Please help! Urgent, STRANGE Win95 browsing problem!
Hi,
I sent an e-mail earlier about our strange Windows 95 browsing problem.
Then, I upgraded to samba-2.0.2 from 1.9.17p4, but the problem is still
there. I do need urgent help because almost all of our network
connection does not work and our users do it for their research. Please
help! Please, please! Let me repeat this strange problem:

Hi,
Thanks for your help. I set my samba debug level = 3. How to run it with verbose
logs? I can't find it under samba-1.9.17p4/docs. Where can I find troubleshooting
docs? Could you tell me the web site address? I can't find it under
http://us1.samba.org/samba/.
I tried running net view \\morpheus (that is our linux) and got the following:

An even more strange win95 browsing problem
Hi,
I posted a few messages a couple of days ago about a strange windows 95
browsing problem with samba-2.0.2, 1.9.17p4 that none of our Windows 95
users can see our Linux shares, but all NT users can see the Linux
shares, and all 95 and NT users can see AIX shares. All of our Linux
and AIX use the save version of samba (I tested 2.0.2 and 1.9.17p4).
Yesterday, I tried to down grade the version

Strange problem with samba
Hi,
I was using samba 2.0.7 veersion for a while without any problem. This
morning, suddenly, many windows (nt/98) cannot connect the samba server
on our Linux (RedHat 6.2) server. Then, I downloaded the version 2.2.4,
extracted, configure it, make, make install according to the document.
Then I test it by running
./testparm
it lists all of shared folders. Then, I run
./smbclient -L

2.0.5a on AIX 4.3.2, smbclient failures.
Dear All,
We have successfully run 1.9.18p2 on our AIX 3.2.5 servers since 1.9.18p2
was released, with heavy access for printing and file sharing from users and
NT servers.
We are currently in the process of upgrading to AIX 4.3.2 (now completed)
and have been trying to implement 2.0.5a. I have used the AIX binary install
which all worked. We are using WINS/DNS/DHCP running on the NT servers

Samba 3.0.25c and Samba 3.0.26a on AIX 5.3 - Windows Service Accounts & smbclient issues...
Just the beginning of a question to anyone who might have experienced
the following issue with Samba 3.0.2[5-6] series.
We currently have service accounts accessing Samba shares on AIX 5.3
servers ( from TL04 - TL06 ). Most of the processes access the shares
via UNC rather than mapped drives. After completing the upgrade to
Samba 3.0.26a on the production side, the service accounts started

MAR 14 CVS, smbclient mput problem on AIX 4.2
Hi,
There is a problem with smbclient mput ( maybe more, I haven't checked ) with
the SAMBA CVS I checked out on March 14, 2000.
The problem will manifest itself on systems that don't support -maxdepth
on the find command. (AIX being one of them ).
I compared source/client.c between 2.0.6 and the cvs.
The problem is in:
static void cmd_mput(void)

Directory rename problem with smbclient
I am trying to use smbclient to migrate data from OS/2 LanServers to a
filesystem on an AIX 4.3.1 machine. Everything works great except renaming
directories on the OS/2 LanServer. I get the error ERRDOS - ERRbadfile
(File not found.) renaming files when I do a "rename <existing_dir_name>
<new_dir_name>" at the prompt, but <existing_dir_name> exists. I connected

smbclient error
Hi,
I've installed Samba on AIX 4.3 machine named ibmf40, and the domain name is
vercom.
This is how the smb.conf file looks:
[global]
netbios name = ibmf40
workgroup = vercom
server string = Samba Server
security = user
However I get an error when trying to run smbclient as follows:
ibmf40 /usr/local/samba/bin # ./smbclient -L ibmf40 -N

Share names causing big troubles
I work for a school dist, and I am having a bit of trouble with the "Student
Server" We have about 3000 students all with their own accounts. I had the
samba server setup to share their home directories but their home
directories are the same as their login name. So jamie.mcparland would be an
example of a share name. But in Win 9X it gets truncated to jamie.mcparla
then we get the error

Printing on a Window Client from AIX
Hi all...
First, thank you to Matt Chapman for pointing out why I could not connect to a
non-domain participating machine. I needed to have a local account on that
machine (it wasn't checking back with the domain controllers as I thought it
would). I guess I'm going to have to start venturing out of the UNIX world and
into the NT one. Scary :-)
Either way, I now successfully am

Smbclient command line password parsing
Hi there,
I've got a question about the way that smbclient parses the password
from the command line in the -U argument (i.e. -U'username%password').
This came up recently when I was trying to figure out why the cupsaddsmb
command was failing for me.
It appears that smbclient can't take passwords out of the command line
with leading 'special' characters such as = or

Samba 1.9.18p7 Password Lock Problem on AIX 4.1.4.0
I've been running SAMBA 1.9.14 and 1.9.17p4 for successfully for some
time. Recently I thought it would be useful to update to the latest
SAMBA version 1.9.18p7. This is the first time we are using Samba with
the built-in DES.
Here is our configuration:
Machines: IBM RS/6000 AIX 4.1.4.0 or AIX 4.2.1.0
Compiler: xlC 3.1.4.0

Can't connect to server not participating in domain
Hi All...
I have spent a good amount of time searching through the list's archives,
but have not had any luck with this issue.
It appears that I have no problem connecting to a WinNT server with
smbclient if the server is participating in the domain. However, if I'm a
server (or NT workstation) that isn't participating in the domain, I never
authenticate.
In my case, I have a
