rsync 2.5.6 hanging
I am using rsync 2.5.6 on redhat linux 6.1 with 1gb

question is 77GB consisting of 391000 subdirectories
and files. when I run rsync with the following
command:

PATCH to Samba >= 2.2.1, accents and special chars
Okay, I've had some fun there. Let me tell I am no samba pro, so the patch
below _should be tested and tested again_ in _your_ environment before doing
anything close to putting your patched samba into production. It can possibly
break everything. You have been warned.
The mail is somehow longish, because sending a quick (and dirty) patch
without any explanation seems wrong to me. And

Funny Characters in Midnight Commander??
I'm on Centos 5.6 and I have a problem with the screen
showing funny characters when I run mc in a konsole
terminal window, under Xfce desktop.
Here's a link to what it looks like:

Any ideas why mc is doing this?
Kind Regards,

GlusterFS slowness due to updatedb cron job
We have seen at a number of deployments, users experiencing slowness of
GlusterFS over a period of time (as the volume usage grows). Some times it
happens once in a day. This is due to updatedb cron job script that wakes up
once in a day to index all the files it can find. It is configured by default
to ignore network file systems such as NFS and lustre. Please add fuse.glusterfs
to the list.

FYI : FiSh connection over SSH fails : midnight commander freezing
Hello List-Members,
the forwarded message below is an excerpt from an actual discussion from the
Midnigt Commander mailing list (mc at gnome.org, see www.gnome.org/mc/ for
details).
It`s about a bug and a yet half-implemented feature in the mc fish (File
transfer over shell) virtual file system support.
The FiSh filesystem allows the user to treat files on a remote server over a

How to kill a meet me room at midnight
Other than rebooting the server or restarting Asterisk from cron does anyone
know how to kill a meetme room at midnight. Or perhaps other creative ways
people deal with callers who don't hang up.

Script to softly restart Asterisk each midnight to clean locked channels
As Asterisk has inner problems and channels very often locks we have such
script to restart Asterisk each midnight.
We (our clients) mostly use v1.4.18.1. We can't upgrade to newer versions
because there are too much changes which would brake our system
(realtime/sip/iax2/cdr/etc/etc).
Script soft hangups all alive channels in dirty way then kills Asterisk and
starts it up.

terribly annoying bug with POSIXlt : one o'clock is midnight?
Apparently, as.POSIXlt takes one o'clock as the start of the day :

Minutes after midnight to time
Is there a quick function that can convert minutes (seconds) after midnight
to a time?
i.e 670.93 (minutes after midnight) --> 11:10:56.**
I know it can be done by hand but I thought there must be a function for
this already.
Thank you.

problem with unlist POSIX date at midnight
Dear R-users,
I use unlist of POSIX dates to extract the year, hour etc. With that I
can search for files in my database which are in the form
'yyyymmddhh_synops.txt'
However, I get stucked during midnight where unlist just gives NA's.
The script is given below, the problem accurs at acc.period[16]
(midnight). However when I write out the character, unlist works well.

samba shared client lib needs LGPL
I have repackaged the client support functionality in samba to support
applications requiring access to smb servers. It is a shared library
built using automake & libtool. It builds samba's smbclient utility
linked against the shared library for test.
The perpose is to use in gnome virtual filesystem. It is currently used
statically linked into midnight commander when configure'd

Can ices read/stream a remote file rather than a local file?
Would it possible to use ices to send to icecast an audio file that
it's not located on the same machine where ices is running, but on
another machine?
I've checked through the source code of ices, and found out that it
uses PERL's read function. Maybe by changing this code I would get my
result? What do you suggest?
If this is not possible, could ices in some way "upload"

Gnome Commander
Hello.
I use Centos 4.4 on desktop now and I was looking for gnome-commander, I see that RHEL or any RHEL based distro provides RPMs, only FC5 and FC7.
Also Dag repository have this only for FC1.
I would like know if there is anyo ther package better or similar to this, or any other package similar to Norton Commander.
Thanks

Supreme Commander Forged Alliance graphical problem
Hi
I've installed Supcom FA following the instructions on the appdb, and tried the suggestions there but to no avail, so I thought I'd try here to see if anyone could help. The game installs fine and loads up the menu screen no problem, but when I start a skirmish, once the map is loaded the screen flickers rapidly between the map and the loading screen. The game appears to be working

Supreme Commander crashes as game starts. Ubuntu 10.04 lucid
Hi,
I'm trying to run Supreme Commander Forged Alliance on my computer. The menus work fine, but when I come to start the game, it starts loading, crashes, then exits. On the game's winehq page, someone else had the same problem. The response from another poster was that setting the color depth to 24 bits fixes the issue. However, this doesn't work.
I'm new to wine, so sorry if I
