Fatal Error: Invalid HOMEDRIVE
All,
I've encountered the same problem as others who have posted under the same
subject.
I've had R-1.8.1 installed and running since it was released. Yesterday
morning when I tried to start Rgui.exe I got the subject error message.
Since I live at the whim of the network administrators I can only assume it
was a recent MS critical update.
I tried installing R-1.9.0 but no joy.

Rgui, Startup, HOME, R_USER, ...
Hi,
Main objective: Let Rgui find my ~/.Rprofile and ~/.Renviron files,
where ~ is equal to getwd("~").
I have few comments/questions:
(A) On my WinXP Pro installation, the system environment variable
'HOME' is not availble to R, e.g. Sys.getenv("HOME") is empty. I
believe this is default case (correct me if I'm wrong). However, if I

problems with starting R
When I try to start R from my desktop, an "information"-window pops up:
"Fatal error: Invalid HOMEDRIVE".
I already deleted and reinstalled the program, but the problem lasts.
How can I solve this problem?
I would be very glad, if you can give me a hint, what??s going wrong.
Best regards

Re: Understanding Samba Shares
Steve,
Here's how I got it all working:
Create the directory you want to share (you've already done this bit),
change the group ownership to be www-data and then chmod the folder
2775. You should end up with a folder whose group ownership is www-data
and whose permissions are rwxrwsr-x, ie the setgid bit is set to cause
files to be owned by the group www-data.
Here's my share

ask for help
Dear colleagues,
I am a beginner of using R. I am involved in some microarray data
analyses and found that R is the most common software in this area. I
tried to install the free software today. It seemed to be successful in
installing, but when I trigger the short-cut, I got a error massage
saying 'Fetal error: invalid HOMEDRIVE'. I have no idea where the
homedrive was defined (or

Homedrive mapping
Hello everyone,
We are making extensive use of the homedrive mapping fields in AD.
(automagically mapping a drive letter to a UNC path without a logon script)
Since we sp2 applied to our clients, none of them have been able to map
their home drives to our samba servers.
According to Microsoft's q-article,

setwd in windows
Dear friends - windows R 3.3.3 - sorry to ask a simple question - but I
cannot make setwd work properly in scripts
In the example below I have made a directory in C (firstdir) and a
directory in that (secdir) and the intention is to change directory to
the second from the first - it works when I put the entire path but not
the tilde - what am I missing? I was around rwf 2.14 as per the help

Samba roaming profile with folder redirection
Hi,
I have a domain controller which was configured to use the local profiles. We
have a relatively small group whose work required it. Now we are moving toward
using the domain for all machine with roaming profile. There are a lot of
posts dealing with the roaming profiles and the folder redirection. But I've
met some issues.
My configuration:
NS3 and SMB are hostnames of our servers.

Re: Win9x login script drive mapping problem - more info
Many thanks to those who have replied so far - still no luck
unfortunately.
It would appear that I was ni=ot quite specific enough in the original
post re: the OS version I am using - it is Windows 98SE, NOT vanilla 98.
As for the login script I am using, I tried originally with the NT/2K
script I use for all the other machines (logical as they are all NT/2K!):

Win9x login script drive mapping problem - addendum
As an addendum to my original message (copied below), I have tried a couple of
things and have found the following:
Running a one line login script, eg
net use * \\server\share
with an echo command produces the following output:
The syntax is incorrect.
For help, type NET USE /? at the command prompt.
Yet running the same script one the machine as soon after login as possible

invalid HOMEDRIVE
Hi all-
Some recent change...perhaps a windows update, or perhaps a change in
the network on which I use my computer....has made it impossible for me
to start R. When I try to start the program, I get a message that says
"Fatal error: invalid HOMEDRIVE". Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks much
Chris

Missing .so libraries for DLL files
Hi.
I'm trying to get this PS2 ISO generator to work.
It requires the DLL:s mfc42.dll and mfc42loc.dll---hence I got them and
placed them in ~/.wine/hdd/windows/system.
Now it's complaining about missing .so libraries for the builtin DLL:s.
I have this in the config:
"mfc42" = "builtin, native"
"mfc42loc" = "builtin, native"

Hello list, I sent this about two weeks ago, but I didn't get an
answer... so I'm pushing my luck. :-)
QUESTION#1: What EXACLTLY causes the HOMEDRIVE, HOMEPATH, and
HOMESHARE variables? Something passed from Samab to the client, or
some thing the client does?
QUESTION#2: How/what/where/why is there a difference in the results

Hi there!
This is my second message in two weeks. I am regretting to get ride of my
R-1.4.1! In fact, since I upgraded to R-1.8.1 (directly from R-1.4.1) and
then to R-1.9.0 I am experiencing diffulties I never faced before. Professor
Ripley and Dr. Murdoch had helped with the "Fatal Error. HOMEDRIVE." Another
problem I am now facing is that R is not reading any matrix if I do not

BackgrounDRb, Schedule and Clean Up
Hey all,
I''ve come accross BackgrounDRb and I have to say it''s a wounderful piece of software. It has the potential to solve so many of the problems that I am facing with a current RoR project.
Like many others I was having issues with the scheduling side of things, I noticed that hemant said there was a new version coming out. So I checked out the version from trunk, and have
