Performance problems? (kinda long)
Hello all! First, let me apologize if this is painfully obvious; I searched the list archives a few times and poked around the 'net, to no avail... I'm having a wee problem with Samba's performance (speed) on a Linux 2.1.132 server. Specifically, the server is working at about half the speed of an NT machine. The Samba server (running Redhat 5.2 w/ kernel 2.1.132) is considerably

AGI STREAM FILE command
Has anyone had success with the AGI STREAM FILE command with the CVS? I can't get it to work with the debian 1.0.5 package or the CVS on Redhat or Debian. It's not syntax, I'm doing that right. It doesn't give me an error when I use AGI DEBUG, it doesn't even give a response, just goes right on to the next command. I put a "SAY NUMBER 123 #" before and after

Hello, I'm in the process of launching a site (http://www.intraspect.com <http://www.intraspect.com/> ). I'm using rsync to synchronize between our staging server and our production server. All of my files are uploading correctly except for a couple of .htpasswd files which reside in /var/apache/webscripts I'm guessing that they won't upload because they start with

Slow write times to gluster disk
Hi Guys, I was wondering what our next steps should be to solve the slow write times. Recently I was debugging a large code and writing a lot of output at every time step. When I tried writing to our gluster disks, it was taking over a day to do a single time step whereas if I had the same program (same hardware, network) write to our nfs disk the time per time-step was about 45 minutes.

How do I ensure that the polygon in spatstat::owin(poly=<polygon>) does not have “negative area”
I am a new user of the R spatstat package and am having problems creating a polygonal observation window with owin(). Code follows: library("maps") library ("sp")` library("spatstat") mass.map <- map("state", "massachusetts:main", fill=T) # This returns a data frame includding x and y components that form a polygon of massachusetts mainland`

How to use * and # as part of number indialcommand
Michel Send me the same output for a dial string that only sends the *31* Is this an ISDN line? What type of card/signalling/switchtype are you using? It looks as if the PSTN switch accepts the *31* and then hangs up so you can make the NEXT call with the *31* feature enabled. If so I assume the *31* feature will be enabled for the next call on the ENTIRE SPAN if it is an ISDN trunk group. If

Slow write times to gluster disk
Hi, Today we experimented with some of the FUSE options that we found in the list. Changing these options had no effect: gluster volume set test-volume performance.cache-max-file-size 2MB gluster volume set test-volume performance.cache-refresh-timeout 4 gluster volume set test-volume performance.cache-size 256MB gluster volume set test-volume performance.write-behind-window-size 4MB gluster

What is acceptable network latency forvoipconnection?
In the real world (or at least in my world) we use undersubscribed internet connections that come with a service level agreement (SLA) that guarantees that the jitter, delay, and packet loss with be within defined parameters in the service agreement. With most DSL and Cable you will not get a SLA, with the cheapest T1s you might get one, but the only penalty to the ISP if they do not meet is a

build for osX server 1.1.5
Due to the exploit in samba <2.2.8, we can no longer run the samba supplied by apple. Apple has not released any updates for OSX server 1.1.5 -- instead wanting us to upgrade to OSX server 10.2 for $900. I have been able to build the latest version of samba on max osX , but authentication is not working. What are the hooks needed to talk to the netinfo database for password information?

Find records based on associated table''s colums
Hello, Let''s say I have a model for a "house". Each house has_a "city", which in turn has_a "state" which in turn has_a "country". The objective is to retrieve all houses in a given state, say "Massachusetts". Being new to Ruby on Rails what I like is that things that should be simple usually are simple, and since we have easy access to

WinXP SP1 breaks roaming profiles.
We've applied SP1 for WinXP on several machines and now roaming profiles don't work them. I tried swithching "nt acl support = yes" as previously mentioned on this list but this still doesn't work for us and we continue to get the following error: Windows did not load your roaming profile and is attempting to log you on with your local profile. Changes to the profile

Semi-OT: An idea for New Orleanstemporarycommunications infrastructure
Great idea Dean, "I would also suggest that maybe instead of looking to set up within the disaster zones that you consider setting up in the relocation zone (eg where people are being sent to) yes they have payphones there but having a bank of 20 grandstream phones connected a T1 is a far smarter and more effective solution and probably more meaningful." > -----Original Message-----
