Updating OpenSSL from 1.x to 3 breaks kinit
Samba is built with the recommended heimdal kerberos.
Samba version: 4.18.8
OpenSSL version: 3.0.11
The AD was created with samba 4.5.x (?) and updated continuously.
I guess I need to update the old rc4 "secrets" somehow....

Dear all,
updating openssl from 1.1.x to 3.x on our gentoo systems (recompiled
everything against the new openssl!)

Hi there,
we are looking for a research assistant for a project on analysing
timeseries in the field of educational research.

PDC with openldap
Hi,
I'm new here and I've got a problem. OK this is evident.
Running OpenSuSE 13.1 as SAMBA4-PDC with openLdap-backend. All from SuSE Repos.
Works fine except joining a Windows-Client to the domain. This means also no shared-profiles.
I'm able to use the shares from the PDC on the windows-clients. User- and group-permissions are working.

Fileaccess-Problem Samba <--> Win2k
Hi all
We installed Samba 2.2.3a to host files for the computers of our

Excel2k Pro - German - SP3
We have the following problem:
If they try to open files using Workplace-Directory-Folders they get following

R 2.5.0 packages for Debian stable/etch
Dear list,
R 2.5.0 packages for Debian stable (i386 and amd64) are now available
from CRAN.
The new recommended codetools and rcompgen packages haven't completely
made it to Debian yet, but can of course be installed in the standard
non-Debian ways.
Please consult the README file in the Debian directory, and report
problems to me directly or to this list.
Best regards,
Johannes Ranke

Change in the Debian backports archive on CRAN
Dear users of the Debian backports on CRAN,
Because of an inconsistency of the README file with the actual situation
on CRAN, which Ted Harding gratefully reported, I changed the archive on
CRAN so the /etc/apt/sources.list entry has to be changed in case you
would like to get updates of R backports to Debian stable in the future:
Instead of

R CMD javareconf in r-base-dev 2.6.0
Hi Dirk, hi list,
I just ran into a slight problem while building the recommended packages
for CRAN in a chroot environment against the fresh backport of your R
2.6.0 packages. It seems that R CMD javareconf wants to change files in
/etc/R during the build, and since I am not building the packages as
root in my etch chroot, this fails, even if I am using fakeroot. My
workaround was to simply

(PR#8877) predict.lm does not have a weights argument for newdata
Dear R developers,
I am a little disappointed that my bug report only made it to the
wishlist, with the argument:
Well, it does not say it has.
Only relevant to prediction intervals.
predict.lm does calculate prediction intervals for linear models from
weighted regression, so they should be correct, right?
As far as I can see they are bound to be wrong in almost all cases, if
no weights

Re: ESS & R data import problems
I have a similar question, I know about --vsize, but I use R under Emacs
using ESS. I know there is an easy way to call R from ESS with command
line options but I don't remember how. I can't find help on this in ESS
documentation or in R documentation.
Could someone please remind me how this is done.

R data import problems
Excuse me, if the following is FAQ or nonsense, I'm new to R (and the
list)!
After trying to import a textfile of 184897 Bytes, R (v0.63.0 on Linux

R 2.8.0 for Debian etch
Dear all,
It is my pleasure to announce the immediate availability of R 2.8.0
for the current Debian stable release on CRAN. Source packages and
binaries for i386 and amd64 are at your disposal.
I also updated the README to include a short howto for using R 2.8.0 from
unstable on testing (lenny), which is currently frozen. This currently pulls
the current pcre from unstable, next to the current

Icon proposal
Hello!
In my eyes, the R logo looks somewhat old-fashioned and I don't like
that 3D-ish style. Therefor, I played a bit around with Inkscape and
made an R logo according to the Tango Icon Theme Guidelines
<http://tango.freedesktop.org/Tango_Icon_Theme_Guidelines>. It is in SVG
format, and therefor scalable, but optimized for 48x48 and larger.
Smaller sizes might need some retouching to

R-SIG-Fedora Digest, Vol 21, Issue 3
Ranjit,
Thanks for the follow up, the open source community is incredible.
Long story short, I was able to install through the repositories. Then
cleaned up some other issues (tcl/tk, java and others) and did a custom
install of 2.10.
Which brings me to another question, when yum installed R2.11 as an update,
did it use the settings from the original 2.10 repository installation or
did it

Initialising a mirror
Dears,
I would like to mirror data from 2 servers connected together via VPN over
ADSL lines (dwn 2Mbps/Upld 512Kbps).
I'm sure rsync is one of the best tool to keep these data in sync but how
should I use it to initialise the mirror?
I'm currently testing the solution with 10Gb of data to keep in sync. But
on my lines it would take more than 40 hours to initially create the
