Microsoft Access & Samba 2.0.3 - Can't open database
Hello Friends, Does anybody have the solution to the problem reported by Richard below? Is anyone else having problems using Microsoft Access97 to access database files via Samba 2.0.3? When I attempt to open the Access database from my unix account via Samba, I get the Microsoft message: Microsoft Access was unable to open the Visual Basic porject for this database. Another

Null PrinterName
Hi, I'm running Samba 2.0.4b on a Debian Linux (v2.2) PC. If I look at the "log.smb" file there are many messages: Attempt to locate null printername! Internal error? We have a number of print queues defined and they work fine. Here is a portion of the /etc/printcap: ================================================= # # Copyright (c) 1983 Regents of the University of California.

MS Visual Developer and Samba
I am running samba-2.0.3-8 on Redhat 6.2 in five global locations. All are fine except one. In this location when a user runs MS Visual Developer they are able to open, save compile and edit files just fine. However when they type either [Enter] or [Bkspc] to add or delete a line, in this case only MSVD hangs for several seconds. Insert several lines and wait 1+ minutes!!! I have watched the

Win2k Browse Problem
Hi All: I have a Debian 2.1 system running Samba 2.0.4 which works fine with Win95/98/NT4.0 but does not show the samba shares when the client is Win2k. You can mount the share OK even though it has a little red tail in the Windows Explorer, just can't browse to mount it. Do I have a problem or should I be patient and it will be fixed in the new samba release??? Thanks, Richard Hogue

Microsoft Access MDB database on Samba share
I'm having problems using Microsoft Access 2000 mdb files on a Samba share. The same database worked very well on a Windows server. I had hoped Samba would be a drop in replacement for a Windows server but apparently Access needs special Samba configuration. In Access I sometimes get Run-time error '3035': System resource exceeded. I don't see any errors in the log file when

No License error with Access97/Wine. How to fix it?
I am new to Wine. I have just installed it using RPM and I put all the DLL files (I was asked for by Wine) in the same folder as MSAccess. I get an error when I am launching Access97: "Microsoft Access can't start because there is no license for it on this machine" How can I get this to go away? Apollo

Performance Problems (VisualStudio)
All, Please help me defend Samba. We are having major performance problems when using VisualStudio to build projects. The source lives on the server, and the intermediate files are dumped locally to try to speed things up. One of the engineers downloaded a demo of NetManage/Chameleon NFS and it was significantly faster. Here are some numbers: samba-1.9.18p8 samba-1.9.18p8

call_nt_transact_ioctl(0x90060): Currently not implemented
Hi, We have a large (8 CPUs, 32GB RAM) x86 Sun server running x8664 Debian Lenny, with Samba 2:3.2.5-4lenny6. It's a BDC and file server. I have noticed various entries in the log files that I'd like to understand better. Some machines are generating this: [2009/11/16 15:10:49, 0] smbd/nttrans.c:call_nt_transact_ioctl(2019) call_nt_transact_ioctl(0x9005c): Currently not implemented.

Access97, in house VB6 app, terrible performance
hello everyone I am running suse9.0 with samba 2.2.8 kernel 2.4.23, the app is in vb6 using the vb jetengine to access access97 databases, roughly 15 of them all between 200 - 900 megs in size, all on the same shared drive. This arrangement works well on our NT4 server. but when we try to use linux/samba we find read/writing is incrediably slow. as an example our standard test on NT4 takes 4

Samba 1.9.18p7 Password Lock Problem on AIX 4.1.4.0
I've been running SAMBA 1.9.14 and 1.9.17p4 for successfully for some time. Recently I thought it would be useful to update to the latest SAMBA version 1.9.18p7. This is the first time we are using Samba with the built-in DES. Here is our configuration: Machines: IBM RS/6000 AIX 4.1.4.0 or AIX 4.2.1.0 Compiler: xlC 3.1.4.0 My smb.conf file: [global] printing = aix print command
