Authentication error on weekends
Hi
I have a Linux (RH 7.0), and I'he configured on smb server one share to
only one NT user. This user is a tool used for file-transfer from MVS to
Windows using UNC file name convention. How I don't know the user's
password, I using SERVER security on smb.conf to validate the user. The
server that validate the user is the same where file-transfer tool runs.
During the workdays, it

samba and SMP
I've now tried 2.0.6pre2 with a SuperMicro P6DNF dual PPro as well as
the Everex StepDP/Pro dual PPro MB; same result,
large (more than 1 MB) file copies usually crash with only a message about
oplock errors in the logfile. Running a single CPU kernel works fine
(pre2 seems much faster, but I haven't done any testing).
2.0.5a does the same.

Problems getting my wireles connection to work
I have an Everex laptop (ick, but it was super cheap) that has an
Atheros wireless NIC in it, but I can't seem to get it to connect to
my wireless in-home LAN. Here's what I've done so far (that isn't
working) - any suggestions?

2.0.6 and FreeBSD 3.3-RELEASE + socket options = 2.5MB/sec
I am running FreeBSD 3.3-RELEASE with samba 2.0.6 compiled from sources with
patches taken from 2.0.5a (not the current FreeBSD port, but I'll be testing
that soon with 3.4-RELEASE).
The socket options file is
socket options = IPTOS_LOWDELAY TCP_NODELAY SO_SNDBUF=262144 SO_RCVBUF=262144
which is due to Martin Welk.
Currently large files (1GB or greater)are transferring at up to 2.7MB/sec;

FreeBSD 3.4-RELEASE/samba 2.0.6 problems
Synopsis: samba 2.0.6 running under FreeBSD 3.3-RELEASE is much faster
than the same running under FreeBSD 3.4-RELEASE, even after
replacing the 3.4-RELEASE kernel with the 3.4-STABLE kernel.
(This has been reported to FreeBSD GNATS as "kern/16605")
I have 2.0.6 running under FreeBSD using the following smb.conf:

From Linux machine cannot see XP machines share list anymore
Hi, I used to be able to smbmount a drive on my XP machine. But today I
tried and i got:
$/usr/bin/smbmount //systen/2017 /backup -I 10.0.0.11
Password:
mount error: No such device
Please look at smbmount's manual page for possible reasons
When I do:
$/usr/bin/smbclient -L systen -I 10.0.0.11
I get:
Added interface ip=10.0.0.10 bcast=10.255.255.255 nmask=255.0.0.0

[ANNOUNCE] OpenChrome DDX Version 0.6 released
Hi everyone,
Finally figured out how to use the X.Org automatic submission
script after realizing that I had to change the script in order for
OpenChrome DDX to build in the first place.
OpenChrome DDX Version 0.6 has added the following new features.
- First official support for CX700, VX700, and VX800 chipsets
integrated TMDS transmitter (i.e., DVI support)
- Initial support for Silicon

dates screwed up, help!
Hi, the problem I am reporting relates to RH Linux 6.0
I have successfully mounted a disk from a windows NT server machine,
using smbmount as follows:
$ smbmount //machine/service -c 'mount /mnt/NTgroups -u local_owner' -U
remote_username
and everything looked fine. Now I have just noticed that when "touching"
or creating files everything behaves strangely, that is the date is

Silhouette plot labels in package cluster
Hello everybody:
I have just started using R, specifically the clustering packages. Despite
the vastness of the functionality of the system, I have found it very
flexible and intuitive. It has been great fun to experiment with it.
Nevertheless, I am under tight time constraints to complete a cluster
analysis of some data and need to come up with a "quick" solution for the

assign NA to rows by test on multiple columns of a data frame
Given this data frame (a simplified, essential reproducible example)
A<-c(8,7,10,1,5)
A_flag<-c(10,0,1,0,2)
B<-c(5,6,2,1,0)
B_flag<-c(12,9,0,5,0)
mydf<-data.frame(A, A_flag, B, B_flag)
# this is my initial df
mydf
I want to get to this final situation
i<-which(mydf$A_flag==0)
mydf$A[i]<-NA
ii<-which(mydf$B_flag==0)
mydf$B[ii]<-NA

weighted average grouped by variables
Hello
an update about my question: I worked out the following solution (with the package "dplyr")
library(dplyr)
mydf%>%
mutate(speed_vehicles=n_vehicles*mydf$speed) %>%
group_by(date_time,type) %>%
summarise(
sum_n_times_speed=sum(speed_vehicles),
n_vehicles=sum(n_vehicles),
vel=sum(speed_vehicles)/sum(n_vehicles)
)
In fact I was hoping to manage everything in a

New Feature Request
Hi puppet masters,
while working on my site I came across a requirement that might be
helpful for others as well....
With the aim of confining human errors as much as possible, I
thought that it would be nice to have yum repositories disabled so that
specific repositories could be enabled for certain packages.
This is easily implementable via command-line, but I found that the

weighted average grouped by variables
Dear Massimo,
It seems straightforward to use weighted.mean() in a dplyr context
library(dplyr)
mydf %>%
group_by(date_time, type) %>%
summarise(vel = weighted.mean(speed, n_vehicles))

assign NA to rows by test on multiple columns of a data frame
yes, it works, even if I do not really get how and why it's working the combination of logical results (could you provide some insights for that?)
moreover, and most of all, I was hoping for a compact solution because I need to deal with MANY columns (more than 40) in data frame with the same basic structure as the simplified example I posted
thanks
