Hello !
I am trying to make "Realpopup" (a winpopup like under windows) able to
send messages to a Linux machine.
The problem is that "Realpopup" sends messages using the MailSlots
protocol only.
I have heard about an option on the samba-side to enable MailSlots
compatibility. However, I have searched in all SAMBA documentation and
haven't found anything about it.

Hi,
I am new to Linux, I am using RedHat version 6.0 and Samba 2.0.5a. I try to
set up a Samba Server for a LAN.
So far everything (i.e. installation) worked fine, I installed samba from
.rpm and nmbd, smbd is started at boot successfully. I can see the Samba
server in the Windows95 network environment, but when I doubleclick on it
or when I try to smbmount a service from another Linux machine I

Hi.
I don't know much about samba, so I thought someone could help me on
this one:
I'm using a Sun with Samba server to store all the applications used on
the network. The problem is that icons for those applications will not
show up in Windows95.
If I make a shortcut form a .exe file on the samba-server, the shortcut
will show on the desktop with windows standard icon, and not the

Troubles with "security=server" setting
Help!
We are running a fairly simple samba setup where we have a single Unix
server functioning as both a file/print server for a number of Windows95
and Windows NT workstations. In our old environment we where using
"security = user" and allowing the Unix server to handle password
authentication, etc. But, given our site's requirement to run login
scripts and the support in samba

When viewed on NT4.0 file sizes of samba share are incorrecly too large
Hi everyone,
Here is my problem:
All NT4.0 machines accessing a samba share located on a Solaris 2.6 server
(running smbd version
2.0.4b) see the file sizes to be MUCH (terabytes) larger than they actually
are. This is true
both when looking through Explorer (file manager) and through MS-DOS prompt.
On Windows98 machines the files are irrationally large via Explorer, but are
the correct size

copying files samba - win95: drops dead in the middle
When copying files from the Samba server to a Windows95 client or vv,
the speed varies dramatically. When I try to copy the same (20MB) file 10
times
some times it copies in less than 10 seconds. The next time it takes allmost
a
minute. And most worrying of all quite often the copying just stops halfway
in
the middle. The progress bar in Windows just stops. The traffic on the NIC

Size of type double in object type dist (PR#1255)
The following problem occurs in R 1.4.0 and 1.3.1 for Windows95,
but not in R 1.2.0 for Windows95.
The problem does not occur in R 1.4.0 for Linux PC, Linux Alpha
and HP-UX.
Sometimes, the type of 'Size' of an object of type 'dist'
changes from integer into double. Running cmdscale on such a
'dist' object gives invalid results.
I don't know what should be considered
