Win95 client on a remote subnet connot connect.
HI Samba admins I have a win95 client on a remote subnet, i.e on the other side of a router, where all broadcast are stopped in the router. On the remote site the win95 is connected to another samba server and novell server. I would like it to connect to my samba server, logging in with the domain userid/passwd. How can I on the win95 mount a drive with

samba, OnNet and Win95
I'm running into a problem with Win95 clients and I hope someone has a fix for this. Our servers are Solaris boxes providing file services via both NFS and samba (1.9.16p11). The Win95 clients were recently upgraded to the latest version of FTP Software OnNet which makes the NFS stuff almost transparent to the users. I'm not sure how OnNet hooks in to Win95 but you could map a drive to

Netlogon in Win95 ?
Hi, We try configure Netlogon/Profiles in Samba 1.9.18p7 to use in Win95, but the "login script" did not run in win95 login process. The net configuration is: Clients Win95 using Novell 4.2 and Microsoft in same time; Servers UNIX using Solaris 2.5.1 Server. The SMB.CONF is: ##START-OF-SMB.CONF # [global] workgroup = Samba-TEST local master = yes domain logons = yes

Browsing via Win95 ppp
While there is a lot about the above subject in the archives as well as FAQ's etc, I just can't seem to get this working. Our setup is a SCO 5 box running SAMBA 1.9.8p8 (the latest)on a network using a single domain and about 50 Win95 clients; and several remote Windows 95 clients which dial in using "dial up networking". Using explicit addresses, the remote clients can use

Problem Mapping directories in Win95/98
Hi, I've just installed samba and got it to work for me, but I have a problem mapping directories in Windows 95/98. I can map the Actual drive with: net use f: \\server\f But if I do: net use x: \\server\f\public /* We are migrating from a novell 3.12 sever */ I get an error 50. If I use the explorer shell to map the drives, it maps X:\ to the root directory (\\server\f). If I use

Win95 client can see everyone but linux box
Hi, I'm lucky enough to have samba working fine on SuSE 8.0, sharing a printer with several windows computers. Earlier today I even had my new wireless card working on a Win95 laptop and it could see the whole network, and I wirelessly printed from my living room. COOL. Unfortunately, I screwed it up. The wireless card seems to conflict with the old pcmcia (wired) card and so I

"Save As" fails to Samba drive, works on Win95, NT, Novell ...
Hi -- I originally posted the following message about 2 weeks ago -- I don't mean to annoy but really need to solve this problem - if anyone can shed any light on the issue I'd greatly appreciate it. Since the original post, we've run the application with its data on network drives shared from 95, NT, and Novell, and all work fine, as does saving locally. It only fails on a

Win95 login problems (after client crash)
We've noticed this behaviour when Win95 crashes and the next person tries to logon (we are using roving profiles, samba 1.9.18p10): - user logs in to win95 - user crashes client - boot client - user tries to logon, but it takes *forever* and eventually returns a "the domain password you suppiled is not correct, or access to your logon server has been denied" error - user tries

win95 ppp connection to samba- password again
thanks to the samba crew- we have converted several netware and nt user servers into one seam-less Unix network, except for one group, netware dialup users. ok, win95 client, ppp to linux server. using newest pppd, with correct ms-wins and ms-dns code. client can dial, gets wins server ips, etc. the client functions fine with tcp-ip stuff. the ppp server is the wins server. go to client and do a

german umlaute win95 client vs. Linux-Samba file server
Hello, I've a problem known especially to german speaking users (and other nationalities using special characters). I'm using Samba 1.9.18 and a linux 2.0.35 kernel I want to create a directory or file with a name containing german umlaute from the win95 client so that I can see it on the linux machine with the equal characters I've used under win95. On the win95 machine the new

Refusing password from win95 client
This is surely in a FAQ somewhere, but I can't find it. Latest ver. of samba on RH Linux 5.0, encrypt. passwds. My Win95 clients were happy. Then I used poledit to turn off password caching and now they are not happy. The problem is that they can't connect to their home directories. Guest shares are fine, and other shares that require passwords are fine, but when you connect to your home

dialup Win95 -> samba
Thanks to the four people who replied to my original posting (appended below, subject "Win95 problem"). I've made progress but have now hit a new problem. The solution to the original problem (How do you make a "standalone" client "log on to the network"?) was simply to tick the "Server Type/Log on to network" checkbox in the dialup properties.

Can't logon SAMBA server from NT client, but win95 could...?
Dear Sir: I found a problem on our LAN environment: * We have some NT machines for small-scale WWW services and LAN services * We have UNIXs with SAMBA to share resources, and provide large-scale WWW services It's OK to connect to the UNIX shares from win95 machines, but I found it always says that I have no permissions if I try to logon the UNIX shares from a NT client. win95 client problems (registry limitation?)
Howdy: I'm new to this samba stuff, but I've run across a problem that doesn't seem to be documented anywhere. It seems that OSR/2 clients (with all the M$ system updates; I already added the EnableClearTextPassword key) that have had their TCP/IP settings tweaked in the registry (eg, MaxMTU=576, TTL=32, RWIN added, etc) for DUN connections have mucho problems with a samba

Win95 Login strangeness.
I have 1.9.18p4 running on Linux 2.0.30 set to encrypt passwords and in user level security. All of the users registry; profile/s and personal data is stored in their [home] resource, all other shares to which the users have access are read-only and guest-access allowed. My Win95 boxes are set set to log into an NT domain with share level security and the primary login is to the Microsoft

Samba performance on Fast Ethernet networks when linked to Win95
Hello everybody, althought there are a lot of discussions on Samba's performance, I would like to share my results trying to connect Samba running on a Linux box to a Win95 workstation on a fast ethernet network. If any of you could have some ideas or suggestions , please mail me (cc: teo@flex.ro) because I am not (yet) on this mail list. First of all, may I present you : 1. THE SERVER -

Slow performance with Win95 client
Hi I am new to this list, but I have been having problems with samba for some time now. Here is the problem When my Win95 clients access the samba server I get real slow transfers, even if I only have one client accessing the server. It transfers at like 70k/s to 150k/s, and the collision lights on the hub start going crazy. even for 10 megabit networking, this is rather slow. (it takes like 3

Intermitent loss of contact with Win95 share.
Hello : One Win95 client, connected over a SLIP connection to an SCO Openserver 5.0 has been working fine until System Administrator has updated OS Version to Unixware 7.1.0. On this server (Unixware 7.1.0) , I've installed Samba 2.0.2 to access all Win9x shares. All shares on the LAN (connected via TP 10Mb cards) work fine, but when I print any job to Win95 client connected via SLIP
