OCFS disk failure problem.
Hi, Irecently setup a Oracle 10g RAC test environment with two HP/Compaq DL380s and a shared disk array. The array is presented as a single 136GB disk. The systems are running RedHat AS 3.0 Update 4. OCFS 1.0.13-PROD1 build: 5e87201061935f464cf6541c56eb2827 Oracle 10g 10.1.0.3.0 I was able to get everything working, had a database created and running an instance on each system. The

[LLVMdev] Running "make check" on Windows yields lots of unwarrented unexpected failures (HTML free this time:-)
Dirk, I am working on tests/win32(s) too. I can let all tests pass on msvc10 and cygming with my patches, thought, my patches are incomplete (several of them hide potential problems) Please see threads below in llvm-commits. http://lists.cs.uiuc.edu/pipermail/llvm-commits/Week-of-Mon-20100927/109077.html http://lists.cs.uiuc.edu/pipermail/llvm-commits/Week-of-Mon-20101004/109271.html If you are

Wins registration vanishes
Has anyone seen this yet? I am having a problem with the my WINS entry for my Samba server disappearing from the WINS database. After this takes place I am no longer able to access my Samba server so I am forced to restart NMBD and a new entry is placed in the WINS database. Although over time this entry will vanish again and I have to repeat the restart process. I am aware that I can add a

[LLVMdev] Running "make check" on Windows yields lots of unwarrented unexpected failures (HTML free this time:-)
Hi, sorry, in my last mail, I didn't check in time that HTML e-mails would be turned off. So, checking out llvm/clang yesterday under Win32, building it, and running the "check"-project using MS Visual Studio yielded 177 unexpected failures, many of which happen because of the different registers used in passing arguments under Win64 and everybody else on x86-64. I would be

Problems with netlogon batch
Hi there, we are pretty sure to have our Samba version 1.9.18p10 configured for running a logon.bat which mounts a SMB filesystem on Win95 client logon. Funnily enough we see the message "Win NT logon script: Executing logon script" but obviously this is not actually true, as the filesystem is not mounted after this message box (a DOS box flashes up briefly as well)... Linux printing to NT printer
Hi, I am using redhat 5.1 and want to print to an hp722c on a NT 4.0 box with service pack 3 installed. The printer works fine locally. I have created a win-printer spooler on the redhat machine as a SMB printer to a share on the NT machine called //bob/hp720. I created a printer on the NT machine called hp720 and shared it off as hp720 with the permissions everyone full control. The printer

File permissions problem - Visible Analyst
I have Samba 1.9.18p10 running on linux 2.0.35. It's being used largely as a file server for student email, netscape bookmarks, Word papers, etc. from Win95 clients. The configuration is pretty much the defaults. We have an application called Visible Analyst (VA) that needs to be used by a few users. The bulk of the application files are shared but a few need to be available at startup

Strange behaviour with domain login
Hi there, I have Samba 1.9.18p18 installed on Linux (S.u.S.E. 5.3). It is configured to act as a domain controler for the Windoze machines. One of my users, which can login from his Win95 (plain text password) without problems, wants to change his password from the Control Panel. But every time when he logs out after changing his password and re-logs in, the new password is refused by the

Virtual CDROM for Unix?
Has anyone implemented a "virtual cdrom" facility as offered on windows? That is CD images are cached & compressed on hard disk and shared across a network. See: http://www.winmag.com/library/1996/1196/11r24a.htm I have not found any news of a Unix solution. I would like to offer one on a Linux server to Windows clients. It should not be hard to implement with Samba... Thanks

Phone Directories/Asterisk/SIP/directory.html
Greetings! We are using cisco 7940 phone with SIP and asterisk. We would like to be able to have phone directories available on the phones that are sourced from active directory. Are their any scripts that can connect to the AD server via LDAP and then create the directory.html file for the phones? Thanks! ADMIN$ share? What's this
Hi, I recently did a update form 2.0.7 to 2.2.3a. All run smooth. When doing a "smbclient -L server" I now see a ADMIN$ share. What's this, what is it for? Thanks Christian _(_)_ wWWWw _ @@@@ (_)@(_) vVVVv _ @@@@ (___) _(_)_ @@()@@ wWWWw (_)\ (___) _(_)_ @@()@@ Y (_)@(_) @@@@ (___) `|/ Y

Old SAMBA and WinXP....
Ok, here's a simple question, (I just rejoined this list so apologies if it has been asked a million times before). Our Company runs SAMBA 1.9-18p1 from a USS (Unix System Services) on an IBM Mainframe. I used to have WinNT 4.0, and I could access Files on Windows Explorer through SAMBA with no problems. Now I updated one of my workstations to WinXP Pro., and - no access to the Samba

Wanting to run a UNIX command on Windows shared files
Hi everybody, I posted the following on 'comp.protocols.smb' newsgroup but got no answer. I'm now trying this way. On one side, I have a Solaris 7 box running Samba 2.2.0 and on the other, a W2K machine sharing to everyone in full access mode the contents of its C:\Public directory. Is there a way to run a UNIX script or command on this Windows share? I tried using

Home shares staying (NT4)
I am having the same trouble with automatically mounted home shares with samba 2.2.1a (PDC, domain logins, roaming profiles) and NT4WS sp6a. If I login as one user, logout, then login as another, I can view the previous users home share as well as my newly logged in users home share (lather, rinse, repeat...). The NT box has a machine account, domain logins work, profiles work, login scripts

[SUMMARY] Re: New installation (samba passwords)
I had just sent this whine out when I discovered the ENCRYPTION.txt file in the docs directory. Thanks to Bill Knox (no relation that I know of) for confirming what I had begun to suspect when I finally RTFM. My samba installation is now working like a champ. I'm now wondering about an enhancement to smbpasswd that will allow UNIX-like password expiration and forced changes. And of course,

strange _spawnl() and system() behavior with VC++ Pro 5.0
I'm having a problem using _spawnl and system to run processes on a network drive. If my program runs something like system("unzip -l testfile.zip"), unzip actually looks for testfile.zip in the root of the drive rather than the current directory, although the current directory as returned by _getcwd() and GetCurrentDirectory() are correct. I've tried getting the current

New installation
>From the docs file WinNT.txt Passwords: ========== One of the most annoying problems with WinNT is that NT refuses to connect to a server that is in user level security mode and that doesn't support password encryption unless it first prompts the user for a password. This means even if you have the same password on the NT box and the Samba server you will get
