At boottime i first load smbd with option -D and after that nmbd -D. But

smbclient sees the virtual samba server but not the windows clients
Hello Again!
I now have a virtual host serving (almost) samba and a real one serving
samba under the original name.
On the local machine, I can access the the virtual host through smbclient
and smbmount. Everything seems all right. Unfortunately, the virtual host
won't serve the windows-9x machines. The virtual (and real) host both
appear on the network browse list but when the win clients

Install of Samba 3.2.8-2 rpms failed to restart smbd and nmbd
Listmates:
An update of samba via the binary rpms Samba 3.2.8-2.1.140-2082-SUSE-SL11.0
failed to restart the server? This is the first time in years this has
happened. Was Lars checking out skirts while building the rpms? Or, was there
another problem:

Internal error in nmbd / Correction
Hi folks,
I had some trouble running Samba 2.0.7 on my SuSE Linux 6.2.
Configuration and installation worked fine, but after starting up
smbd and nmbd as daemons I found a message about an internal error
in log.nmb that the process received signal 11 (SIGSEGV).
Here it is

Possible bug in nmbd.
Hi,
My nmbd daemon is dying with an internal error periodically. Samba
version is 2.2.7a (I think the latest stable) but I've tried with the
Samba package that came with my Linux distro (a Debian Woody) and it
failed with the same messages too.
Here goes the log.nmbd file:

nmbd crash on z/800 64 bit RHEL v 3.0
Hi All;
I'm currently trying to expand my Samba env by including my IBM z/800
mainframe running 64 bit RHEL v3.0, CUPS printing environment into Samba.
When I start Samba, the nmbd dies almost immediately. Any insight would
be greatly appreciated.

Subfolders problem
I have moved from dovecot 1.x to 2.x and I have big problem with
subfolders.
When I'm moving subfolder with other subfolders is moving only main
subfolder, without subfolders, example :
mail-storage-1 /var/vmail/home/adamskitest/mdbox/mailboxes # find | egrep
-e "janusz|jarek"
./jarek
./jarek/dbox-Mails
./jarek/dbox-Mails/dovecot.index.log

virtual hosting and nmbd
Hi,
I'm trying to make my machine to show up as two different machines
on the windows clients. The way I figured it could be done is by virtual
hosting.
Most of this works out as it should apart from nmbd.
I can not make it to listen on the other (virtual) IP address which
means that
virtuald never get called (by inetd) unless I use the -I option in e.g..
smbclient.
This, of course, does

Nmbd errors & not starting since upgrade to 3.0.2a?
I have recently upgraded my Redhat 7.3 server to Fedora FC1 with all related updates. I also upgraded my samba version from 3.0.0 to 3.0.2a. It now seems that my nmbd daemon will not start & subsequently I cannot log in from any Windows client as the netbios server name PDC is not found I think. Before this problem started, I noticed that in order for my DNS ping requests from Windows clients

Internal Error in nmbd
We're running samba 2.0.7 on an alphalinux machine (kernel 2.2.16, this is redhat-alpha 6.0, if that's important) and
nmbd is crashing with an internal error. See the logs below (log.nmb at the bottom). I'd do some checking around on the
samba mailing list archives, but they've been down for some time now. nmbd generates this message on startup. When I ran it

Conflicting Signal 6 and 11 messages..
Hello All,
I'm trying to figure out where the problem is, but I'm not having much
luck as I seem to get conflicting information from the various logs on
my FreeBSD 6.1 system.
I'm getting this in the /var/log/samba/log.smbd:

INTERNAL ERROR: Signal 10 in pid 7448 (3.0.0rc2)
This morning I got two users come down to me saying their word doc was
lost. Apparently they tried to save their docs to their home folder
which is on samba share. XP had given an error along the lines 'Network
connection to network drive is lost and word is unable to save the
document' and then Word crashed. I went to smb logs and found this.
