Can't join linux machine to linux pdc controlled domain.
Getting error message:
Error connecting to my_pdc
Unable to join domain my_domain
when I run 'smbpasswd -j my_domain -r my_pdc' from linux_box
my_pdc is the primary domain controller for my_domain. I have three
win2k machines that are all using the pdc for domain authentication.
They all work fine (funny enough) and can access the domain.
I have added linux_box$ to /etc/passwd on

Winbind issue - Again
I've sent this before, but no response. Trying again.
I'm trying to configure Winbindd on a Linux/390 system. I'm not getting any of the crashes or obvious errors, but I can't join the NT domain using the smbpasswd command. Included below is a portion
of the -D 10 debug listing.
I can ping the PDC under it's FQDN, and I've also added it's IP address to LMHOSTS, but

Help requested for Aeris Dive Computer interface
Hi,
I'm attempting to run the Aeris Dive Computer interface (ACI V2.x) using WINE under Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jakalope release on an ASUS 1000HE netbook.
However, it doesn't seem to be working very well.
the install process seemed to work fine. It successfully created an icon under the WINE application for the interface.
On startup of ACI, it says that it cannot read the previous dive

krb5 configuration generation
Hi,
Is there any way to stop Samba regenerating the krb5.conf.[WORKGROUP] file under /var/lib/samba/smb_krb5 every time?
It appears to completely ignore /etc/krb5.conf, is this expected?

Printing woes
Hi,
I've been using Samba for a while, and I'm now running all network
printing here from Samba. However, while printing itself works fine, my
users can neither view the print queue, nor delete jobs from it, and
this is beginning to get annoying. I'm using LPRng to do all the
printing. All the clients are NT4 workstations. Here's some selected
bits of /etc/smb.conf and

delay in winbindd user/group lookups with many users/groups in domain
Hi!
I have the following problem: winbindd getgrnam/getpwnam/lookupname calls
do not return for a long time (> 30 seconds) which is obviously quite
annoying to the users. This usually happens at the "first" login, i.e.
subsequent connections are not delayed until a (probably cache) timeout.
I've failed to determine who is responsible for the caching yet.

[OT] Apache rewrite stuff...
Hi all, a little off topic, but was wondering what the best way is to
re-write incoming requests so that they all end up at the same domain.
For example, if I had:
my_domain.net
my_domain.com
my_domain.org
Whats the best way to map/redirect all of these to
www.my_domain.com
?
I know its possible, just not sure what to add for rules/virtual hosts
in my apache config.
Thanks for the help!

I'm new to this mailing list, i need help about a configuration with

I have a samba server with shared folders, where users authenticate with
a determined login/password.
I would like to use my directory (openldap) to authenticate my users to

Yes, my mistake. The size is set to the potential size of the source
disk, which in this case is 20G.

"test page failed to print" - How to I resolve this?
This is a new one to me... Drivers install fine, but on some of the
printers I get the "test page failed to print" message. I'm getting
nothing in the samba logs from the workstation, smbd, nor from the cups
logs. I've googled myself silly, but can only find other people asking
the same or similar question. Some of them have found permissions to be
the problem, but in

I have a Debian server with Samba. I've put this server in AD. Everything
is ok for domain users, but I can't connect with a local user !!!
I've created this local user :

Then :
# smbclient \\\\192.0.0.1\\ressource -U local_user
Enter local_user's password:
