DHCP & Samba - Server can't see clients
Hi there,
I just playing around at the moment with the idea of putting in a DHCP server
alongside my Samba stuff. On my test server I'm having problems seeing the
client machines (test 4 or 5) in the DIAGNOSIS readme.
The server can see the clients as the general name search works and returns
the IP of the clients.
I think it's something to do with the DNS and WINS not wanting to

oplcok_break more information (PR#12734)
Hi! After more work on the oplock_break problem, I've found the following
in my tcpdump-smb logging. It seems that when ost5 (pid=26339 in the logs
that follow) requests access to the oplocked file comm.inf from ost6
(pid=5872) the oplock_break failes (this is NOT isolated to any one or two
systems on our network, just using these two as an example, and the server
reports no dropped packets

Question w/intranet and internet
Greetings,
We are using a private class B behind a firewall for about 15 months and
all is well using Samba. However I notice a strange problem:
When the real Internet is down (namely our router to the internet) the
samba boxes (all of which are behind the firewall) do not function correct
(at a minimal no domain logons for 95/98)

Sometime cannot connect to samba server, Why ?
I have posted this question 3-4 weeks ago, but still get no response.
In my environment, I have one Linux box running Samba 1.8.18p5, and
there are about 20 Win95 clients which is in the same network.
The porblem I usually encountered is when I click on the samba server
icon in the NN icon, sometime I can get thru without any problem.
However, there are also many times that I got error message

bootstrapping the lme model
Dear all,
I have a data set o which I'd like to fit lme model. There are three factors
one of whoich is nested. This should be easy to do using lme in R, but the
problem ist that the data is highly non-normal. I was thinking about
bootstrapping the distribution but don't have much experience of doing this
in R and most references I find don't seem to go beyond the

Printers Always Paused - A Solution
I had a problem with Samba 2.2.5 with the printers being
permanantly paused to Windows machines. They could print OK - it
was only the status that was wrong.
The reason for this was because I had used the word office in the
printer name / comment. This was causing the parser which
recognises the printer status to find 'off' pausing the printer.
A quick fix for this is to replace the

samba-tool SIGSEGV
Hi,
Not sure if I should post in samba-technical or just samba list. Please advise.
Back in February I was trying to do a samba-tool classicupgrade but kept getting SIGSEGV:
https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2017-February/206409.html
I didn't progress much after that.
This week I've compiled samba-4.6.5 and installed that. Following the HOW-TO for classic upgrade

KVM HA
Hi,
I have two KVM hosts (CentOS 7) and would like them to operate as High Availability servers,
automatically migrating guests when one of the hosts goes down.
My question is: Is this even possible? All the documentation for HA that I've found appears to not
do this. Am I missing something?
My configuration so fare includes:

Subsetting a data frame with multiple values and exclusions.
Hi all,
I realise that the convention is to provide a working example of my problem
but the data are of a sensitive nature so I'm not able to do that in this
case.
I need to query a database for multiple search terms:
db <- structure(list(ind = c("ind1", "ind2", "ind3", "ind4"), test1 = c(1,
2, 1.3, 3), test2 = c(56L, 27L, 58L, 2L), test3 =

within group sequential subtraction
Hi Everyone,
I would like to do sequential subtractions within a group so that I know the
time between separate observations for a group of individuals.

"IND2", "IND2", "IND3", "IND4", "IND5",

Located Latent Class Analysis (Uebersax)
Dear list members
I am new to the list and would be much appreciated if you could help me.
I am very interested in applying Latent Class Model for analysing multiple raters agreement data. I have recently found a paper by Uebersax, J. (1993) which described a method in a form of Located Latent Class Analysis (llca). Uebersax has written a Fortran program which is available on the web, for the

plot() and points() precision control
Hi all,
I have a problem in that when I plot points that have a high degree of
precision, some significant rounding seems to occur, resulting in
uneccessary overlap of my points. Is there a way to specify the
resolution or precision in plotting functions? Is there an underlying
grid I have to modify somehow?
Many Thanks,
Jon

Hi,
I've done a classic upgrade to from samba 3.6.23 to samba 4.6.5 bringing across all the user
accounts. The samba 3.6.23 we set up with smbldap as an NT Domain with OpenLDAP. After a lot of
effort the classic upgrade worked well but now I'm a bit stuck with idmapping.
The new AD DC is running 4.6.5 on CentOS7 and I can connect using ADUC. I set up a separate AD DM on

Stats question: Comparison of the same individuals during two exposure times
Hi,
I'm hoping that someone will be able to help. I would like to compare how
covariates associate with the risk of a binary outcome during two periods.
Period 1 will be non-exposure to a treatment and period 2 will be exposure
to a treatment. The same individuals will be examined in each group but I
want to be able to compare the association of certain covariates between the

Subsetting a data frame
Hi R users,
I really need help with subsetting data frames:
I have a large database of medical records and I want to be able to match
patterns from a list of search terms .
I've used this simplified data frame in a previous example:
db <- structure(list(ind = c("ind1", "ind2", "ind3", "ind4"), test1 = c(1,
2, 1.3, 3), test2 = c(56L, 27L, 58L,

How to plot PCA output?
I have a decent sized matrix (36 x 11,000) that I have preformed a PCA on
with prcomp(), but due to the large number of variables I can't plot the
result with biplot(). How else can I plot the PCA output?
I tried posting this before, but got no responses so I'm trying again.
Surely this is a common problem, but I can't find a solution with google?
