couldn't find service print$.
Dear samba users, I have a SuSE linux machine running samba 3.0.13 working as a print server. All works well for years now. Suddenly one of my machines (a terminal server) can't connect to \\printhost\print$ (as root) any more. Error message is "Configuration information can not be read from domain controller, either because the machine is unavailable, or access has been denied"

Windows printer status update fails
Dear samba admins, I have a samba/cups related problem. I am running SuSE 10.1 with cups 1.1.23 and samba 3.0.22. The problem is, that my windows printer status boxes don't reflect the samba printer queues. My test scenario: - I use "printing = SYSV" because I need to use "print command", too. - I installed a new printer named "test", called cupsaddsmb test. -

windows printer queue display fails
I am driving a Suse 8.2 linux with cups 1.1.18 and samba 2.2.7a. The problem: The host serves several printers via cups. If some jobs are in one of the queues "lpq -Pprinter" or "lpstat -o printer" shows up the complete listing. Fine. Connected to the same print queue from a Windows (XP/NT/98/2k) box I cannot see the complete listing. Sometimes I see some of the jobs, most of

Printing problem
Hi, I ran into a strange printing-problem: We're using OpenBSD 4.2 and Samba Version 3.0.28 and include our printers directly from /etc/printcap; whenever I enter a printername that contains numbers, smbd gives me the errors below. Any idea why samba messes up with digits in printernames? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- /var/log/log.smbd

lme and mixed effects
Dear r-help, With lme, is there a way to specify multiple fixed factors under one level of grouping? For example, for a single fixed factor, I use the following: fm1.lme <- lme(fixed=resp ~ fact1, random=~1|subj/fact1, data=mydata) I would like to have multiple factors under subj, like the following for a two-way design, but I get an error: fm2.lme <- lme(fixed=resp ~ fact1*fact2,

Installation Help, Please !!!
I have been having some difficulty with the installation of samba V2.0.3 on an ultraSparc 3000 server. I was able to get it built, I have configured, defined an smb.conf file, created an smbpasswd file, and I still get errors when I work through the Diagnosing Samba checklist. BTW, I have checked the conf file using testparms and corrected the problem mentioned there! I am using the newest source

windows printer queue failure
I am driving Suse 8.2, samba 2.2.7a, cups 1.1.18 As I mentioned recently I cannot see the cups printer queues from a windows client even if lpq -Pprinter on the cups server gives the correct status. I tested a litte more and got the following results: 1.) If I configure samba to printing = CUPS printcap name = CUPS I can see all queue entries in the windows status panel, too -- except

banners
Can someone tell me how to configure my unix printers so that no banner page is printed at the beginning of a print job? I have gotten the printing to work, but I want to stop the banner page. What file do I change to configure that? AIX, 4.2.1, with NT Clients. Thanks in Advance, Pattee Bender Uniform Color Company

Grabbing banners from other sites.
I want my banner ads to be rotated using ruby. So I try this <%= link_to_remote( image_tag("graphics/ select01.gif", :alt=>''Programming'', :size=>''100x20'', :border=>0), :update => "select01_div", :url =>{ :action => :select01_action }) %> and it works. But this

Printing banners
Hi I'm running Samba 2.2.8a on a UnixWare 7.1.3 box. I'd set up the Samba printer shares, and it seemed to be working fine (only live for a couple of weeks). However, I've just added some heavy users, and the printer daemon keeps bombing out. I'd configured the printers to use lpr, but someone suggested I should use lp, so I thought I'd give this a go at the weekend.

puppet, repos, security
Hello list, I am using puppet 2.7.20 from rpmforge, with a build date of Wed 20 Mar 2013. EPEL has an even older version. Then I see this: http://puppetlabs.com/security/cve/cve-2013-3567 that was posted on the month of July 2013. Do I understand correctly, that my puppet-master is vulnerable to remote code execution by every node that has access to master's port tcp/8140? If so, then

No text output in login console and shell
Hello, I have a remote IBM x3550 M4 server that I try to remote control through IMM2. The problem: only the blinking cursor is visible in login console. It moves when I type. It moves to where "Login: _" should be if I press ctrl+c. I can login if I enter the correct login and password, but the shell that I get also shows only the blinking cursor and no text. I can issue commands.

UMASK Problems
I have quite a problem with the new SAMBA version(s) ( both 1.9.17 and 1.9.17 p2). When creating a directory in a samba-mounted unix file system the create mask entry will be ignored. I tried a lot (changing umasks on the unix boxes (SunOS/Solaris), changing the create mask entry to a many different values) but nothing happens at all. Every directory will be created with the permissions of 755.

Samba Password Aging
Samba version 2.999+3.0cvs20020906-1 for Debian Somehow the Samba password is aging and is requiring a reset once a month for a couple of users. I can't see anything in the man pages to indicate that the passwords age, so how is Samba doing it, and how do I stop this behavior? One user is on Windows 2000 and the other on Windows XP. The Windows passwords are not aging and neither are

Some problems with mdf.c
Hello... I want to ask you something about your software implementation of MDF filter with DTD machanism. (mdf.c speex_echo.h files) My questions are: 1. What are theoretical (using in your articles) equivalents of index symbols from your program? 2. Could you describe or give me an algorith which was using during software implementation of the MDF+DTD 3. How I could freeze MDF by means of DTD

Re: transfers/parked calls + polycom 501
This is a dialpaln issue. I solved the same problem recently. For 4 digit extensions you need to append the dialplan statement in the sip.cfg configuration file as follows <digitmap dialplan.digitmap="[2-9]11|0T|011xxx.T|[0-1][2-9]xxxxxxxxx|[2-9]xxxxxxxxx|[2 -9]xxxT|1xxxT" dialplan.digitmap.timeOut="3"/> Michael > I am not sure what I did but blind transfers do not

ctdb_client.c control timed out - banning nodes
Hello, We are using CTDB / Samba to serve a number of windows users, at this point around 1200. We have a 4 node CTDB setup. CTDB version - ctdb-1.0.114.7-1 Samba Version - sernet-samba-4.1.16-10 In recent months we've seen a big problem when 1 of the CTDB nodes is stopped or disconnected either manually or resulting from a problem. On some occasions, all other nodes get banned if a node
