re: website samba.org is missing most of the documentation?
Although I've installed samba-common, -server, -doc version 2.2.7a (from
the Mandrake 9 distribution), thr -doc RPM is broken since it actually
didn't install any of the files it claimed it would.
No problem, I thought, I'll just read it online.
Except for some reason, in his/her infinite wisdom, your webmaster has
apparently decided not to put most of your documentation on your

Error connecting Win95 box to Linux.
Could anyone tell me what I may be doing wrong here? I'm using
samba-1.9.18p8 on a Linux 2.0.32 box, RedHat 5.0 install.
I can descend into this share from a WinNT box just fine, but get the
following error messages from a Win95 box.
Thank you all in advance,

samba crashes NT-workstation??
Hi
quite strange assumtion, but I have the feeling, that samba makes my NT-CLient crash (blue screen). I haven't found anything in the archives about such troubles.
It dosn't matter whether sp3 is installed on the NT machine, nor does a specific samba version makes this behavior vanish, it's just that my samba server wasn't available for a 3 months period in which the NT

Hi-
I'm having problems getting Samba to authenticate to an NT server, which
is a PDC. Here's what I get if I try to list the shares on the server:

NT network neighbourhood
Hi,
I am a system administrator but new to Samba. We bought new PCs with NT
service pack 4 and I am trying to configure Samba(2.0.x) so that users can
access their UNIX(Solaris/IRIX) files from NT. I have two kinds of
problems.
Things seems to be perfect when I try this with Win98 but with NT, I can't
see the UNIX server from Network Neighbourhood. But "net view" shows all

NT Logon Authentication
I'm trying to set up SAMBA to handle NT logons, and have it to the
point where my Sun sees the logon request come in, and I get the
following in the log file:
process_logon_packet: Logon from : code = 7
Does anyone know either what this code (and others) relates to, or
where to find the code meanings?
Anyone else gotten this to work and have some tips/tricks/gotchas?
I'm trying to

I'm receiving the errors listed below. It also seems unable to map the root

Wbinfo -u and -g return output but getent passwd does not. This is Ubuntu 7

create matrix
Hi all,
I have a dataset consisting of 5 columns and over 5000 rows. Each row
gives information about an individual animal, including longevity, i.e.
at what age an animal died.
For the model I use I need to create n rows for each animal, n being its
longevity, and a new column 'survival' with a binary 0/1 outcome. When
an animal died e.g. at age 5, there have to be 5 rows of identical
