the field ttl in struct referral doesn't work
In samba source code, the file "source\include\msdfs.h" defines a struct named referral. In this struct, there is a field named ttl which is used to decide how long should client cache referral, and this field uses constant REFERRAL_TTL(#define REFERRAL_TTL 600) as default. My problem is when i set REFERRAL_TTL to be 10, it doesn't work.

Tripp-Lite SMART1500LCDT
I bought this UPS to use with NUT. I've used Belkin, APC, CyberPower, Best, Powerware upses with NUT on dozens of servers beginning with RHEL3. http://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-Display-Protection-SMART1500LCDT/dp/B009TZTGWK Since this was advertised as USB HID, I didn't expect any problems. Bad idea (should have gotten the Cyberware with somewhat less runtime). Initially, it seems to

Tripp-Lite SMART1500LCDT
I've made some progress getting this Tripplite to work: http://gathman.org/2016/07/30/Standard_Schmandard/ Basically, plug it into a USB hub that actually implements USB2.0, then power cycle the port when it hangs. It does seem to be a hardware problem with the USB controller. On 05/24/2016 09:06 AM, Charles Lepple wrote: > On May 22, 2016, at 10:18 AM, Stuart Gathman wrote: >> I

Version 3.2.0pre3-9.fc9 smbclient problem
I recently installed Fedora 9 for use as a squid server. We use smb_auth basic authorization and have run into a problem with it. I believe that I have tracked the problem down to smbclient when the USER environmental variable contains the userid and password. smb_auth.sh in squid uses the USER environmental variable. Below are test results for Version 3.0.28a-0.fc8 and Version

smblib/auth
I need to do an smb auth in an application I'm writing. I've looked at the source in smblib/*.c but I'm unsure which library and which function call I should link against. I'm looking for something like this $result = smb_auth($user,$pass,$pdc); so that I can check if a user/pass combination is a valid username/password on the windows network. What library, and what function

logon problems
I am really not sure if this is a samba problem or what, but is starting to annoy me. Here is what is happening. Server 1: Squid, squidguard, dansguardian, iptables (This is firewall/filter) Server2: Samba (used for file storage and squid authentification) Clients are Windows 98. A few XP's. Everything has run fine for almost 2 years. The other day when trying to log on to the internet,

RES: squid authentication to samba 3
Yes, it is. I've made that some times... After having the Samba infra-structure running (winbind -u, winbind -g, winbind -a), you need to create some ACLs in squid.conf, take a look at: http://www.squid-cache.org/Doc/FAQ/FAQ-23.html#winbind To check group membership you can use wbinfo_group or LDAP, I had some problems setting wbinfo_group with Samba 3.0.2, that's why I use LDAP. RES: Winbind broken after 2.2.8 upgrade
hello, thank you very much for the answer. I should say that my version is to 2.3a that it comes with the distribution CONECTIVA. Before posting the messages I make several tests and I place the maximum of information that I possess. If my messages not answered they leave the frustrated people it is because many of them pass for the same as me. So that you answered me I had to take advantage

Solved: NT 4.0 not connecting to SAMBA servers
We fixed our own problem. Turns out that server taber is at service pack 1 and hyde is at service pack 3. In service pack 3 the smb redirector doesn't send unencrypted passwords without a registry entry to enable them. See article Q166730 at www.microsoft.com for details. This brings up another question. Is anyone out there using Samba with the encrypted passwords from NT 4? Ed Maple UNIX

[SOLVED] Win NT 4.0 SP4 access to Samba 1.9.16p9
Hello folks - back on April 2nd I asked why my NT 4.0 with SP4 computer wouldn't connect to my old copy of Samba (1.9.16p9), while my neighbour's NT 4.0 with SP3 computer did just fine. This was in the case of a read-write share that only myself and my neighbour had access to under our user names. A read-only share worked just fine on both our computers. Thanks to Herb Lewis & Jan
