NT domain logon questions
Hi. Myself and a anti-Micro$oft companion tried to get
NT domain logons working yesterday and seem pretty close, but
not quite.
Samba is 1.9.18alpha3, server is an Ultra-2 running SunOS 5.5.1.
Encrypted passwords seem to be working, a la smbclient and mostly
from NT, "mostly" because it *seemed* to be working but we did
have some problems with home directories in smbpasswd changing

Multiple servers from single /usr/local
Dear Samba Users,
In the past, with Samba 1.9.18p10, I have handled running several Sun
SPARC/Solaris server boxes that share the same /usr/local/samba filesystem.
I did this by putting different configuration files in /usr/local/samba/lib.
For example: smb.conf.host1, smb.conf.host2, etc.
But, now with Samba-2.0.0, it didn't seem to work. My initial questions are:
1) There are now files

Performance tuning a samba system
I have recently started using samba 1.9.18p8 to serve up files here due
to reliability problems on some of the Novell servers and a desire to
get away from Novell.
But I have run into a problem. I have received reports that performance
to the Novell box (a pentium based system of some type) is considerably
faster than the performance to my Sun Ultra Enterprise 3500 that is
running nothing but

Intermittent logon failures

For some time now I have been hearing reports of users not
being able to logon to the domain--but I've never seen it
happen myself, and I never do anything to fix it. It's
just this annoying problem that doesn't happen often enough
for me to ever see or track down.
Today, FINALLY, I tried logging into a machine and

First SIP-registering succeeds, second doesn't
Hi all,
I have a strange issue, with a some kind complicate architecture...
A router of our internet provider is in front of another bintec rs353j
router, at which my freepbx installation is located. However, NAT etc.
seems to work fine.
BUT: Something is not working...:
When registering my sip-trunk towards my provider (3 different
providers, all behave comparable), everything works at first.

/etc/printcap for samba-shared printer...
Morning...
Just spent this evening getting printing setup off my FreeBSD
machine (oh, how I love Solaris at these times *groan*)...got it now so
that I can print directly from Netscape, color and graphics and all.
The printer is an HP 560c.
Now, I want to be able to print from my Windoze95 machine, and
have samba setup for that, as well as file sharing. If I setup my Windoze
machine such

If you were to search for 'wtmp' in the 1997 archives
(via the Samba web pages), you would find one interesting

Hi all,
I have an issue with asterisk 13 and pjsip. I guess it is somehow
Firewall related, but I'm unsure.
A registration to Sipgate is established successfully:

Bridge + leased line + tc
Hi,
I can''t get traffic shaping working.
This is my situation:
-------- ------
Net1 ----- |router| -------------------- | TC | ----------- Net2
-------- leased line ------
eth1 eth0
We use the leased line for normal traffic but also for synchronisation
between 2 servers. The leased line is 2mbit. The synchronisation

Linux passwd authentication through NT
Hello,
I would like to authenticate Linux' logins by asking a local NT server
whether the supplied login id and the corresponding password match.
Is there a way to do this ?
I.e. is there a PAM module or any other utility that would allow me to
do this from a script ? (i.e. a script like
$ correct_NT_passwd _supplied_username_ _supplied_passwd_
that would return 0 if they match

TRANS.TBL files on Win95 fileserver
I have a small LAN in my basement, with my PC running RH5 Linux and a Win95 PC
connected by Samba. Everything works fine, but when I smbmount a CD (burned
with xcdroast) from the Linux box (CD is in the Win95 machine) I do not get the
proper filenames. All files are uppercase, and the TRANS.TBL files appear to be
ignored. I have tried playing with name mangling, but it didn't help. Is this a

Cisco 801 and rcapi
(This is an extension of an email I sent earlier, but I'm not sure if it
made it to the list or not.... I never saw it!)
We seem to be accumulating Cisco 8XX series ISDN routers as DSL becomes
more and more available in Australia and our clients upgrade.
Does anyone know if those routers can make the ISDN channels available
in a way that can be used by Asterisk? Preferably in a fairly raw

Proxy Server Routing - One last try
Objective:
All web traffic originating from my proxy server should be forwarded
through interface eth2 instead of the default eth0. The reply should
take the same path back to the proxy server.
Problem:
On the return bout, the kernel doesn''t pass the packet to the higher
layers. The reply seems to be getting tossed away between PREROUTING and
INPUT Netfilter chains.
