Samba and NT4-sp5 problems ??
We were using Samba 2.0.2 and Windows NT4-sp3 quite happily.. however someone wants to use sp5 (get me a large caliber rifle, PLEASE!!), and during some testing we noticed what 'looks like' file corruption problems. Files do not seem to get written to the samba shares properly/completely... I say looks like, because copying the files manually seems to be fine, but when done within an app,

permissions for printing
I have just installed Samba for the following configuration: AIX 4.2, with NT clients We are trying to print from clients to unix printers through a Progress (database) program. On unix, I would identify my destination as "lp -s -dprinter1". Now, I indicate "//rs6000/printer1". People in our systems department (and therefore, people with "root" privileges) can

RE SMS and SQL
Hi TOm, I know it this doesn't really help your SMS problem, but it does help SQL. Oracle just accounced support for Linux and they said they are going to release a free version of ORACLE for Linux. Problem decoding .flac files
I've been having problems with Amarok and K3B, but I think it comes down to a problem with flac. All my music and audio files are encoded in flac format. I've ripped my CDs using KAudioCreator and using this command to encode them (split for formatting): flac --best -o %o --tag=Artist=%{artist} --tag=Album=%{albumtitle} --tag=Date=%{year} --tag=Title=%{title}

Fixing a Corrupted Vorbis file
Hello, Since last week I started having random ogg files from my library turning corrupt, and practically being unplayable by anything. All this while I was browsing and sorting my library through Amarok. Luckily today I've found the possible culprit, Amarok itself, and others who may have the issue as well: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=369672 But regardless of how the issue started,

Playing Games with Wine while listening to music
I have this problem: When playing a PC game via wine while listening to music with let's say Amarok, there's no sound in the PC game anymore. It's like the sound channel is occupied by the music player so wine cannot playback any soundfiles. Sounds are working if I play a Linux game like Nexuiz while running some music via a music player (ok, completely different, I know, but

Full_Name: emiel ver loren Version: 2.2.0 OS: Windows XP Submission from: (NULL) (145.117.31.248) Dear R-community and developers, I have been trying to read in a tab delimeted file where the column names and the row names are of the form "GO:0000051" (gene ontology IDs). Probit Analysis: Confidence Interval for the LD50 using Fieller's and Heterogeneity (UNCLASSIFIED)
Classification: UNCLASSIFIED Caveats: NONE A similar question has been posted in the past but never answered. My question is this: for probit analysis, how do you program a 95% confidence interval for the LD50 (or LC50, ec50, etc.), including a heterogeneity factor as written about in "Probit Analysis" by Finney(1971)? The heterogeneity factor comes into play through the chi-squared

Unhandled page fault
Hi all, Since last week I've been unable to run any applications with Wine; it'll always lock the mouse and keyboard, even though other applications don't freeze (at least Amarok can finish playing the current track, but stops when it is finished). When this happens, I'm forced to kill Wine remotely, and then I always get something like this > wine: Unhandled page fault on

nnet 10-fold cross-validation
Hi It clear that to do a classification with svm under 10-fold cross validation one uses svm(Xm, newlabs, type = "C-classification", kernel = "linear",cross = 10) What corresponds to the nnet? nnet(.....,cross=10)? Regards

wav to flac corruption
I have exactly the same problem. I encoded a BWF file to flac and then then decoded back to wav, using --keep-foreign-metadata, and I ended up with a bit-perfect copy of the original BWF. So I was fairly confident that the flac encoding is working correctly, the problem definitely appears to be with the flac players. Unfortunately it seems that the majority of flac players cannot play 24bit

metaflac --remove-all-tags
there something fishy going on, have about 21 flac files, in a folder, and 9 of them still showing meta tag data in juk. When running metaflac --list, show nothing on all 21 files, however in amarok and juk I can still see some info on 9 flac files. Howdoes one fix these flac files? are they corrupted? flac -t came back ok on all Anyone ? Richard

including images
hi, Can anybody tell me what the maximum filesize is for an image file to be included in a FLAC file? I'm just exploring this feature and I didn't find this yet PS: Does anybody know why there are so little programs that actually support the viewing of embedded pictures? I only found 2 of them: Amarok in linux and foobar in windows. thx in advance! -------------- next part

ices-kh60: latency bug
hello, I've just got ices-kh60 running with jack. It's working OK apart from a problem where the latency on the stream creeps up from about 15-20 secs to around 7 minutes. The stream plays OK, but the audio coming out is 7 minutes behind what goes in. I'm not sure how this can be happening, seeing as I don't think there are any buffers that long in the system, but it is.

Chemoinformatic people
Dear colleague, Just an e-mail to know if they are people working in the field of chemoinformatic that are using R in their work. If yes I was wondering if we couldn't exchange tips and tricks about the use of R in this area ? Best regards Fred Ooms [[alternative HTML version deleted]]
