solaris 2.6 printing
I have ran across a problem
that I cant resolve and no one else seems to either. I recently built
solaris 2.6 on
an ULTRA 1 Sun Box. I retrieved compiled and installed samba 2.0 from
their web site
I compiled with gcc and everything works well except for the printing.
Samba does deliver a file in my /var/spool/smbprint dir but nothing happens
from there no matter what lp or other commands I

problems with smbpasswd in samba-2.0.2+ (repost)
I sent the following message to the list nearly two weeks ago
and didn't receive a single response. In fact, I haven't received
any replies to the last 3-4 questions I have asked (over the
past 6 months). Maybe it is my wording??? I see the messages
in the digest, so I know they are going to the list. :-)
I have no right to complain and only cause to be very happy

smbprint strange problems
Hello people,

machines and a couple of Macs. The linux machine also has one printer on its
local port lpt1. Ok...I have set up everything and currently I can print

smbprint & .config
I seem to have some issues coming to terms with the new smbprint configuration. Not that it is all that new, but I have worked on a ton of AIX Samba systems that are runing 1.9.x and the smbprint worked great in all aspects. The box's couldn't be upgraded (or so said the company that did application builds related to Samba). The printers were and are hosted from windows95 workstations

BUG + FIX in smbprint
Dear Samba Team,
the smbprint script as provided with Suse7.2 for Samba Version 2.2.0
did not work. The problem was that the file to be printed was not
transfered via stdin after the print - command.
I changed the smbprint script to pass the commands via the -c option.
My changes and comments are marked with MR27092001MR in the smbprint
attached.
I did not find this in the lists, so I hope this

Custom smbprint script for testing
Hello there,
I've produced a modified version of the smbprint script that comes
with the samba source.
The script is aimed to retry sending the print job if the windows
machine is switched off at the time of printing (samba seems to just
drop the print job after a period of time if the machine is off). This
script will mail you to tell you the machine isn't turned on yet and if

Printing to NT: problem with smbprint
Hi,
Maybe someone can help me. I am running FreeBSD 3.2 with
Samba 2.0.4b and NT Server 4.0 with SP3 and I added the BSD
machine to its server list. My printer is setup on my NT for print
sharing. Well if I connect to the share name of the printer via
smbclient ( ./smbclient \\\\ESAU\\EPSON -U login%password) I
am able to successfully access it and even print. However, when I
use the

Help with smbprint.sysv
Hi,
Does anyone happen to know a good document
about SMBPRINT.SYSV ?
I am trying to make my SGi IRIX 6.2 print
to a PC Printer via SMB, unsucessfully.
I followed the smbprint and lp (sysv) docs
in Samba 2.0.7 but, I guess, something
is missing, I can not print to that
remote printer.
I think I do not need a printcap file since
it is using lp. But nothing happens and
I get e-mail from spooler:

smbprint
While trying to configure my *nix box to print to windows, I discovered
my samba build does not have the smbprint utility. I saw no option in
the configure/make script to build with the smprint utility.
Is there an option that will build this tool?
Thanks!

Pbs with smbprint, password and windows shared printer..
Hi all!
At my university, we use for compatibility reasons a windows shared printer
running samba server.
The main thing is that I can't get smbprint to send pages to the printer.
And, more amazing, I get this message:
"Unable to connect to SAMBA host, will retry in 60 seconds...ERROR: Connection
failed with error NT_STATUS_WRONG_PASSWORD"
only when I give the GOOD password! :-/

About Samba passwords

I am getting the following message when trying to change domain passwords from
a windows workstation (primary domain controller: samba 2.0.0 on Linux RedHat

NT Logon Authentication
I'm trying to set up SAMBA to handle NT logons, and have it to the
point where my Sun sees the logon request come in, and I get the
following in the log file:
process_logon_packet: Logon from : code = 7
Does anyone know either what this code (and others) relates to, or
where to find the code meanings?
Anyone else gotten this to work and have some tips/tricks/gotchas?

(Long) Newbie Question on Authentification w/ 2.0.3 & PDC
Thanks for Reading!
Installed 2.0.3 with remote browsing and as a domain member per the
docs. All is going just fine, but I have noticed something interesting
about authenticating against the PDC. I have created accounts on the
UNIX side ( Slack 3.5 , kernel 2.0.36 ) with temp passwords. The account
names on the Linux side match the usernames on the NT side, but the
passwords are different. I

Print Jobs in /tmp
I have a quick printing question:
When users print through Samba, a copy of the print job is ALWAYS left in /tmp
and not erased. When I print through lpr, this is not the case. I am using
LPRng 3.5.3, Samba 2.0.3, Kernel 2.2.4, and RHL 5.2 with all the update RPMs.
Here are the relevant sections of my smb.conf file:
[global]
printing = lprng
print command = /usr/local/bin/lpr -P%p %s -r

Swat password syncronization - HELP
Hi All
I've installed Samba 2.0.3 and coudn't put "unix passowrd sync" to
