Synology shares not accessible...
Hi Travis, are you still there? ;-) How are your Synos do? Do have in the mean time installed the actual SMBService? If you have and have with the actual SMBService the same problem as before the Beta version there is a workaround: In "/usr/local/packages/@appstore/SMBService/usr/lib/samba" you have to change the "libidmap-samba4.so" to the one from the beta version,

Synology shares not accessible...
Hi All, the Synology support is claiming this bug is the reason for the access problems via hostname (Kerberos): https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14213 These log entries in log.wb-ADNAME are given as evidence: ../../source3/winbindd/winbindd_msrpc.c:307: [2023/06/14 22:13:42.913399, winbind 3, pid=10150] msrpc_sid_to_name msrpc_sid_to_name: S-1-18-1 f?r Dom?ne ADNAME

Configuration Problems
Hello all I need some help understanding what is failing with my Samba installation. I compiled Samba 2.0.6 on a Sparc Ultra-II Solaris 2.6, using GCC version 2.8.1. I have read in some of the docs that there may be some support for shadow passwords but could not find a definition regarding shadow in any of the compile scripts. The SMB and NMB processes are running as deamons. I am unable

ssh -f & pid
Hi, Ssh -f forks itself in the background. Very usefull if you would like to e.g. tunnel munin over ssh. Now it's tricky to terminate one process if you have multiple running. It seems that ssh currently (looked at 5.1p1) has no write-pid-to-file functionality So I implemented a patch which do so. Tested it a little and it seems to work. Hopefully it is of any use in my form or inspires the

Mongrel_Cluster PID File Creation Error.
Hello, Thank you for your development of Mongrel, great job. :) I am using mongrel_cluster, but I have a problem where my rails application name includes a "." such as mydomain.com, which causes an error when generating the PID file for mongrel. I have attached below a diff of the current working copy in the trunk and the changes I made to overcome this problem. I kept your

Cross-validation error with tune and with rpart
Hello list, I'm trying to generate classifiers for a certain task using several methods, one of them being decision trees. The doubts come when I want to estimate the cross-validation error of the generated tree: tree <- rpart(y~., data=data.frame(xsel, y), cp=0.00001) ptree <- prune(tree, cp=tree$cptable[which.min(tree$cptable[,"xerror"]),"CP"]) ptree$cptable

Now I'm testing it on XP wkst., but the same (created by the same method) script is during logon not executed. What is absolutely mysterious for me ? The script is really read by workstation durin logon - I saw it in network traffic

Mongrel Cluster 1.0.1.1 Prerelease: Healing power of the pack!
Hello all... I know its been a while since the last one, but a new prerelease is available with a gratuitous increase in version numbers! gem install mongrel_cluster --source http://mongrel.rubyforge.org/releases/ This one has some new features in it that need to be tested on all unix platforms. Please run --clean and cluster::status on every *nix you can find. I run linux so the rest are up

3.0.3pre1 byte range lock leak?
I'm having a problem involving Outlook and .pst files and a lock that is getting "stuck" I believe. Once Outlook crashes in the fashion it does, it is unable to reopen the file, claiming it is already in use. Explorer also does not let me access the file. Rebooting the workstation does not fix it. smbstatus does not show the lock, however hwen I show byte range locks, there is one,

"mongrel_rails stop" leaving undeleted .pid files
I''m looking at implementation of Mongrel::Stop.run: def run if @force @wait.to_i.times do |waiting| exit(0) if not File.exist? @pid_file sleep 1 end Mongrel::send_signal("KILL", @pid_file) if File.exist? @pid_file else Mongrel::send_signal("TERM", @pid_file) end end and a question arises:

Determining Parent''s execname
Hi, I''m trying to trace the io of a given file, but I have a feeling that it''s been done via a script, as such I''d like to be able to tell the names of the calling processe tree, similar to what ptree produces. Is there any way to get this information without running ptree using system()? Thanks, Darren.

Difference between share access from Windows and Linux
Hi All, I have a - maybe dumb - question: What is the difference between an access to a Samba share from Linux and from Windows? Is there a difference in protocol or getting share rights or anything else? I think I remember that there is. Maybe someone can push into the direction of a documentation. Base for this question is a ticket I have open with Synology. There is in newer versions of

Synology shares not accessible...
Hi Travis, I know, but this is now the released version (4.15.9-0919 beta > 4.15.9-0631), see the history page for SMB-Service: https://www.synology.com/en-us/releaseNote/SMBService?model=DS918%2B#7_x_series With the beta version it still works. But we can't stay on the beta forever I think. Regards Ingo https://github.com/WAdama Travis Wenks via samba schrieb am 13.04.2023 um 21:29:

Script for removing stale sessions: version for RH6.0? [Offtopic?]
Hello, people at SAMBA list. I'm going thru the same problem that Nicholas Williams has described in samba-list first (see references below), and I'm implementing the solution you've decribed in the list (SO_KEEPALIVE, etc). But I'm stuck with the script issue, as I run RedHat Linux 6.0 which doesn't use ksh but pdksh instead. The ksh script doesn't run in pdksh

Mongrel PID file permissions
Hi ! I''m using Mongrel 1.0.1 with --pid and --user/--group. The PID files are correctly owned by the user/group, but their permissions is 0666. Is that normal ? Shouldn''t it be something like 0664 ? Just curious to know if I''m wrong. Configurator has this (line 77): # Writes the PID file but only if we''re on windows. def write_pid_file if

problem restarting mongrel_cluster outside RAILS_ROOT - patch and other option
Hey folks. Sorry for the SUPER long email but if you''ve been experiencing the same problems with restarting your mongrel cluster with Capistrano, then I have two solutions that have worked for me and I''m pretty sure will for you as well. THE PROBLEM I was having trouble restarting my clusters using Capistrano. I''ve seen this come up before on the mailing list and

root postexec issue on both Samba 3.4.5 and 3.0.28
Hi, there I'm using Samba 3.4.5 and 3.0.28 on RHEL 5.2, and I noticed that on both samba servers 'root postexec' script in [netlogon] is executed automatically when logged in for around 11 minutes. This makes me crazy to track when a use is logged out. The man page smb.conf.5 says: " postexec (S) This option specifies a command to be run whenever the service is
