Multiple (minor) problems
I spent around an hour yesterday hunting through the archives looking for answers to these problems - if they were there and I just didn't find them, I'm apologizing in advance. Anyway... I recently upgraded our Irix 6.4 (Origin 200) server from 1.9.18p8 to 2.0.3. Since then we've noticed several strange problems and I can't figure out how to fix them. First off, here's our

Failed Logins (ntang@rga.com)
Nicholas: Regarding your problem: "The SGI server is only serving files, no home directories, no printers (we have separate NT servers for each of those functions), and it is using "SERVER" level security. Encryption is on. Guest logins are disabled ... I'm confused greatly by this - one day, a user's login will work, another day, it'll suddenly stop working. "

sudden loss of password validation
The problem: Strangely, the PDC rejects user password challenges from Samba. The user account gets locked. After unlocking the account, everything is back to normal. This happens several times a day to different users and from different Samba servers. All Samba servers have the same [global] configuration. Is this a Samba problem? Is samba perhaps not passing along the correct password? If I add

Domain logins via PPP?
Has anyone been able to do domain logins via a PPP link? If so, how? I am running FreeBSD 3.2. I have 2 network interface cards on the machine, one to the internet, one to my local network. I am running ipfw (firewall support), as well as nat (network address translation). I have a ppp link which I am able to connect to. Once connected via ppp, I can ping/ftp/telnet to any machine on my

Debugging I/O Errors that abort the journal
I got a I/O error on one of my disks that caused the journal to abort (error below) and be mounted in read only mode. I rebooted and the file system check ran automatically and resolved the error. I did some searching around and couldn't find a likely cause (the disk is a virtual disk, shared from a SAN for VMWare ESXi5.0). An hour after bringing the system back up, we got another one.

I agree with you on other points, but beware of this one. I've discovered that game logins, notably Blizzard, are case-insensitive. It's quite

Frustrated with browsing, domains, and network logins ...
I'm trying to get cross-network browsing/domain logins working. In brief, I am very frustrated. We thought the initial problem was a browsing problem, but now it does not appear to be that. Even once the workstation can see the servers, it STILL cannot perform a Domain login, although it CAN access resources if I use the Ms Dos prompt and issue a 'net use ...' command. This

- MaheshaBSD: A Live CD Project From The Lake Mansarovar MaheshaBSD is the name for a Live CD project. Why Mahesha? What does it mean? Mahesha is one of the 1008 names of Lord Shiva ? Supreme God of the universe who stands above all gods. This name was chosen because Shiva?s weapon is the same as the FreeBSD?s one ? the trident. There is yet another important correlation ?

Hi Eric, I'm trying to install the drivers on XenServer 6.0.2 and on Centos 5.2/6.4. I downloaded libvirt 1.1.3. So, if I try to configure w/ xen and libxl, the configure script errors out saying - configure: error: You must install the libxl Library from Xen >= 4.2 to compile libxenlight driver with -lxl btw, I am trying to compile this on XenServer6.0.2 itself, and plan to use virsh
