Samba Wins server gives wrong address
Hello, I wonder if anyone knows if this is a limitation or a bug? We need to use a print service on a Win95 PC via smbclient. Smbclient uses wins and gets the wrong address. The wins.dat entries for the PC are: "OVERH2#03" 955147099 192.168.2.250 192.168.2.249 192.168.2.251 4R "OVERH2#20" 955147100 192.168.2.250 192.168.2.249 192.168.2.251 4R "OVERH2#00"

Locking Problems with Tracker 97
We have encountered a locking problem with multi-user Tracker 97 against Tracker data files on a Samba server. I do not believe it is related to erroneous smb.conf settings. If two separate users attempt to edit the same record, Tracker refuses the second request if a Win95 server or NT server is used, but allows the second request if a Samba server is used. Subsequently, the data files under

Security Modifications for Samba
I have submitted some samba mods to samba-bugs which others may be interested to have a look at or try. The mods enable certain security controls like "admin user", "create mask", "force create mode" etc to be set by directory rather than by service. With it, you can present users with a single service of Unix directories within which some directories and/or their

File access trouble
I am experience some trouble with wrong file group ID on files when a user is member of several groups. It seems that only the primary group is used. This is not what I want. I want to control witch group is used. A setting in smb.conf like active group = xxx, or something like that, so that active group is set if the user really is a member of that group. The Force group - parameter

Win95/98 login
I know this one has probably been discussed to death, but the search engines are down. I have a user on a Win95/8 machine with a userid lets say user1. They have an account on a samba server with a different user id, say user2. the user has no ability to modify account id's and both are required, user1 attaches to a bunch of MS related junk which can't be removed. the id, user2, is

File permissions/ownership lost?
Samba 2.0.0 on Solaris 2.5/sparc 14,000 users (samba released to small group, but intend to release to all) My apologies if this is a FAQ: point me in the right direction! When editing a WORD document (or Excel, and probably others), the revised file written back to the UNIX home directory loses its original ownership, group-ownership and permissions (modes) and gets a default set (me, my

defining a function using strings
Hi All, I need to evaluate a series expansion using Legendre polynomials. Using the 'orthopolinom' package I can get a list of the first n Legendre polynomials as character strings. > library(orthopolynom) > l<-legendre.polynomials(4) > l [[1]] 1 [[2]] x [[3]] -0.5 + 1.5*x^2 [[4]] -1.5*x + 2.5*x^3 [[5]] 0.375 - 3.75*x^2 + 4.375*x^4 But I can't figure out how to

[LLVMdev] Hey, who said you could use Obsequi's code!
Just kidding. :-) Hi, I was just doing a Google search on my name and I ran across a site that actually had a reference to Obsequi a program I wrote almost three years ago now. I thought the program had been forgotten a long time ago (forgotten might not be the right word, I'm not sure if it was ever remembered). Anyway I was just wondering how John Criswell ever ran across such a low

Use all.equal instead of identical if you want to gloss over integer/numeric class differences and minor floating point differences (and a host of others).
