Problem with file system
While I untar a large archive on xfs , ext3 (ver 1.3 and ver 1.4) file systems , on ppc processor and kernel ver 2.6.21 , I get an error. Also sometimes, on ext3 (1.3 and 1.4) the file system goes read-only while untarring. The same tar file when untarred on a i386 machine works properly. Building LLVM with VisualStudio 2017
Hey Bjorn, Were you able to figure this out or is it still broken for you? Our scenario is a little bit different, but I have a theory as to what may be going wrong. What linker are you using when you compile your project with clang-cl? I am wondering whether the version of the linker and/or the libraries that you are using is too old in comparison to the one used for the clang compilation.

[MCJIT] messy call stack debug on x64 code in VisualStudio
Hi, I'm using IR and MCJIT to compile a script language. I debug it with on the fly generated .pdb files. During debugging, almost each time I step into a function, I loose information about calling function inside the visual studio callstack view or I have a bunch of pure addresses in the callstack in between the current function and the calling function, for example :

[MCJIT] messy call stack debug on x64 code in VisualStudio
I've always just hacked support for this in to the various JITs (for JuliaLang, in our debuginfo.cpp file), by setting the no-frame-pointer-optim flag in the IR, then creating and populating a dummy unwind description object in the .text section, and registering that dynamically. Some day I hope to actually just register the .pdata/.xdata sections with the unwinder. PDBs are a bit different

ridiculous slow gigabit transfer, faster with VNC
Hi, I have a problem with file transfers between a windows systems and unix systems. I have one win32 desktop (intel e6400 2Gb Ram), one win32 laptop (p-m 2Ghz). Also one linux laptop (p-m 1.4GHz) and one opensolaris desktop (intel e4400 1GB Ram). The two laptops have built-in 100Mbit ethernet and desktops have 1Gbit ethernet on the motherboard. Both desktops use a Marvell Yukon. The file

Notes on booting CentOS 6 natively on GPT with an EFI bootloader such as Chameleon without BIOS GPT/EFI support.
Ok, did some experiments. Here's the scoop. You will need a live USB key of CentOS 6 with a persistence layer (overlay) and the EPEL gdisk package installed to make this thing boot. On a system with Chameleon already installed, boot the CentOS 6 install media. Installing Chameleon without OSX is an adventure that I've not done, so a 'testing' OSX install (10.6) with the

Bad smbclient put performance and smbfs write performance
Hi, I've had extremely bad smbclient put performance when connecting from my Linux box to a Windows 95 box. I only get about 10KBytes/s! All other forms of data transfer work fine, and I get from 600-700KBytes/s. This is on a local 10BT LAN. I've seen a few other reports of this, but no solutions as of yet. smbclient does puts just fine to another Linux/Samba Server. I'm using

Adaptec 39320A woes
I'm having speed problems with the SCSI card we're using to do tape backup. It seems to be functioning in 16 bit mode and the current thinking is that perhaps it's using a legacy driver instead of the correct one. The Adaptec site has a 'driver' for RHEL5 which I've downloaded and tried to install but it seems to have a problem installing on a CentOS-5 system. [root at

Created a custom/minimal CentOS 5.x install ISO
Hi all, I'd like to try rolling a somewhat stripped down and customized CentOS DVD. This is particularly interesting to me now that CentOS 5.5 is 2 DVDs. I dare not call it a new distro as I suspect I will be the only one to use it. ;) I've been googling for ways to do this, figuring it must be somewhat straight forward, but my google-fu is weak it seems. Can someone point me

3TB system drive partitioning question
so I want to install c6.2 x86_64 onto a 2.7TB /dev/sda ... its a virgin machine with no software, using pxe boot. disk druid or whatever seems to only want to let me have like 2tb of default stuff, I'm guessing because its not using GPT? do I need to preboot into a shell or something and use parted before I can install ? -- john r pierce N 37, W 122 santa

Help writing a Scheffe Contrast function for R
Hello, As a new user of R (less than a month) I have got my hands on several books and am pouting through the net looking for help in gaining understanding of this powerful tool. I am becoming more proficient with using basic functions to conduct basic statistics. I am now looking to learn how to write code. After a few small worthless functions I decided to try to create a function that was

[LLVMdev] Virtual Studio hack in APFloat.h
Hi all APFloat.h contains this code, which was required for Visual Studio builds. Given that this was committed in r41784 (2007), does anyone know if newer versions work? I think after moving to C++11 we’re on VS2013 at a minimum? I’d have hoped it would be more likely to work. Thanks, Pete /// What kind of floating point number this is. /// /// Only 2 bits are required, but
