a "homes" section in the
smb.conf. I can see the homes directory through win95 client. when I want
to enter, there is a pop menu asking to input the passwd. But it doesn't
require input user name. I input several users' passwd and failed. Then I add
user list in smb.conf, like "username=XXX,YYY". Still cannot enter.

S4 and connection slot [Sec=Unclassified]
Hi all,
I am having a problem trying to declare a slot representation to hold a file connection.
With V2.8.0 I had been using:
setClass("Element",
representation(
[other slots removed],
datafileConn = setOldClass(c("file","connection"))
)
)
This resulted in a warning but still ran okay.
No however with V2.9.0 I am getting

Hi all,
After an upgrade from R_2.10.1 to R_2.11.1 I am now getting the following error:
Error: evaluation nested too deeply: infinite recursion / options(expressions=)?
This occurs in the initialize method of S4 classes where I was initialising attributes eg:
.Object[['realtimeState']] <- list()
I can avoid this new error by altering the code to do:

password stuff
Greetings All:
I hope everyone had a fun Halloween weekend (I carved 4 big
pumpkins and gave out a bucket full of rubber eyeballs and stuff).
I'm hoping somebody can explain the password behavior I've been
seeing (and a couple of other things). Here's my setup:
An isolated LAN (most clients have modems for dialling out) with
one linux/samba machine (RedHat 4.2, kernel 2.0.30,
