Problem with files being cached
Greetings All, I seem to be having a problem with files being cached, and I am 99% certain that it is not oplock related. I have set up my smb.conf file to have oplocks turned off and I think it is set up correctly. I believe this is correct because I then took that file and changed it to turn oplocks on and I did get different behaviour. With oplocks off an smbstat never shows any files being

file update when read only
re: Samba-1.9.18p8 Windows 95 client connected to a read-write Samba file share . If a file is modified from Unix, Windows 95 client does not see the changes made when the file is opened read-only, the file prior to the modification is read. If the windows 95 client opens the file with read-write (opened in an editor) the current modified file is read. Any suggestions? Peter Debus School

Getting rid of "You haven't logged on here before"
According to the Samba docs, there's really no good way to have Windows stop asking "You haven't logged on here before. Would you like your settings saved?" or whatever nonsense it actually says. However, due to headaches getting profiles COPIED and not merged with local copies as well as privacy concerns, I'd like to blast the profiles subdirectory constantly. But that

What exactly did you want to compare? `ss -tp` does not appear to show cmdline/process title. I enabled it for one server, but will have to wait for users to reconnect and for the issue to reappear there. In the meantime, on another server

Upgrade 2.2.27 to 2.3.9.2: master(imap): net_connect_unix(imap) failed: Resource temporarily unavailable
As a workaround for the titular issue, I have tried enabling the "imap-hibernate" service on a couple of servers to reduce the number of running imap processes. Since ~50-60% of clients are in IDLE at any one time, this allows us to reduce the number of running imap processes to less than half of what it was. After this I have yet to see the "net_connect_unix(imap)

Yes, I realize this. That is why we are introducing the directors to the cluster. We are also working on doing Dovecot LDA/LMTP delivery, to improve Dovecot's ability to react to new messages. Currently we are dropping email directly into the Maildir through other facilities, which works -fine-. I realize however that IDLE is most likely not working properly with

2.0.0-prealpha*: Only 8.3 filenames with NT 3.51?
Hi all, We've been using the 2.0.0 prealpha's with some success, but now I have run into a problem which I can't seem to solve. The client, an NT 3.51 workstation logged in to an NT 3.51 PDC, can't create long file names on a 2.0.0 prealpha Samba server. For example, when renaming a file from 'readme.doc' to 'readme.pqrst', 'readme.pqr' is created. In

Migrating from 1.9.19-prealpha
Hi, We have been using 1.9.19-prealpha very successfully for over a year and have just started migrating to 2.0.4b, the environment is Sun Sparc running Solaris 2.5.1 and NT 3.51 & 4.0(/sp3). On the servers that have been upgraded, the log files are filling up with some ominous messages, but curiously, users are not reporting any errors at the moment. The following are characteristic of

Dear All Firstly my thanks to Luke Kenneth Casson Leighton <lkcl@samba.org> for his answer - I have now 'use co -r SAMBA_TNG'ed and have a fresh CVS snapshot. The ./configure works again - yipee! But the 'make all' fails with the warnings pated below. I have tried the other CVS snapshots from http://sernet.pair.com/ and they are in a similar broken state (although broken

stanaphone issues. can someone verify my config?
Sorry if this comes thru twice, I had the wrong account selected to send the first time... Callers to the number get ringing, I get stuff in my asterisk console, and it calls my softphone and ata, but answering either gets silence, and the caller gets the ringing stop, if they wait ages they get the stanaphone voicemail. I have had the account for ages, and it never has worked, other sip

Samba PDC with 100+ Client Experiences?
First of all, kudos to the Samba crew. You've made a great application, which will hopefully commodotize Microsoft's biggest asset, their NT server. I've set up Samba 2.0.0 as a PDC with roaming profiles. All seems to work well with the small limited set of machines I've used. Backgrounds and all settings seem to be saved, and all works well. It took quite a bit of time to get

asterisk 1.4 chan_h323, help please...
Hi, My configuration is SipPhone<-->*1<--->*2. My asterisk version is 1.4beta3. I installed pwlib,openh323,chan_h323. When i call from SipPhone--(SIP)-->asterisk1---(H323)-->asterisk2, there is no audio. Using 'rtp debug', I can see that rtp packets are being received. Rtp packets are being exchanged. I also tested chan_ooh323, but to fail. Can anyone recommand best
