Small question.
Hello, I have a small question. I'm currently using the [homes] section and when I am browsing with network neighborhood and connecting with a username and password, I see two shares, one named "username" and one named "homes" and both have the same content: the content of the "username" home directory. Am I doing something wrong or is it normal to see those

Unusuall Asterisk Usage Idea...
I'm currently trying to experiment to implement an idea I had to use asterisk for more creative call control. Currently on my test server at home when an incoming call comes in it will execute Dial() and ring a multitude of devices at the same time. (Including my cell phone via IAX outgoing trunk.) When my primary outbound IAX trunk is non-responsive (or fails) my backup trunk is a SIP trunk

Process per share control.
A long time ago, and I could be mistaken, I thought samba could be configured so that instead of a smbd process per user/machine it would spawn a process per share/user/machine. If it still can, could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks! Weldon Godfrey Sr. Systems Specialist Science Applications International Corporation

This is broken (and insecure) behaviour.
We are seeing erratic behaviour from Samba for connecting Unix drives to an NT terminal Server. Samba version 2.0.6 Solaris 2.6 NT Server 4.0 Terminal Server Edition with service pack 4 running WinCenter NIS Logon Utility. The NT server is not part of a domain and uses the WinCenter Logon Utility to authenticate username and passwords from my Unix NIS server. Samba is set up for server level

observations on nt smb support = no
We use Samba 2.0.6 as server, the clients are about 10 NCD WinCenter (NT 3.51 multiuser, WinCenter 3.0.34 based on Citrix WinFrame 1.6) machines with about 70 concurrent users each and several WinCenter (as above) and NT Terminal Server (NT 4.0 multiuser with MetaFrame/WinCenter (X11 addon)) machines. The 2.0.6 smb.conf manpage says: nt smb support (G) This boolean

Shares are comming and going
Hia, I have a problem using the %G parameter. At the end if my smb.conf file I have something like: include = \etc\smb.conf.%G At this way I hoped that according the the group, I can load a configuration file accoring the the users group. Instead that a 'smb.conf.it' group is loaded, a samba tries to load 'smb.conf.nogroup' (guest account is uid=nobody gid=nogroup) WHat I

reading VERY large binary files
Hello, I am trying to read in elements out of a very large binary file ... the total file is 4 gigs. I want to select rows out of the file, and the current procedure I run works but is prohibitively slow (takes more than a day to run and still won't complete). Is there any faster way to accomplish this? My current procedure looks like this: readHH <- function(file_name,

Virus checking
We are using samba to give our NT users access to our UNIX servers (running Solaris 2.5.1) and to give our UNIX users, using Wincenter, access to their UNIX directories. We want to be able to run a virus checker (Network Associates VirusScan) from a NT 4.0 workstation and have it check the samba (UNIX directories). Since we want to centralize this activity, I want to be"root" on the

aov() question
Hi all, So I think I have seen some similar questions to mine when I searched the archives, but have not seen any concrete answers and was wondering if any one could help. I have been trying to use R's aov() function to analyze my data. I have a 3 x 4 x 2 repeated measures design. All of the IVs are within subjects. I do also have missing values (unequal N), as I have to remove

Dynamic dns updates fail for (most) xp, vista and win7 clients
Hi Lucas ? Thanks, but the time is in sync on all clients and is updated on login by a login script. There's is no discrepancy in this regard between those clients that work and those that don't. :) ? Cisco router and "488 Not acceptable here" messages
Are there any known problems with Cisco routers (Cisco 837) and SIP sessions? I have been trying to track down a problem for about 3 hours now and I think the Cisco router is the culprit!!! I keep getting "488 Not acceptable here" messages, which are apparently normally the message you get when a common codec can't be found. I'm also getting "chan_sip.c:3434 process_sdp:

Memory leak in 2.0.7?
I have been experiencing a problem here after having upgraded last week to 2.0.7 (from 2.0.4b) on Solaris 2.6. The smbd processes are growing in size until they are taking over the system. I just had to stop and start samba on a system that had smbd processes of 26 M, 24 M of which was resident in memory for most of the processes. After stopping and starting again, the processes are back down in

ZFS ZIL + L2ARC SSD Setup
I have some questions about the choice of SSDs to use for ZIL and L2ARC. I''m trying to build an OpenSolaris iSCSI SAN out of a whitebox system, which is intended to be used as a backup SAN during storage migration, so it''s built on a tight budget. The system currently has 4GB RAM, 3GHz Core2-Quad and 8x 500GB WD REII SATA HDDs attached to an Areca 8port ARC-1220 controller
