Delay when using ipc share
Hello,
I have a simple network where usernames are not needed and every PC/user
is allowed to connect to the samba server. With security=share, guest
ok=yes, guest only=yes, this works great. But when using the IPC share
for e.g. setting the time, there is 2 second delay before there is a
response, which I would like to avoid.
It seems the problem is that the IPC share is never guest only, so

Does Samba attempt Anonymous logon to IPC$ shares? Can this lockout accounts?!?
Hopefully someone can put my mind at ease...
I have about 10 W2K boxes with account lockout threshold of 5 failed logins
and Additional Restrictions for Anonymous Connections set to 'No access w/o
explicit anon. permissions' (Administrative Tools -> Security Settings ->
Local Policies -> Security Options)
I've set up a Samba server this week and in the past few days

Share 'IPC$' has wide links and unix extensions enabled
We are running Samba 4.4.6 as a file server.
In the logs for a few client machines I see entries such as:
[2016/09/29 22:36:58.862575, 0]
../source3/param/loadparm.c:4402(widelinks_warning)
Share 'IPC$' has wide links and unix extensions enabled. These
parameters are incompatible. Wide links will be disabled for this share.
I assume that Share 'IPC$' is some sort of

You must supply a password to make this connection - IPC$
Hi Folks,
Just installed Samba 2.2.10 on my FreeBSD 4.9 computer.
I can see the FreeBSD box on all of my Win 9x boxes,
but when I double click on its icon, I get a rude box
message that says something like:
====================================================
You must supply a password to make this connection
Resource: \\SAMMY\IPC$

" Failed to connect to IPC$ share on localhost" when running the "net rpc group add" command.
Probably an easy one for most of you:
I'm trying to create nested groups on my Samba server. When running "net rpc
group add" I am prompted for my root password and receive the error: "Failed
to connect to IPC$ share on localhost". When I use my other login I receive:
# net rpc group add Admins -L -U bill
Enter bill's password:

How do I change kern.ipc.shmmax in FreeBSD 5.x automatically after reboot?
Hello,
I have the following entries in /boot/loader.conf:
kern.ipc.shm_use_phys="1"
kern.ipc.semmns="500"
kern.ipc.semmni="40"
kern.ipc.semmap="500"
which are set correctly. Unfortunately, the following
two entries
kern.ipc.shmmax="512000000"
kern.ipc.shmall="65526"
do not change the corresponding values according

Guest can't access IPC$ - Samba 1.9.18p7, Linux 2.0.32
I'm not sure what broke my samba server, but I *used* to be able to
distribute patches for software to my guests from my Samba server. Some
time in between, I've upgraded Linux from 2.0.30 to 2.0.32, and I've
upgraded the Samba RPM from whatever to 1.9.18p7.
Now, I can't even browse the share list without logging on. Any idea what
gives? Does anyone have this configuration working

what is IPC$
HI
I have been working with NT, Samba and win 9x for a couple of years. Any
time an NT server is set to Domain security, or a Samba server is set to
anything but share level security I have problems. My problem is this. I
want to allow a diverse groupe of machines to connect to the samba server
using user level access, but it always askes me for a password to connect
to \\SERVER\IPC$, but no

Guest Share Access Fails for Win XP Client
Hi,
I'm trying to set up a transfer area between my RH9 box and my WXP box.
Preferably no password would be required on the WXP box, but I'll take
anything after the ridiculous amount of time I've spent on this. If
anyone can help I'd really appreciate it. At this point I'd be willing
to offer my first born child as a reward. And I'll throw in my mother in
law free. :)

IPC$ and valid users
I have Samba 2.0.5a running with multiple configuration files for
different groups of users (one config file per group). In the common
config file (which does an include to load the group file) I set valid
users to a one specific group.
In the group config files, I then set valid users to include the necessary
group (and also do other stuff like restricting the interface the
connections can come

Lingering IPC$ connections
I'm running the latest samba release (2.2.8a), and everything seems to
be running fine. Except for something that does not look quite right.
Connections to the IPC$ share are being left behind by samba once the
user has logged off. And what's even more troubling is that the pid
associated with the lingering IPC$ connection is picked up by the next
smbd process, and then you have one pid

win32-ipc, with blocks (code review please)
Does this look right? The places to look are wait and wait_for_multiple
(which I modified to take the class as an argument, so that I could yield).
