UID GID mapping with sssd no longer supported on samba 4.7.4?
I'm struggling with a permission problem on a samba server that is configured to resolve unix uids and gids via nss using sssd. This mostly works. The windows side sees files as being owned by SID=S-1-22-<unix uid of user> and the group is SID=S-1-22-<unix gid of group> This all works fine for files owned by the windows user, or files that are world readable, but fails for

Trouble building 4.2rc4 on FreeBSD
I'm attempting to build 4.2.0rc4 on a FreeBSD 10.0 system. There seems to be a problem with finding the system headers. Specifically lib/texpect/texpect.c seems to not be finding /usr/include/sys/signal.h Some hints on waf or building samba would be appreciated Russ Poyner The errors: make WAF_MAKE=1 python ./buildtools/bin/waf build Waf: Entering directory `/root/samba-4.2.0rc4/bin'

The patch there most likely is looking for signal.h in

win2k client slow with samba 2.2.3.a - maybe a bug?
This sure looks like a bug but maybe a configuration error on my part. I am trying to migrate out current OS/2 Warp 4 based file server to Samba. We have OS/2, Win98, WinNT4, and Win2k clients. I set Samba 2.2.3a up to use security = SHARE as this appears to be the closest to what the OS/2 Warp4 based system supports. All clients are able to access the files on the Samba service but loading

naming a new Mac OS X UPS driver
I've been working on a meta-driver that tries to address one of the difficulties of using NUT on a Mac OS X system which has built-in drivers for several USB-connected UPSes. On a stock OS X system, after you plug in a system-supported UPS, a new "UPS" tab shows up in the "Energy Saver" system preferences panel. Basic status information is presented there, and

aio settings for samba 4.3
I'm tuning a samba 4.3 install on freebsd and I'm confused about aio settings. I've loaded the freebsd aio kernel module and tried various values or aio read size and aio write size, but it seems to make no difference in the speed. Using MS diskspd against a samba share from a fast zfs pool I get something like 25MB/s tops. That's well below the capacity of my Gb network and

Win311 Q: login & Windows EXIT
Hi Maybe this is a common stupid problem, but when I try to login to Samba server from Win311 (right after its start) Windows exits very quickly to DOS prompt without error messages. If I enter Windows without loginning to Samba server, and try to login then it hangs (mouse is still active) showing me its watch. I have a couple of Win311 hosts and this happends with all of them. What could it

Protocol 2 remote forwarding patch
Hi all, I'm very new in this list, as looking for codes to plug up the lack of functionality of "Protocol 2 Remote Forwardig". Fortunately, I could find it in MARC's archive. Mr. Jarno Huuskonen posted the codes in Sept, last year, and I tried applying it to my FreeBSD box environment. I couldn't apply an original patch, of course, for incompatibility of virsion. The

Issue with OpenSSH remote forwarding of dynamic ports
I recently ran across a problem with remote port forwarding in OpenSSH when trying to use dynamic ports. While it is possible to use OpenSSH to request a dynamic port and the OpenSSH sshd handles it just fine, the OpenSSH client gets confused when multiple ports are opened this way, due to the information passed in the "forwarded-tcpip" SSH_MSG_CHANNEL_OPEN message which is sent back to

Protocol 2 remote forwarding patch
Hi ! Here's a patch to add remote port forwarding support (protocol 2) for openssh. I have tried to test that it works like it should but a more thorough testing is needed. This patch adds both client/server support. The patch should be applied to openssh-2.1.1p4 source tree. Also included is a PortForwarding sshd_config option, new ./configure option --disable-forwarding that should make it

OS/2 client crash on "Find Close2"
Hello, I have just migrated an old OS/2 file server to a Linux box with Samba 3.0.23a. Now the OS/2 clients crash from time to time. I found a way to reproduce/force the crash using PMMail and did some experiments. The popuplog.os2 on the clients (Warp4 and eComStation) always names a sys3175 in pmshell.exe / doscall1.dll. Using Ethereal and comparing the network traffic between a) a client

Identifying print source; "no interface found..." err. msg
Hi, The following pertains to samba 1.9.18p10 running on AIX 4.2.1; clients are mostly WIN95 with primary login Novell Netware (Netware/ZEN client 2.50). 1. The way the printing system is setup here, is that users send their printouts to some queue (which is always down); when they want to get their output, they "find" their job on a nearby terminal (running laixsoft's

Experimental -R support patch for openssh client
Hi ! Here's an experimental patch for openssh-2.1.1p4 to add support (to openssh client) for -R (protocol 2). So if you have access to a commercial ssh2 server (that allows port forwardings) could you test this patch. (Note the openssh server doesn't have support for -R with protocol 2 so testing with openssh server won't do much good). To test remember to use -o "Protocol
