zpool mirror (dumb question)
Hi there! I am new to the list, and to OpenSolaris, as well as ZPS. I am creating a zpool/zfs to use on my NAS server, and basically I want some redundancy for my files/media. What I am looking to do, is get a bunch of 2TB drives, and mount them mirrored, and in a zpool so that I don''t have to worry about running out of room. (I know, pretty typical I guess). My problem is, is that

system() fails with fc.exe (PR#9868)
Full_Name: Jens Oehlschl?gel Version: 2.5.1 OS: Windows Submission from: (NULL) (62.159.183.42) Even when specifying the full path, the output of fc is not sent to R (neither shown nor returned). For example > system('c:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\fc.exe /?',intern=TRUE) character(0) When I do the same from python 2.3, I get >>> import os >>>

Samba clients can't see partitions mounted via loop device from image files
Is there something special about filesystems mounted via the loop device, which prevents Samba from sharing them? I have a small LAN with several PCs on it. It has a few Windows machines, and a Linux machine running Mandrake 10 (kernel 2.6.3), which shares out its root ("/") read-only as "c". (Temporarily, for testing, it is shared with full write permissions, which I know

'Administrator' account (UID 0) on Samba member of a Samba4 AD DC
Hi all, I have a samba server as member of an AD DC. In said AD DC there is the 'administrator' user which has the default UID of 0 (the same as root) from the ADDC: # id administrator uid=0(root) gid=513(SMC\Domain Users) groups=0(root),513(SMC\Domain Users),3000005(SMC\Group Policy Creator Owners),3000009(SMC\Enterprise Admins),512(SMC\Domain Admins),3000007(SMC\Schema Admins) from

using paste and "\" to create a valid filename
Sometimes even the easy stuff is difficult (for me)... I want to get input from different places to paste together an excel filename (so you know I'm using windows) that I can open with RODBC. I know about using double "\" since its an escape character, but I get either 2 or none, I can't get just one "\" where I need it. See example code below. I am using R 2.1.0,

GPO Permissions _AGAIN_
Hi all, I'm afraid I'm back to my old issue of GPO permissions. I have two ADDCs providing an AD Domain (internal.stmaryscollege.co.uk (short-name 'SMC')). Servers are called 'ad-01' and 'tainan'. ad-01 is 'Version 4.0.10' and tainan is 'Version 4.1.0rc4' (the latest version in the package repos of the respective OSs (arch and gentoo)) I have

Weird issue when accessing a samba4 domain member by IP vs hostname
Hi all, I seem to be posting a lot recently. I have just set up an S4 member server to a S4 AD DC. When trying to access from a windows XP client via \\xen-arch-s3-01 I get a username+password box which doesn't accept my credentials. If I try to access via \\192.168.0.111 I get straight on, no questions asked. Doing a loglevel 10 I see the following differences: \\xen-arch-s3-01 =

Problem with smbfs on 2.4.18 kernel
Hi all.. I have found some problems on smbfs module in 2.4.18 kernel. I compiled it by myself (not the very first kernel compilation in my life ;-)) and then I have got it. Looks like it touch smbfs module as when I recompile 2.4.18 modules with smbfs sources changed to sources of smbfs from 2.4.17 problem disappears!! My mainboard is Abit BE6 with Pentium III 450 MHz. I am using SuSE 7.3 with

DNS Domain Name vs Samba4 Domain Name vs NT4 Domain Name
Hi, I am unclear on the relationship between the hostname, DNS domain, server's FQDN, NT4 domain name, etc. Quoting the HOWTO: "For the rest of the HOWTO we will assume that your DNS domain name is samdom.example.com, your short (also known as NT4) domain name is samdom, your Samba server's hostname is samba and the IP Address of your Samba server is 192.168.1.2." What a Difference a NIC makes
Just to throw this out there for the group. I had a box of OEM SMC NICs and have been using them in all systems I build including * boxes. They seem to work great in Windows machines and even plain old Linux workstations but apparently not all that well when realtime is required. I would get random and usually sparse disconnects and lose registrations with phones and IAX peers. I kept getting

Hi everybody! I'm working on R today so I have a lot of questions (you may have noticed that it's the 3rd email today). I'm new on R, so please excuse the "spam"! I have a dataset "ssfa" with many rows and the column names are: > names(ssfa) [1] "SPECSHOR" "BONE" "TO_POS" "MEASUREM" "FACETTE"
