Cannot access WD's NetCenter drive from linux
Hello folks. I bought a Western Digital NetCenter drive since it seemed a low-cost way of having a NAS in my home. The NetCenter drives run GPL'ed software (I downloaded the source from Western Digital's Web site, and it refers to Broadcom's "BCM478x Linux NASoC Software." The src directory also contains samba 3.0.2.) The device offers two ways of accessing your data:

rpcclient 'setdriver' problem
Hello, I'm new to Samba but I believe I have followed the example pages and posts to the point where I'm stumped. I'm trying to setup a print server that acts as a raw print spooler to a few network printers I have for Windows machines. I twould be nice to have the Samba server provide the print drivers for the windows boxes when they browse the neighborhood for the device. I

jetdirect printer configuration
I am trying to set up a jetdirect plotter in our network (samba server running un suse linux 6.2). When I start printing from on of the windows boxes everything seems fine but the printing files only show up in the spooling directories on the samba server. The plotter (HP Designjet 650 C) never receives anything. Here are the relevant parts of my smb.conf and my printcap file: PRINTCAP:

This was the root cause. Second userdb with dovecot-sql-master.conf rewrite the first one, but

[FW: Samba problems]
We are still having problems with these machines accessing our Samba server. A couple more departments are joining the Samba club and are also running into the problem with the Samba drive not showing up in the Network Neighborhood. We are running ...p10 on Digital UNIX 4.0d. Some of these newer network cards will access the server, however, they will lock up the machines with the "blue

Ices2 compile error - streaming ogg!
Still trying to stream ogg and have not gotten past a make error in ices2. We www.freespeech.org are an independent media / news site so it would be nice to get this running and support this new format. I'd love to convert all of our 700 streaming video files from from realmedia as well but thats another story! Perhaps this is not the correct forum but it seems like there are a lot of

Windows Read Only attribute, and Microsoft Excel.
I have recently started migrating a Win2k fileserver to a Samba 3.0.2a server. Running in full ADS mode, with winbind enabled for authentication against our Win2k PDC. I am also running as much of the ACL support as I can. The problem I am encountering involves excel documents. The documents are migrated from the Win2k server, to the Samba server, and are retaining all of the ACL's during

Samba4 DC/AD documents created in redirected folders with bogus UID
I just noticed that my fresh install of Samba 4.2.3 has the same behaviour. I have a share (\\samba\it_share)) and some users when creating files have the UID as 3000000 and some have their correct UIDs. Share permissons are being controlled by Windows ACLs. Samba ACL and Office 2007
I am using samba 3.3.2-1 in a debian squeze installation, using ext3 with acl support. The problem I am experiencing is easy to replicate as I have tried it in different machines. In a given share, user "A" is the owner of the folder "test", inside this folder there is a office file "test.doc" for example. User "B" has write privileges over file

HP Deskjet 1000c
Howdy all - I have Samba 2.0.3 running like a champ on a dual PPro 200, 128 MB RAM, running Slackware 3.6, kernel 2.2.5. Running like a champ as far as file sharing is concerned, that is. I have an HP Deskjet 1000c hanging off the parallel port. I set up a raw printer in /etc/printcap, the line looks like this: dj1000|DeskJet 1000c:sh:lp=/dev/lp0:sd=/var/spool/lpd/dj1000 the printing section
