Newbie (groan... !) Client Problem
I've studied the books, searched the list archives, etc. I suspect there is
someone who can just tell me one thing to tweek, so I humbly beg your
advice.
Situation:
I am playing with/learning Linux, intending to replace our two company
Netware servers sometime in the next 6 months. At home, I have an NT4.0/SPC
PDC, an NT4.0/SP6 docked laptop, and an HP server with RH7.1 or 7.2 (2.4.??

understanding that the NWLINK requirement seems to be some soft of
driver (nwlink.vxd). Perhaps it seems from Novell, their Netware or
Netmonitor client(I'm guessing?). The software I'm using is extremely
straight forward and was written in Visual Basic, it uses an access
database backend and thats about it. It needs absolutely nothing
special and for sure no network access. Is there some

Formatting Sweave in R-News
Hi,
I am editing a document for submission to the R-news newsletter, and
in my article my Sweave code inserts a dynamically generated PDF
report that my R program generates.
However, when I insert the PDF using the following Sweave code:

(in tex this looks like):

Passing R CMD Check without data
I have a package which passes R CMD check with the --no-vignettes option.
However, it does not pass the check without that, as the vignette relies on
some data files that I cannot distribute. However, I would like the package
to pass the check so that I can put it on CRAN, so that other people with
access to the dataset can put the data into the package, and then rebuild
the vignettes themselves.

NT4 performance in Netware primary login.
Samba Gurus.
We run W95 and NT4 clients in a mixed environment
of Netware and Samba on SGs. Netware is the primary
network login(over IPX/SPX). Am using clear text passwords for the
Samba network. NT 4 is patched up to SR 3.
Samba version 1.9.18p7.
Problem.
Samba performance from NT 4 machines is VERY slow.
Many orders of magnitude slower than W95 which is
very good.
This performance

Action Mailer >> Hiding Receipients in the email templates
Hi,
Anyone have any idea about hiding the receipients address in the email
template in "TO" field.
As am Example:
While sending an email to multiple users, the receipients email
addresses should not come in the "TO" field in the email template.
Thanks in Advance.

[LLVMdev] Extending llvm with data types which can be accessible only through interfaces.
Hi LLVM-Dev Team,
I am a graduate student working on compilation for heterogeneous multi-cores.
As a part of my project, I need to extend llvm by adding a new data
type for a commonly used data structure like queue.
Could you please mention if there been any prior work on extending the
llvm frontend to accommodate these kind of new data types and parse it
to get LLVM-IR.
Can you also advice on

DOS MS client + slow response
Hello,
I recently plan to switch my 200 PC (W95 or DOS)+ 10 SUN workstations network to use Linux + Samba.
It was previsouly using Netware 4.1 (not too bad) and Netware NFS (a nightmare !)
My current configuration is made of 4 identical machines
- bi-PII 300MHz + 128 Mo
- 2*9 Go UW SCSI with soft raid level 1
- Linux 2.0.33
- Samba 1.9.18p7

Narayan,
OpenCL has similar data type called Images. They can only be accessed through function calls and not directly.

broadcast packets from domU duplicated?
I''m running a nevada b99 guest on a nevada b99 host. The guest is
configured as a dhcp client.
When I snoop in dom0 while the guest boots, I see two back-to-back
DHCPREQUEST packets issued by the guest. The first of the two packets
has an empty UDP checksum; otherwise they seem identical.
Is this a bug?

Comments request to refute arguments about Samba...
I can't answer any of this, but the following was taken from a thread on
the "Novell Technology Transfer Partners List

Any comments/refutations/etc most definitely accepted...

following a packet from sendto() to wire (and reverse)
I am quite unfamiliar with DTrace (and even more with
Solaris/Linux/other) kernel internals.
I recently had to help look into an issue where an application
apparently sent a UDP packet, but it did not appear on the wire, nor
did snoop(1)ing the interface show it, so the assumption is that it
was lost (or misdirected) somewhere in the IP stack.
We did use Dtrace with syscall::sendto:entry/exit to

Bunch of set-up/usage questions (SLA, MWI, SMS proxy's, crypto, Fax, etc)
Howdy,
Excuse the neophyte questions... I was wondering:
(1) what's involved in setting up a call with encrypted media (I'm on a
cable network and don't want my calls snooped);
(2) is there a cheat-sheet for configuring Sipura handsets/hardphones
like the SPA-942, and in particular for message-waiting indicator and
shared-line appearances?

Directory Permissions.
Hi all,
I've got a RH7.2 system running Samba 2.2.1-4 RPM's and I've got a
permissions problem.
I've got a share //dcomp2/windows which points to my vfat partition mounted
on /drvc/ with UID/GID options in fstab set to my unix user.
I can then connect to that share okay, and I can create/amend/delete files
without a problem. The problem arrises when I descend down the tree,

Novell NetWare 3.2 + Paradox => slow Samba
Hi Jim,
Does the Novell NetWare 3.2 server that you are trying to replace with Samba
have any NLM's loaded to implement B-Tree lookups?
If so, B-Tree processing is done on the Novell server without
generating a lot of network I/O.
In order to get the same kind of client - server performance,
you would have to run some Paradox compatible server software on the Samba
box.
Thanks,
Gary
